Nice one Mike - glad you are getting good help with your mental health issues. We have just been across to see my partner Fiona's son who has had problems all his life. He is now in his 40's and has just been assessed for autism and ADHD and hopefully now he will be able to get properly tailored treatment & therapy for his issues rather than the stabs in the dark he has had in the past which have often made him worse!
My first BLE (DAW) was Voyetra for DOS (MIDI only), and the V-24 interface.
I ran my entire studio on a Wyse PC+, DOS 3.0.

I was going through some of the links and came across something funny: the presenter on the video for the Antelope audio interface is also using an Audient ASP line mic preamp and an Audient ASP console. OMG! My first DAW was Digital Orchestrator Pro!
Mike, I'm glad you are doing okay. Great content.
When I was young (now 64) we got the record players and tape machines.
Then I found Zappa, Kraftwerke and in between.
Someone told me about BrandX and Pink Floyd and the list was adjusted.
Now it's beautiful music with Daw's and VST's copying and pasting.
But it's about new feelings when you listen to music and discover more.
The feeling is gone without playing yourself, but sometimes it's beautiful.

Completely agree with your point about piracy of plugins after having bought handful of plugins which some I don't even use no more. Neural note is also another great free alternative to melodyne, Vonko Africa.

Part of any generation's music has to do with how old you were and to what degree was it the soundtrack of your life at the time.

I've been a reporter for more than 30-years. My suggestion is never write anything you don't want read and taken seriously. Even though I still violate that rule on occasion I'm pretty careful about it. Also, it's a great question. I don't like the Beatles.
I really don’t like the beatles I think they are twee and boring. I am 65 and didn’t like them when I growing up, there were much better things to listen to.
You should consider trying Reaper, since the entry price is very, very low, and the power of the DAW is amazing.
Music is opinion of what is good or bad ___ from one side to the other. You may like the sound of a clipping mic. I don’t, nor do most, but I also like the Beatles.

I never *disliked* the Beatles when they were active, but was never Ooh Aah about them. I've come to appreciate them more in the past few years though. The same goes for the Stones and Led Zeppelin (although, honestly, I like Robert Plant's solo work better). Bands I didn't like, and still don't? The Who and The Kinks (except for Preservation Acts 1 & 2).
Can you explain or do a video oh how to do a you tube recording using cakewalk for the audio? I’ll either use phone or IPad for camera, but obviously don’t want that audio.
Can you start by recording guitar and do drums/bass later on?
Studio One is better - but Cakewalk is (still) free. 😉

I don't much care for most the Beatles' catalog. I don't like their harmonies, can't stand their psychodelia and believe much of their cultural influence was bad. Yes they were good at writing songs and had an incredible marketing team. But in general psychodelia doesn't appeal to me. The Doors, some of Hendrix's stuff, Cream, sorry I'm not into it. I'd much rather listen to Howling Wolf and Merle Haggard than many of the artists from that era.
Sure its ok i do not like the rolling stones (Some songs are ok) and frank zappa is to me just a soulless craftsman but his music is hideous.
Ignorant children say they don't like the Beatles but then they GROW UP.
I think a lot of people say they don't like The Beatles just to be contrary, which is just about the highest praise you can give to a band. So when someone tells me they 'don't like The Beatles' I always smile.
I lean the other way however, I'm what you would call a Beatlemaniac, so I'm not rational on the subject. I'd imagine that I overate them in just about every way imaginable, but I'm good with that.
