My Grandad lives there, and I always look forward to trying to spot them when I visit. They really are beautiful!
Welcome to northern Sweden Dani, I hope you will like living here. A little tip, if you like to watch wildlife (birds, squirrels) from your kitchen window, put up a couple of bird feeders. My parents have been feeding birds and squirrels in this way for as long as I can remember. You knew the winter was arriving soon when dad brought home the big bag of sunflower seeds and other goodies for (as he used to say) "The little birdies"...
In the video, it seems that you have quite a bit of firewood on your property. Not sure how big your lot is, but If you're lucky, you have som birch groving on it that you can chop down and use for firewood. . Now, more importantly, you need to learn how to talk to the squirrels. My grandpa used to do that. He took some bread (usually "tunnbröd") that he could break into small pieces. You can also use spruce cone seeds. Anyway, you sit down and sit still for a while until you can see a squirrel approaching. Make some "tsk, tsk" (sort of, find a sound that works) sounds and (slowly and gently) drop a food offering as far away as you can reach. Repeat with shorter distance until you can feed them from your hand. . I've never managed this myself, but then I have no patience. Still, I've seen my grandfather do this a lot. . Also, if you're going touristing, I would recommend a trip up the E12 (Blå vägen = The Blue Road) from Umeå to Mo i Rana in Norway. If you don't have the paperwork to enter Norway (Swedish citizens can go anywhere in Scandinavia) just turn around when you reach Hemavan. It's considered one of the most beautiful roads in Sweden and rightly so.

Welcome to Sweden! Just found your channel. Great movies and pictures! Squirrels are awesome animals. I have had squirrels living around my house for a long time. Each year they get between 2 and 4 babies. They are really fun to watch and photograph.
Hi, interesting and quite impressive choice you’ve made! Myself I’ve moved to Sweden some years ago and haven’t thought that I would stay that long… The beautiful nature took me right away especially sailing, so many islands places to explore. So here I am living my dream :) Always happy to see that someone else has found own piece of magic. Congratulations for the house is looking great! Best of luck guys!
What an amazing and inspiring journey! I moved from England to Sweden just over two years ago and live in Uppsala, I cannot wait to explore and see more of Swedens stunning northern countryside and its beautiful sights! :)
Congratulations on buying a house, it looks great. I love the details in the house such as the hand railing going up the stairs. You are a lovely person and I really enjoy the relationship you have with the squirrels. I have about 5 squirrels around my house that I keep fed. All the best to you and your boyfriend.
This is amazing, congratulations! The wood scene reminded me so much of the good old time going the forest, chopping down trees with my dad and my brother. I am sure you will have an awesome time in your new home!
I'm so happy for you. Love those windows too; perfect for watching the beautiful forest and animals all around you. Cheap houses in Sweden with snowy forests you say? Sign me up.
I've always recommended my friends to go visit the more remote parts of Sweden. I come from Stockholm and most people here never get to see these parts. If you're going on vacation, you'll probably go to Spain instead of Norrland. Such a shame, this country is so beautiful. Glad to have you :)
Oh Dani, you bring back memories of buying our first house in the US. We too had a chute to get firewood into our basement for our fireplace. Only problem was the wood we brought into the basement had carpenter ants in the wood. We had to remove the whole load of wood from the house. The wood went into the basement easier than it took to get it out! Good luck with your new home! We have had our first home for 41 years and hope you can too!
Yea we never keep firewood in the house in my area of USA. Always stacked in an outdoor woodshed. Do not want carpenter ants or termites if they get into the wood.
Grattis! Time to learn swedish ;) Seems like there isn't too much done on the house, so it will probably be quite easy if you want to renovate something. I also agree that the houses are insanely cheap up north, down in the bottom where I live you can't even get 1/4 of a one room apartment for the same price.
3:30 This is what my dad and I did my entire life. Throwing wood into the basement through the small window. Cords and cords and cords of wood. It really makes you appreciate being warm all that labor that goes into staying warm. As they say, heating with wood warms you twice.
You'll get a lot more density if you restack the wood once it is in the basement. Please make sure to keep your ashes in a metal container during transport and take them outside when they're not inside the furnace. Our neighbor's house burned down because they poorly maintained their ashes once.
Love the house, a little bit jealous tbh😂. Is the forest with Ghost etc.., far from your new abode? If I can make a suggestion...., when getting a log delivery, have one person unloading and one in the cellar, stacking. Start in the alcove and work up and out.
Great and congratulation! :-) I have done before in 1992 and sold in 2012. Now living in an apartment cause of my age... I have gott lot of experiences for 4 seasons and was really appriciated to live in a house and a big garden with apple trees, pear trees and one plom tree. Lots of Tulips - A good memory the best time in my life to plant, develope knowledge of exotic plants (for me) cause I was born in Bangkok but we have big fish farming with big land for Coconut trees and mango trees. Congrats to a very nice house. And also very warm welcome to Sweden! To buy old houses has become rather popular these days and I like it a lot. The countryside should live. Mostly its city folks that move out and repopulate the countryside. We had a green wave earlier and this is the second one 😎
Hello Indra, how are you doing. I hope this year brings happiness prosperity love and peace all over the world. I'm Thomas from Virginia nice to meet you.
I always find it fascinating following people discovering Sweden, it reminds me about the things that actually are great about this country. It's so easy to forget them when you've lived here your entire life and seen so many things go downhill.. Ah well anyways, you'll have no shortage of animals to snap pictures of, that's for sure :)
Yes, I am a swede too and our politicians and media have really done there best to destroy everything good about Sweden. Such a pity but hopefully something good appears from it anyway.
Welcome Dani. The house looks great but you should consider a change of stove, I am not completly sure but it look like "old school" Newer modells save you a lot of work and money, much more efficient.
Welcome to Sweden! Please, take care of that house. If properly cared for it will likely last you a lifetime. Make sure to paint the house properly with a plastic-free paint, otherwise the wood will just rot. If unsure, ask a craftsman. Many people buy these sort of houses and just let them decay, which is such a shame as they are an iconic part of the land :)
Congrats with a house. (And moving). You are so briliant at what you are doing. I'll give you guys a tip on the way, from living under the same conditions as you, but on the other side of the border for yrs and yrs, when you think you have enough firewood, get some more. :) It's amazing how much one can burn over the duration of a winter. (Stacking it in the cellar is also not a dumb idea, I did see someone suggesting that.. but you don't need to if it's dry when you bring it inside... if it's not dry, you kind of have to). Best of luck with the house, the move, the filming, and everything.
Welcome to Sweden, and Västerbotten. Congratulations to your house. It looks as you two really found a tranquil piece of property. Looks lovely. It was relaxing to watch these pictures of the snow falling when I woke up, since here in Stockholm is pouring down. Squirrels never seems to have a dull moment, and are great to watch. Buy a sack walnuts at some supermarket, and you’ll have friends for life Many friends. 🐿
Beautiful place :) I used to leave walnuts on the porch every day, squireels were always coming from the forest to pick them up and didn't even pay attantion if I was there. If the walnuts were not there they would even come into the house to ask for some :)
When photographing outside while it’s snowing do you have any special method to protect the front element of your 300mm lens, or do you simply wipe the snow off the glass? Whenever working beside the ocean do you use any methods to lessen the affects of the salty atmosphere on the lens elements? To minimize condensation from building inside the lens do you seal your camera inside an airless plastic bag before bringing it in from the cold outdoors? 🍁 🐿

Hej! Congrats on the house and moving in. Beware storing all that wood in the house. It is a good way to also bring in termites and other insects that lay eggs too small to see. They might hatch in the heat of the house. You're better off making a lean-to near the doorway to keep the wood dry from the elements. Then just bring it in, but in smaller batches.

From one English person to another, welcome to Sweden. I've been here 21 years myself. Good luck to the both of you :)
Amazing!! You live in such a beautiful country, can't wait to visit and film it 😍 We were just in Finland and we want to visit Sweden so badly. If you have some time you can check out our travel vlogs and let us know what you think, only if you want to 😝
I have red squirrels in my garden. I daily feed them hazelnuts. I ADORE them since i was 7. I am almost 70 now. They are so beautiful to watch. Regards from the Netherlands.
Congrats...and welcome to "the club" :0) My wife and I bought 5 acres of Sweden with a house much like yours 15 years ago...and haven't regreted it for a second
Welcome to Sweden! Just found your channel. Great movies and pictures! Squirrels are awesome animals. I have had squirrels living around my house for a long time. Each year they get between 2 and 4 babies. They are really fun to watch and photograph.
So lucky living in such a beautiful country. We can't wait to visit and film it 😍
Hi, interesting and quite impressive choice you’ve made! Myself I’ve moved to Sweden some years ago and haven’t thought that I would stay that long… The beautiful nature took me right away especially sailing, so many islands places to explore. So here I am living my dream :)
Always happy to see that someone else has found own piece of magic. Congratulations for the house is looking great! Best of luck guys!
I came 37 years ago 😊.
Woaaahhh, välkommen hem Dani!! Soooo envious of your adorable house but at the same time so happy for you 😍😊🥰 Again... VÄLKOMMEN HEM! ❤️
That looks so romantic 😍😍 good luck to you both for 2022. 💙 From Liverpool 🇬🇧.
Buying our first hose....hmmm..??? Did you maybe mean house....???
Yea we never keep firewood in the house in my area of USA. Always stacked in an outdoor woodshed. Do not want carpenter ants or termites if they get into the wood.
very nice. hope you enjoy northern summers with endless sunlight. it is something special as well
Grattis! Time to learn swedish ;)
Seems like there isn't too much done on the house, so it will probably be quite easy if you want to renovate something.
I really love life in rural sometimes. We are appriciated in Mother Nature as well. Happiness of Human-Being.
Best wishes from STOCKHOLM
Hello, how are you doing. I hope this year brings happiness prosperity love and peace all over the world. I'm Thomas from Virginia nice to meet you.
@@thomashanks1033 Thank you for greeting! Happy New Year! Best wishes from Stockholm - Sweden
@@MultiOranuch Happy New Year to you as well beautiful woman. I hope you don't mind that we talk and get to know each other. I am looking for a new friend OK!
Congratulations on your new homeowner status! It's a very pretty home, and seems nice and cozy. I laughed in sympathy at the moment of struggling to get the mattress up those winding stairs. So glad Ghost remains near to visit. And how pretty the squirrels high in the spruce looked among the green. Am very much looking forward to all of the beautiful films and photos of the local beauty to come.
Your wildlife photography is stunning!
Congratulations Dani on purchasing your home. I'm also very pleased you have squirrels near buy besides those in the squirrel forest. I'm excited for you in all the new adventures to come in your life, and I'm looking forward to seeing some of those adventures. All the best Dani.
Congratulations Dani! It must feel so wonderful to be where you love. Give us a house tour pretty please!
Well, you are so welcome. You two should feel right at home here.
Buying a home in northern Sweden over email/facebook sounds like a new possible path of my "moving-to-Sweden" plan! 🤩
How does one find the house on facebook, some swedish groups?
Thank you for showing me a new option and congratulations!
real estate agent every country has that so its not hard but also people want to make more money or hard time selling or dont want to lose money to real estate agent .instead they sell on facebook still everythings goes trough banks so its safe
Congratulations Dani. Hope you will be happy living there, I'm sure you will. Absolute best wishes to you.
You have a beautiful country. Stand up for it and don't let politicians take away everything you love about your homeland.
Yeah soon Sweden won't look like Sweden. Everything beautiful will crumble as you allow your traitorous governments to betray their own.
@@gamingSlasher I'd be interested to learn how the Politicians have been destroying Sweden?
@@mikeoglen6848Er, uncontrolled immigration
Welcome Dani. The house looks great but you should consider a change of stove, I am not completly sure but it look like "old school"
Newer modells save you a lot of work and money, much more efficient.
What a beautiful house, bet it will feel like Christmas everyday.
It looks as you two really found a tranquil piece of
property.
Dani! Warmest congratulations! Hope, you have enough squirrels in your forest)
It's a lovely house Dani congrats on finally moving in, was an easy secret to keep I didn't have anyone to tell😉 So good seeing Ghost bouncing around, you and Ghost have a very special bond. Loved watching your live on Instagram and seeing the new squirrel. Looking forward to seeing more squirrels and other wildlife 💜🐿
Beautiful surrounding land close to the house . Nice, nice house. CONGRATULATIONS!
Wow, what an absolutely amazing adventure. Visiting Ikea is a right of passage! I hope you both really enjoy your new home.
Having grown up in Skellefteå this is a nice perspective. My wife grew up in Sjöbotten. My mother grew up in Bastuträsk.
Congratulations!!! A little piece of paradise among the most incredible, magical, touching, endearing little darlings that there is. Congratulations again and a huge 👏👏👏👏 and thanks for your incredible work.
This video made me really happy. Lovely Swedish house with a lovely couple in it. Hope you will have a great life here in my (our) country.
Such a lovely video. We can't wait to visit your beautiful country and film it, we were just in Finland and we can only imagine how magical Sweden will be 😍 If you have some time you can check out our travel vlogs and let us know what you think, only if you want to 😝
@@MariaOliviaTravel Well I did check it out and I'm now a sub. Please come to Sweden. But you really have to go to Norway. In Norway you should take Bergensbanen (Bergen line). It is said to be the worlds most beautiful train line. Oh ...I don't know how I got from Sweden to Norway ...lol.

What a beautiful house and incredible setting ❤️ Love the video.
I wish you both all the happiness in your new home a magical part of the world .
Wellcome to Sweden. Lovely house in a fantastic environment. I hope you will feel wellcomed in our country.
Beautiful and stylish house. A million times better than living in a city! (Hopefully the chimney has been sweeped first?)

Congrats Dani! :) I hope you will feel most welcome and somewhat at home. Best of luck to you!
Welcome to Sweden! I couldn't help noticing an old bread crate from Gewes in Skellefteå where I grew up, so I guess I probably could say welcome to Västerbotten (maybe even Skellefteå) even though I live in Stockholm now. Best of luck with your new house and your life in Sweden!
Reminded me of Skellefteå too!! My hometown
Congratulations Dani, on your move & new house. I’ve been to northern Sweden a few times, I have friends in Stockholm who have second homes up there. It’s a stunningly beautiful place. It reminds me of those old Lassie films. ; D
I guessed you’d be vegan 🌱 #govegan ✌🏼
Thankfully we dont have termites in Sweden (yet)^^
Congratulations Dani!! What a special home you have. The location is perfect, being near the squirrels. To me, it feels like you are living your dream. Thanks so much for sharing this with us. I’m really hoping you’ll be sharing more videos on your beautiful home.🐿🐿 🐿🐿

That Dark Red is called "Falu Rödfärg" and was super common paint to use on older houses when they were building it
Just happened on your video this morning. What a lovely home, and frankly gorgeous video. I'm a photographer myself (though likely twice your age). I live in Iraq, and this time of year miss the forests and snow of my Canadian homeland. Thank you. I hope all goes well for you in your new home. Peace.

Amazing video! I got the video recommendet and I was amazed by how the video changed my mood so fast. Wish I now would be in a silent cozy wooden cabin in the middle of nowhere during a snowstorm. :) :)
Wonderful photography and presented in such a mindful way.
What a great thing to do? Healthy physically and mentally. Just be sure to check for building issues that can get worse over time. It's normal for houses to slowly deteriorate. If you catch things early, then it costs much less to repair.
Congrats on your new home. Lovely story and photography
I just love the slide to the cellar for the firewood. BTW, I'm a first timer at your channel an I have already fallen in in love. So you have 44K+1 subscribers. I'm a very verbal person, so expect a lots of comments from me.
You are one of the best video photographer I’ve seen.
You allow viewers to live vicariously through your journey!
Congratulations on your new house and showing us how lovely Sweden is💖
If you get your electricity from mains then it's good to have a propane generator in case of power failures. Check out channels that show DIY building. They get incredible numbers of views. If you decide to add structures or build additions to your house on your property, make sure that you film it well with advice and pitfalls.
You're video , brings a thought of a cold day infront of a wood burning stove , with a whistling kettle boiling the evening brew. Laying comfortably on a sofa waiting for it to get hot , with my baby son asleep on me. , nothing gives me great joy And warmness and happiness . , thank you dani.
Hope you have a large birdtable with lots of wildbirdsseeds and remember to nail som porklard on some trees, if you want to be gentle with the trees, you can tie up rhe porklard. You can also have some applebits on the table. Remember to have the table not so close to the house, if you do the forestmice will eat at the table and the come in the house for warmth. So not so close.
Wow 🤩, Love Animals but don’t like Cold Weather. I’m from the Carribbean Island of Puerto Rico and it’s always around 80 to 94 degrees F. But like you guys do things in Sweden. Good Job 👏
i love watching these videos of people moving to sweden! thank youuuuu for sharing! lovely video! congrats on your move!
if you store the wood in a nicer fashion it will become easier to pick and its nice to the eye. Welcome to Sweden! Wish you the best and nicest! :)
Congratulations!! Wonderful house and awesome landscape...I live in Buenos Aires and I´d love to move to a place like that. Could you tell me what is the average cost of a house there at present? Surpinsingly enough, a house like that would be almost unaffordable here in Argentina.
Simply wonderful 👍❤
Cheers to you Both and the little lovely Squirrel families.
And Congratulations!
Photographer as well. Nature and animals. Love your channel.
This is wonderful!!! Congratulations and many happy photo days to come!!!!
Gorgeous images, Dani! Looking forward to seeing your new home through your lens.
Dani, just magic that you have a house, wow 1st major step. Underfloor insulation? Double glazed? Just one fireplace? Are you allowed access to your own trees or elsewhere. It is allmennesland, all peoples land, after all. Silver Birch burns green. We used to stook up long logs of it outside in Karasjok in Finnmark. Just gorgeous shots on a 5D Mark 1V. Have Joy. Love your engagement with nature.............
Please tell me the brand of sheets? Love them!**** squirrels on them...priceless.
Love to you both. Happy house warming. 🏠
Congratulations! I hope the community gave you a warm scandinavian welcome!
Nice that you are in Sweden and are one of the few to show the northen part of Sweden and it's nature on youtube when the most only are in the south area
Amazing , as a born child in a very big city in germany.
I could wish to be at a place like you and do wildlife exploring like you.
I love it.
Very nice project, good music, peaceful envirement, living in eternity, luck around the corner.

I love nature🌲and animals especially squirells🐿 so I do understand u😊. I live in Sweden Gothenborg but I'm planing to buy a house in the woods. I lived once in Agnäs Norrland for 3 weeks in a little house was the best experience I had in my life to be always connect to nature🌲 I wish you the best of luck!🍀
Lovely to watch after this video randomly popped up for me. I am looking forward to spending 3 months at my cabin in Sweden this summer, but as a UK citizen I can now only stay 90 days in every 180 in another EU country, so not sure how this person is managing to live there full-time unless they are Swedish, an EU citizen, or married to one?
Welcome to Sweden! Just saw this video in my feed and it made me really happy! I wish you all the best here and with your squirrels.
Congratulations! I live here too and I love it!
Happy days and God Bless you.
