The barber had the perfect combination of putting the customer at ease and giving a luxurious experience while simultaneously being efficient in his technique. I would very much like to visit this establishment.
What a nice guy and what a quiet little salon. I don't like those loud macho type places where the barbers find themselves more important than their clients. This here is quality, service and skill. This is what it's about!
It was an old historic down stairs apartment in a tiny two story complex...converted to this sort of privateesque little barber shop in Downtown Phoenix
This video and the Route 66 Wet Shave are my favorites. Two different generations of barbers but keeping the good style and quality. 2 thumbs up Harry!
Small businesses typically do not get the tax breaks that larger corporations get access to so are shouldering a larger burden of social responsibility along with waged employees. However, people also have a choice as to where to go for services, so customer trends have also impacted these places. I see small(er) locally owned and operated business as critical to the survival of local communities as it is these business owner that working in, hire from, and financial support local communities. They can out-perform large corporations, but their has to be a willingness of people to support them :-)

This place is great. He now has two chairs. The other barber there is great and both of them are real nice. Very personal place...the decor is out of the world.

I have had a few but none as "professional" as this, I live in Pacific Northwest and some shops try to add this but they have no idea what they are doing. I literally got one once and had to go home and shave that night, all she did was make the hair stick out even more with bald spots on my face. I think I am going to have to travel to get a "real" one done.
I'm in Phoenix this week for work and finally got a chance to go to House of Shave. The experience exceeded my already high expectations. Matt was awesome. Talked me through each step. His passion for his craft is infectious. Next time I'm in Phoenix, I'm definitely going.
I have watched this and Angel at least 100 times each. I would love to have this man shave me back before I grew my beard. A true professional that takes pride in his craft.
Great shave. I love the ambient sounds of someone working their craft. Please, no background music, unless it's played in the shop normally. Preferably Big Band Swing or Jazz. Keep up the great entertaining videos.
Wow, that was one of the best looking shaves I have ever seen! I bet you feel butter smooth after that. I wish there was someplace around here like that. I'd go in once a month to get my whole head shaved, talk about treating myself!
Such a classical establishment. Love the traditional, vintage-everything vibe. The only thing that takes you out of the '50s nostalgia trip is the barber's digital watch.

In talking with Matthew and observing him work in his busy barbershop, I found him to be a very humble person and he really did place a big emphasis on providing good customer service. Each barber and barbershop we have visited has been unique and what stood out with Matthew is how he treats his customers.

Why did we ever get away from this kind of service in a barbershop is beyond me.

A nice cozy barbershop with a fantastic shave. Good ol' fashioned customer service from a barber who shows he cares.
Matthew is an extremely thorough barber. That has got to be the best $20 you'll ever spend.
