  • I run my guitar signal through an amp modeler, which is probably the most expensive thing after the guitar. The 10 watt amp is just a speaker a this point.

    The proper thing would be to use studio monitors instead of a generic amp, but this is my solution for now. If you are on a budget, amp modelers can save the day because you only need to buy an audio interface and the plugin instead of amp, mics, pedals, etc.
    You don't need anything crazy for a computer, but it needs to be able to handle the plugin without latency. That is pretty much how I record my videos for now but the rig will keep getting better overtime.

      Interesting. A guitarist could just bring a PC or laptop computer with an amp modeler and audio interface and plug that into a mixing board at a stage, church, club, arena, or venue, instead of bringing in a huge tube amp rig with a pedal board.

    Another solution to consider depending on your needs is something like the Hotone Ampero One, which you can find used sometimes for around the same price as a Scarlett 2i2. While the Ampero One CAN also be used as an audio interface, it's not as versatile as a Scarlett (no XLR or 48v phantom power) BUT has really great built-in amp, cab, and pedal simulations without the need for a computer connected for easier quick practice sessions, and has absolutely zero latency. If you go straight into the front of an amp, make sure you turn off cab sim to prevent weird resonances and get the amp's EQ as neutral as you can. If connecting to a computer (Modeler or Audio Interface) make sure you look up ASIO drivers for Windows to reduce latency as much as you can.

    I've found that using a small combo practice amp combined with a cab sim of some sort, be it mooer solo or any other kind of cab simulation, you can actually get some really nice sounds as the speaker of the shi--y cab sounds harsh thus adding a cab sim smooths out all of these nasty frequencies.
    The same benefit can be achieved doing the opposite, the practice amp as a head and using the headphones output to plug it into a cab sim.
    Yo he notado que al usar un simulador de cabinas, como el mooer solo, podemos hacer que cualquier amplificador genérico suene bien ya que las bocinas de éstos tienden a sonar muy estridente o brillante, cosa que se va al poner el simulador de cabina que "suaviza" el sonido.

    • @overdarkproduction
      @overdarkproduction 2 роки тому

      This doesn't make any sense. What you're talking about is the line out from the preamp. Normally that goes through the speaker in the combo. You're just replacing that with a cabsim.

    I use amplitube as my practice amp or for headphone jamming. The only amp that is can really be quiet enough for night time is the katana which i can drop to like half a watt or something. May try this with my bass amp but I'm gonna go straight into the power amp instead of the input. edit: I gave this a try today (05/03/22) and it kinda sounded like shit. Might have to toy with it a bit tried both the loop and regular input so idk whats up i'll potentially look into it but whatever not much of an issue for me. Thought it would be a neat project.

    That's neat. My first practice amp was some shit from Sears and I bought some pedals. Most notably, the MT-2. Before the pedals, I ran it through my parents home stereo. (Don't tell them.) About 1990 or so. Young me would have killed for the use of computers and plug ins. So much can be done now. BTW, some one stole my MT-2 before I left Seattle. May they rot in hell. It's cool you are showing people how to rock from their bedrooms. Edit: current set up: Orange Micro Dark through a Harvey Benton using a Behringer copy of my lost pedal.

    some advice, if you're using ASIO don't use the focusrite drivers at all. I recommend flexasio for it as you can finely tune everything but it does take a bit of configuration to get done. ASIO4ALL does I think work but you'll run into problems. Though that could be an issue with my voicemeeter and asio4all setup, I just prefer the open-source alternative (flexasio) as it works better for me.

The newer JBL GO 3 speakers don't have a hard wired input jack, it has to be the JBL GO 2. The Fender mini-amp is way better than I thought it would be and these little JBL speakers are phenomenal. If you want to practice without headphones AND without rattling the neighbor's windows, nothing beats this set-up. I originally cobbled it all together by accident, really. Just seeing what works with what. I frequently toss it all in a gig bag and go play downtown or by the lake or wherever.

      @@akiani I just got the best rated one on Amazon that was adorable. The focusrite scarlett. There is no noticable delay for me, and I was even just using the USB output on my crappy amp along with FlexASIO for a while. I do have a powerful CPU in my PC which is likely a big factor to having no delay with no audio chopping or glitching.

      No, this isn't dangerous. The worst case scenario is that the level is too high or too low, which would make for bad tone, but isn't dangerous.

      Bluetooth headphones already have high latency by default, not really much you can do there.
      You'd need a different pair of headphones with cables to connect to your interface, sadly.
