- VVVVVV Part 2 - this is not a drill, I could really use a tow truck right now. VVVVVV continues to impress by pulling all the tricks in the book. Incredibly good for a 12-year old game! What will it take to find these crewmates?

Normally, yes. In the official deathless mode, the spikes leading up to the trinket are removed, so no.

I'm pretty sure the way I did it when I played the game didn't involve a death. I didn't realize you were supposed to die to get it, so the way I did it was to go all the way there to break the block and traverse all the way back without hitting any checkpoints
That trinket is IMO the worst thing in the game. Not for the difficulty, but because there's no precedent for that type of puzzle anywhere else in the game. You need to train the player on the mechanic of "break a block and die in the same screen" before you throw in a 10-screen puzzle that silently fails on checkpoints the player has been told are a good thing.
Anyway now that he's got that and the trinket from the end of the previous vid he's done the two hardest things I recall from the game, so I expect Tyler to 100% this without much more difficulty.
The editor did a really excellent job compressing all your failed attempts into this short of a video while keeping your progress shown and still entertaining
FUN FACT: The colour coding in the map corresponds to what crewmate you are saving, with grey being the empty gaps in between levels

i've been a fan of this game for 7 years now, and this may get me interested in it again. the community is still kicking and full of player-made levels that test the boundaries of the editor, but given the difficulty, you may want to steer clear of them if you value your sanity

7:26 Yes, the Prize for the Reckless trinket (which I personally consider to be the worst in the entire game, besides maybe the Gordian Knot one) is impossible to get deathless. In Time Trials (where getting 0 deaths is actually one of the goals) and No Death Mode (self-explanatory) the spikes are removed, and the room name is changed to "Imagine Spikes There, If You Like" and "I Can't Believe You Got This Far" respectively.

Also I'm still pissed that you are going for 100% trinkets but you missed the It's a Secret to Nobody (the very first one, you just missed the entrance to it) and Purest Unobtainium (in the Laboratory, after jumping over the spikes in the I'm Sorry/Please Forgive Me room)
This does not illustrate just how much he failed at the pac man puzzle. He was there for a solid 7 minutes saying “almost”
7 minutes is really fast - it took me much longer. This is a hard game
For edge games thats not bad. Its probably secons hardest below Doing things the hard way.

This game brings me back so many memories. I played it on PC when i was 11 years old, and then I bought the Nintendo 3DS version which I discovered it had a bunch of level packs installed. What a joy! Check them out once you find all the secrets. There are some really good ones, even once that was made by Notch, the creator of Minecraft!

Shut up, he’s using it correctly. There is one Euclidean space of a given dimension up to isomorphism and if you take the identification of boundaries made by the levels in this game, there is no isomorphism between the resulting space and R^n.
It's globally non-euclidean, but locally it definitely is euclidean.
@@godlyvex5543 true but unless you specify locality, Euclidean is a global condition. Every manifold is locally Euclidean, but nobody is gonna look at the E8 manifold or a Grassmanian or even a Klein bottle and think “ah, yes, Euclidean space.”
Watching this is so weird. I played the game briefly - IIRC, I quite when, after hours of trying, I finally got all the way through Veni Vidi Vici alive... and landed on the wrong side of the one-block-high wall - but I've had the soundtrack in my media library ever since, and listen to it fairly often.

If your Into super old platform, puzzle games, i reccomend "And Yet It Move". it has a very unique art and music style and i think it will be cool to play on your channel
I just now rationalized that this game has the player trapped in a space shaped like a donut. With how small it is I think that the dimention is moving at high speeds and you flipping gravity is just inverting the direction of that spin if it wasn't for the fact the rest of the crew is uneffected.
Yeah, the map does in fact seem to suggest that Dimension VVVVVV is toroidal. The Tower does split it in one area, but the fact that it isn't on the edge of the map implies that you would be able to walk through it if it wasn't there.
man I never figured out the proper Edge Games solution. Instead of flipping to dodge the Pacmen, I found a glitch where you can enter the edge warp at the same time as the enemy and go through them that way. I feel dumb for not seeing the easier solution now lmao

I think you typically mis-use "non-euclidean". While this is non-euclidean, so is basically every other game. If there's a circle, hell, a circular radius of effect, it's a non-linear game
