    I played this amp at my local music store...I almost cried. I played it using a Eric Johnson Strat rosewood fret board and it sang. If u have the money, go buy this amp. I REPEAT...BUY...THIS...AMP!

    Was just about to comment looking at that guitar wondering if the fretboard was scalloped and then you said it was. So now I know. Not sure why I decided to comment to be honest. I've pretty much just wasted everyone's time.

    I really got into Greg's videos with wildwood recently. That man could plug a broomstick into a toaster and it would still sound like 2 angels making sweet love in my ears. Great to see my favourate youtube demo guys know about him! Also, this setup sounds amazing!

    • @DerEchteBold
      @DerEchteBold 9 років тому

      I had to unsub from Wildwood after 2-3 videos or so.
      Subbed after I saw the 'outtakes' video... and it's not that I dislike his silly talk now but I was pretty surprised (and annoyed) that this is all he does in these vids (except from the superb playing of course).

      I get one next week! Did you change out the preamp tube? I was taking of grabbing a GE 5751 NOS to play around with as well. Hear they can do the old deluxe reverb trick, and it makes the top end a little less brittle. I like it either way! Dream amp for sure! Plus it has so many amazing features. Not many amps you can play at 3am, record and go straight to the gig without losing your tone. You can play whenever you like. I’ve heard no bad comments about this amp, outside some not liking the treble. But that’s easy fixed in like 4 ways. Turn up to 6 and attenuate to bypass the bright cap, get a mod, swap the power tube, put a different speaker in. But nothing I feel is a deal breaker.

    • @dustinarnold79
      @dustinarnold79 Рік тому +1

      @@mattg082 no I haven't switched anything, I love it so far just like it is

    • @mattg082
      @mattg082 Рік тому

      @@dustinarnold79 are you running many pedals with it, and if so what kind? I’m still playing mine and pretty much set it to 5.5-6 volume on rhythm and roll back my guitar volume to 6-7 to clean up. In that position it takes my Fuzz pedals better. So far overdrive at any volume has been great! Just those heavier distortions and fuzz need to get over the bright cap hump at low volumes. I love this amp 99%, and real close to looking into a bright cap mod. Thing is I like the bright cap on cleans and don’t want it gone. But when rocking out, I’d prefer to have it out to be more pedal friendly at lower volumes. My only gripe on the amp…outside that it’s 5 star for life amp. I know most clean and blues players this is of not issue. I mainly play Indie Rock which uses high gain maybe 10% of the time. Mostly I’m using Tubescreamers dialed to 0 gain and light overdrives and classic rock tones. Just if you want to use a big muff…yah know. I think the bright switch is the mist requested feature for this amp. As it has no normal channel like the Deluxe to fall back on. Locally I can buy an original 1965 or 1968 Deluxe for 2k no taxes with the normal channel…but that’s a bit pricey for a plane amp. I really like the lead channel a lot on the tone king and it’s so versatile! It’s just been hard to find the perfect Fender style amp for me. And the Tone King 99% nails it! So still within that 30 day of making decisions.

    I can just imagine how nutty it was there for this "session". Robs been wearing the same shirt for what, the last three or four vids so this is the end of a long day! The Captain is sounding boss, so you know he is relaxed. Never know what Bea's doing. I'd love to try to hang and shadow these guys for a day, I bet it would be insane... Thanks for the great videos guys!

    First you were partially responsible for me buying a 2014 custom shop 1958 Les Paul Bourbonburst back in Nov 2014 ( as well as Greg at Wildwood guitars ) and now Tone King. I've seen and heard you guys play this amp and it just sings to me .
    I'm mainly a blues / classic /southern rock guy , with several Les Pauls . I wish that I could find anyone around our province or Washington state who carries this amp. It sounds and looks fantastic .
    Thanks so much - once again you guys are having more fun that humans should be allowed to have - love your passion , humor and willingness to put out all of these demos .

I understand the Tone King has the iron man attenuator and a lot of hand built parts but at nearly £1000 dearer does it really justify it's huge price tag? Still love the map though ;-)

    I owned a Sky King Tone King 35W 1x12 combo for about an year and a half. Great amp for specific types of vintage tones but not very versatile and didn't really want to "collaborate" with any pedal I tried in front of its clean channel.
    Another disappointing thing is the fact that you pay quite a hefty amount of money yet you get an amp built by guys that work for Two Rock and not Mark Bartel himself. I wish I bought a Port City Pearl head instead.

    I probably should not say this because there are different people that really enjoy different kind of music. But I am going to go ahead and say it. It’s nice listening to a person play guitar makes you feel good as if it has some type of rhythm meaning rather than just the person making their guitar Fart out garbage sounds.End it seems beyond all comprehension for me to hear that someone wants to teach people how to fart out meaningless garbage sounds from the guitar it just blows my mind.

    Rob has developed a bad habit of interrupting Lee over the years. But let's not get hung up on the negative. That's a sweet sweet amp.

    Kudos for finally mentioning Greg Koch in these videos. Without doubt my favourite demoer (no offence!) would love to see him in an andertons vid!

    if you place a BB preamp, or any preamp in front of this super luxurious amp, wouldn´t you be changing the sound of this amp to "imitate" since i am a newbie i would like to know why would you do that with this amp? I thought the entire point was that "vintage" sound that the amp has on its own, right? wouldnt this be sort of a blackface and a tweed amp all in one?

    I'm kind of fascinated with this amp - it gets saggy in such a nice way. 'spensive, tho. Nice that the attenuator can be turned off for the rhythm channel.

    I liked the amp till you demonstrated the tremelo. To me the tremelo on the 65 Fender Deluxe Reverb “Limited” by Sweetwater sounds oh so much more pleasant than this one does. This one sounds like you’re just turning the volume on and off and is very irritating when it’s on the off position. But with the tremolo on the fender deluxe 65 River it is so so much more pleasant
