- This video shows the door panel removal and exterior door handle replacement on a 2003 Chevy Tahoe. According to the internet this procedure should be the same for 1999-2006 Tahoe, Suburban, Yukon, Denali, Avalanche, Silverado, and Sierra models.
That just happened to me last night. They broke the handle as well and was unable to get inside. Thank you for this very helpful video!
Aww man. Fixes my washer and my door. You are the man !!! Thank you!
I recommend taking off rail connected to key cylinder. Only way to unlock is with key fob
Smart
Thank you man, helped out my dad on the screw placements!
Thanks Jeff. I'm going to be trying this repair on my 2004 Chevy Tahoe.
Me too !
Great video. Thank you. Gonna do both of my doors this weekend. Someone punched in both door locks and couldn't get in that way so they just ended up busting my window.
Thank you...going to fix my 04 suburban
Thanks a lot. This really helped
Great video… very explanatory and great articulation.
Very Helpful video! My next project needed a few tips thanks a lot brother
Hey brother really appreciate the vid it was helpful and easy filling you thanks!!!
They got into my Tahoe broke the ignition cylinder, I replaced that already just need to do the driver side door and she’s good to go when I get a chance to do that.
JUST WHAT I NEEDED SOME A HOLE TRYED TO GET INTO MY TRUCK LAST NIGHT DID NOT GET IN BUT BROKE HANDLE WHEN THEY PUNCHED CYLINDER THROUGH
Very helpful to me today... That darn 3rd bolt. Im not the most clever in this way.. Tend to just get mad instead. Thank you
Yes my cylinder lock broke, someone also broke into my Tahoe, I had to buy the door plate and the cylinder lock, I just need to take it to a locksmith and get it coded, on my Tahoe the door plate where to cylinder was at was cracked and the cylinder was done… the key won’t even go inside…
Aren’t you supposed to take it apart first and then put it back together seems like that’s the right sequence to show your viewers
Ideally yes but at the time I made this I couldn't find any video or instructions on how to do it. So I had to tear the door apart before I figured out how to do it. I didn't want to film all of the trial and error but once I figured it out then I filmed info to help anyone attempting it from scratch. I could have put it all back together and shown the tear down in the correct sequence but that felt like too much work at the time, sorry.
I don’t remember but does it have a key on the hatch door? If not you could try using a slim jim and as a last resort get a lock smith.
Happened to me yesterday.... We have the same Arlington Texas sticker!
I need this in both my doors 🫠😤
Same shit happened to me. Now I’m watching this video
What are you doing??? you just erase your gasket! LOL
Like I said, I couldn't find anything online to tell me how to do it so I had to do some destructive disassembly to figure it out. In retrospect I know how to do it know. Hopefully you can see past my mistakes and do it correctly.
My tahoe has same texas sticker 👍🏾 and im from cali haha
Hey there. I replaced the driver side handle, and got everything connected. I closed the door to test it before fully connecting the the panel back on. The door didn’t open, so I went in to open from inside and it didn’t open either. Now I’m stuck. Any ideas? Thanks!
How’d you get it open with the lock pushed in my sister tried to unlock her Tahoe and the lock was loose I guess and she pushed it in
We got in from the passengers side and crawled over to the drivers side. With my car I was able to unlock the drivers door and open it. The clicker might work to unlock it too. Once unlocked the door should open with the outside handle.
@@FlyingMonkeyMedia she has a weird model where she has no other key hole to open anything and for some reason her battery decides to die randomly so do you think there’s a way to open it from the outside
Someone did the same thing to.my truck last night and nobody will.help.me out
Where did you order the handle from?
You did not show much
I thought you were gonna show me how to get back in the truck
I don't know the exact condition of your door handle. I couldn't get into my Tahoe with the broken handle from the drivers side so I got into it from the passengers side. I could exit the vehicle using the inside drivers side door handle but I couldn't get back in until I fixed it like in the video. It was a huge inconvenience for about 10 days until I figured out what part to order and how to do the repair. When I fixed mine there was no video on UA-cam that I could find to do it so that's why I made and posted the video so others wouldn't have to figure it out from scratch.
Ohhh thank you I appreciate that alot. I only have one keyhole and they did the exact same thing to my door. I've watched a few videos and ima try to wedge it open from the top.
@@jarrodloran1 I guess we have different model. Mine had the clicker to unlock all the doors so I could get in from anywhere. What about the hatch? Mine has a key unlock on the hatch. If yours has the same you could get into the car that way.
If I recall there is no key hoke back there but that is a phenomenal idea!!! I can't believe I didn't think of that I'm try it now.

All the door handle does is pull that rod up. I know you can't see much inside the door panel but you'll have to figure out why it isn't pulling the rod up high enough. Maybe your door handle is damaged somehow or maybe the rod is bent. Without being able to see it it is really hard to say what the problem is. Good luck..
