Risky opal cutting turns out to be twice the value

  • Sometimes we take risks.
    This piece of rough opal is a broken rough opal Nobby that has a very large and/or thick color bar, which makes me think outside the box and go for two gems instead of one. I am taking a risk with this piece because I can't see through it and it could be full of potch, but hey, life is too short to always play it safe. So, I'm going in!

    AMAZING! As I sit in the break room at work. I started up this video and I had the volume a little loud and thought I was being bothersome to my co-workers so I turned it down a little bit. Mind you I'm here at work an hour early so I can get something in my stomach that starts at 9pm lol. A quarter way through the video I hear a voice behind me " hey man, can you turn that up a bit? " lol I turn around and all the guys have collected at the table directly behind me 😂 and they're all watching you cut and polish these amazing stones ❤. Thank you for sharing this journey of two amazing gems coming to life ❤. Lol btw, I work at one of the major soda pop companies out there. And to see a bunch of dude's sharing in my geek out session was awesome 😊🫶🏻

    If there is one thing that I've learned from watching you, Justin, it is that every opal is a gamble. Even the most straightforward looking stone could turn out tragic. As you are fond of saying: "You just never know." You're like the Bob Ross of Black Opal. 😉 Only you're WAY funnier!
    You have built up an intuitive knowledge. That is apparent. Thank you for sharing this with us.

      @@blackopaldirect Sorry to say this but given the things I've seen on the internet I would recommend not using the word "woke" as it tends to be associated with left-wing extremists here in the US and possibly elsewhere, I'm not sure. I encourage you to do your own research about this since my conclusion may be skewed.

    • @lisacrandall409
      @lisacrandall409 3 місяці тому +10

      @@engineer84-w8x describing someone as 'woke' means that they are aware and sensitive to the prejudices (based on race, gender, disability, sexual orientation etc) that others face. So in essence, someone who is 'woke' is empathetic - they can put mentally 'walk in someone else's shoes', and they care about injustices that affect others but not themselves. The fact that anyone would consider that being empathetic and alert to injustice makes a person a 'left-wing extremist' is truly mindblowing and very sad to me. It is an indictment on the heartlessness of the social circle that they are in. I do commend you though for your self-awareness that your conclusion may be skewed. Perhaps mine is skewed, too? All I can say is that from my perspective outside of the United States (but as someone who has lived in the US in the past), the current polarisation in American society is truly frightening.

    • @jmpattillo
      @jmpattillo 3 місяці тому +1

      That’s what I was worried about too! 😂

    • @engineer84-w8x
      @engineer84-w8x 3 місяці тому +4

      @@lisacrandall409 Yes, the American populace is being polarized, the word "woke" is, as far as I can tell, being used by genuine extremists in multiple industries to spread their derogatory agendas, and right in the middle of a cost of living crisis where many people simply cannot afford homes due to convoluted, systemic issues beyond what the average joe can comprehend, and I'm stuck in the middle of it all, unable to get out of it or do anything about it due to the lack of influence I have. I can also understand why you would be concerned about this from an outside perspective because 1, the US has a very large military and 2, a significant portion of the world economy goes through and takes place here, so if either the US goes to war, Wall Street crashes, or both, it's bad news for everyone on this godforsaken blue pebble.
