Your criticisms were great and I agree about a lot of it! You explain your opinions with reasons well and I appreciate that it's not just blanket statements that don't give me much feedback. I did want to let you know about a couple things though. - RG was started/released (it was playable/open alpha within the first week) not in 2017, April 9th 2018 specifically which makes it 6.5~ years old by now rather than 7.5~ like the 'created date' shows. - About the [ALPHA] status, I've gone through a lot of ideas on how to take RG out of alpha BUT the main things would be data would have to be wiped, and the game would have to be completely recoded and remade to be way less laggy, which is what I'm prioritizing. Lag is one of the biggest issues for RG actually and I'm surprised you did not tackle. - I've repeatedly tried to help the grinding issues but the next step is actually making the level 1 player stronger or the level 2000 player a little weaker, I would prefer making the level 1 player stronger since I think the speed and physical stats are super redundant, I've considered removing them. - Bosses do not spawn faster in private servers. - I tend to develop in the areas I'm strongest in, sound design is my weakest area (obviously LOL). Abilities in RG are pretty spammable and the roar example you gave could have been avoided by making multiple roar mp3s and randomizing for them which is something I'll keep in mind! Thanks for bringing attention to that and helping me think on it more, though I would have preferred if you told me that outright because at first I had no idea what to do with that criticism. - As for the map, comparing my map to Brookhaven I think is giving it too much credit, RG map is ok-bad and Brookhaven's is ok-good imo. I believe the cafe is good enough and doesn't need the attention. And you were spot on about it being optimized for FPS! I could do better with my map skills now though. The map was made in September of 2018 after-all so its 6 years old 💀. The problem with making a map for RG though is that the PvP is very large scale and fast, which makes realistic/nice looking and tight Tokyo-like buildings pretty tough since it makes the overall scale feel claustrophobic. - The video title is harsh! "The game that REFUSES to innovate." I do innovate but with kits and some side content that enables you to accessorize the combat, but I do not innovate in pretty extreme directions with stuff like completely new gamemodes or perma-death for example. My community tends to want the game to stay exactly the same, just essentially buffing and nerfing certain kits. If you have more criticisms or details please do tell me more. I think your perspective is good to know more about since you are an experienced roblox player, but not a overly eager or committed RG player specifically. A well educated fresh set of eyes essentially.
i honestly think ro ghoul is a massive show of wasted potential your models and animations are impeccable exactly what's needed for a game with weird funky tentacles (not exactly easy to animate or model as it needs to look like it's alive) but the gameplay is overall just vomitive and i feel like nowadays after 7 years you could make a way better game (that would hopefully not be a disgusting grindfest because only brazilian kids without a life are grinding on roblox games as of 2024) ro ghoul gameplay is sadly a simulator game in it's essence
Hey Alex, I appreciate the response! I do apologize for a few misinformation in the video, most of the things I said were off the top of my head while writing the script for this. I'm also aware that a lot of things shown in the video are very rage baity but I hope you can understand it's for the sake of content 😭 I'm not a professional video game critic, so a lot of the things I say are heavily influenced by my own personal experience as far as I can remember. If something like lag weren't mentioned the video means that it wasn't that big of a problem to me... or it could just be that I'm so used to it. And yes, I could've spent a little more time to make this video more structured but I never would've guessed that it would reach you. Change can be a risky move since the community is so attached to familiarity. So, to play it safe for now, I'd recommend you to work on animations or sounds (it's very unstatisfying💀). That way the game could be feel more fresh without affecting the main stuff. It's the smaller steps that count. And when everybody's comfortable enough, I believe you can decide what to tackle next. I have a lot of respect for you, being a solo dev for 7.5 years on a Roblox game is just plain admirable. I’m sure you’ve considered this before, but having someone else to collaborate with could make a world of difference. But that's it from me. Best of luck. Thank you kindly.
i honestly wouldnt listen to the current community and keep the game how it is now, your current community are players who hit max level half a decade ago and dont care about the grind or the map design or really anything outside of the pvp, its better to completely wipe the data for the game so old and new players would be on equal footing, maybe old players could have like a special kagune or weapon or sm shit, but wiping the game and making the grind actually possible without needing 50 codes would actually give you a playerbase, not robots afk grinding and then a toxic pvp community that spam kills anything that moves lmao
The reason that Roblox devs like to make anime ripoff games is because they probably watched the anime and thought “yo this world would make a good Roblox game”.
@ for games like that, it’s pretty much like a mr beast situation. They try to maintain making profit off their game after quite a while, and I emphasize on that part alone. Games like JJS and Heroes Battlegrounds, for example, actually have cool game mechanics and aren't such a cash grab.
Damn I just remembered this game existed, lowkey nostalgic. I legit thought it was just ditched, but the fact it's still updated and looks so goofy saddens me a bit ngl.
It did go a while with no updates or small updates. Only recently did it start getting actual updates. Think it was smt abt the owner being in College but I'm probably wrong.
tf would a 2two steps ahead move even mean? "heh, im gonna trick my player base by not updating the game in any meaningful way and just when the entire community is about to die ill update it and be really popular!!"?? like the community is already dead lmao, the game died so long ago, the entire chat is just people using codes then leaving game lmao
@@josephvilteski8707 That's quite literally Blox Fruits atm 💀💀🙏🙏and Ultimate Battlegrounds literally JUST did that, and they're blowing up like crazy rn.
About the point you made in the beginning of the video about roblox developers being original, roblox discourages innovation. There are really creative games on roblox but sadly they dont earn revenue or get players at all. And why would anyone work their ass off to make a unique game with passion when its at most going to get 500 players? As long as the community likes playing the same 4 move battlegrounds games, the developers will mostly develop those slop games.
block tales is like the most unique and passionate game ever and its got around 30k players on updates and 10k in general, so I would say its pretty successful
@@EldritchEntityWithASmartphone I do play deepwoken, however there are hundreds of amazingly developed unique games going down the drain because of games with lootboxes and other cashgrab qualities.
Ok alright i saw sushiwalrus's comments about this but don't get me wrong we WANT him to innovate, it is more likely to be way better if he stop use the excuse of "data" for not trying to redraw the whole page of the games. And yeah i know very much about him being an indie devs and reputations are enough for a rework of the first game BUT i am telling you that i wished roghoul *2* more than anything even from an old save files on the current game, even if have to grind from ground ups I'd still be very satisfied for a fresh new tokyo ghoul game. It has many potentials but i cannot defend alex anymore. To me he's like a pikachu that doesn't want to evolve, yet still lovable nonetheless due to how iconic it is
The main reasons I don’t completely remake the game and its core grind loop or let’s say, completely overhaul stuff are as follows. A) I don’t even like how a lot of traditional games play. Quests or pseudo storyline for example are too rigid in my opinion. It doesn’t feel like an open world where your character is your own story for example. B) My old code is nightmarish to follow. To add a concept like trending concept like Parrying or deflecting, I’d have to go through every script and remake it essentially with parry reactions or behaviors in mind. C) I am actually redrawing the game! Not in the way you were saying though, it’s a weapon at a time. The way I script the abilities, animations, and VFX are now a lot better, but there are so many weapons that when I change one, it does not feel like a big change for a large group of people. I’ve recoded J13, JiraK1, Douj2, and added AmonK2, Akuma1, and Akuma2. All using the new code. It’s a very slow process though because with recodes, I also revise the kit in any way I can to make it fit into the meta more, so people actually use the weapon. D) Some concepts are too insane to add. Lots of people have suggested wall climbing, and I wanted to have RG 2 have a very active wall climbing + vertical style combat, but I can’t adapt that to RG 1 of course since the majority of the weapons are strictly 2D. Another concept would be parrying, I already talked about why it’s hard/essentially impossible to add it. If I tried it’d probably take like 4 years of just hashing in parrying codeand parrying anims. Thank you for playing or caring about RG enough to leave your feedback here. And as much as I like being compared to a loveable Pikachu, it’s not by choice! I did evolve from my weak 2018 pichu self but I can’t reach that raichu evolution until I make a new game that is scripted better from the ground up. I will continue to try to make the best out of Ro-Ghoul though. Please bear with me if you’d like!
@@sushiwalrus5333 alex, just a word of advice just reduce the grind, new game or not, just heavily reduce it i know you think you gain more money from having people afk, but a higher player base will net way more money than like a couple hundred people still beating the dead horse that is ro-ghoul and afking on it the first time i played ro-ghoul was 2019, it's about to be 2025 and i'm just barely above level 1000 on my ghoul slot, your game is literally BLOX FRUIT level, do not let it drop lower for your sake or you'll lose the thousand remaining active players
@@sushiwalrus5333 i see your points now, and i will try to wait for your game to grow even further albeit by your design of canvas or any signs of progressions in terms of the game development. May your development be great for so many people rooted you up for an update
This made me smile, the "I played this when I was 14 yr-" just made my inner child laugh (i was I think 11 or 12 yr when I played RG), I'm 18 years old now and I feel old while watching this, seeing the games I play slowly tasting meh like a bubble gum you chewed until the taste goes bye bye. Anyways just rambling here, great video, earned a sub for the nostalgia.
man, I remember being bullied in 2018 by the high level players (lmaoo the whole server targeted the level 49 me even though i did nothing) and back when there was only a couple kakuja stages. can't believe that it's still in that alpha phase though ;c
@@764xo wasn't the case for me though, it was clear targeting tbh. it was probably just kids trying to act like they own the server (those group of people were pretty much jackasses)
Honestly I think what would make Ro Ghoul better again is a better model for (SOME) Kagune/Kakuja, expanding on what already existed from the anime, new simple things such as new map, or larger map/expansion, sewer or whatever it is that the player can roam around more. I also think that Gya boss fight is extremely good, players normally come to term without speaking a word by allying other people, I think a system that make the player interact with each other is going to up the game to a good level. On a side note, things that got overdone shouldn't really be in the game too, like Godzilla or Kong. It just feels like a transformation rather than something out of Tokyo Ghoul which is well, a ghoul/monster-like creatures that doesn't look like it comes from earth. Sound design in my opinion is bad, could use some work but I don't think it has to be fancy. Just some remixing on monsters roar should be fine. SUMMARY: A common enemy npc to bring the community together, so it isn't a 24/7 ww2 all the time Anti hacking fix pls Soft remodel to some kakuja Expand or remodel the things that got taken off of the anime. Map complexity + expansion
so uhh, i used to be an HR in goat as well, along with a few friends of mine but that was around 2 to 3 years ago. i realize how people started acting cringey as hell (i mean, in hindsight it was understandable, most of them were kids). the game's only ever fun when you're: 1. max level on either files, or both 2. you're hopping on with friends to fuck around for a bit bc you have nothing better to do 3. faction wars. but even so, you end up spending hours upon hours queuing for a spot, hoping for someone to leave so you can join the server. this is speaking from firsthand experience. other than those three reasons, even i barely touched the game, and now i only hop on to check new kagune/quinque and dip. vfx and models have improved over time, yes (but we dont talk about the latest vampire kagune), but the sfx have always stayed the same with minimal new sounds, most of them being reused audio which is slightly tweaked to sound marginally different. instead of making QoL changes or map updates, sushi focuses more on reworking starter weapons that no one use after level 750. the combat is HEAVILY ping reliant (as seen with the "sliding" technique where you essentially stack dashing with a move, only achievable under 100 ping). i'm surprised i even played the game at all since back then, OCE servers didn't exist and i'm all the way in new zealand.
As an old HR from calamity, part of the old war and reinforcement squad(i had no life) and the guy who carried them in arena for their mask in 2019-2020 before the clan went downhill, couldnt agree more with everyting you have said. At least the game is getting more regular updates now but they arent anything too major except helping new players, which IS good, but its the minority of the people playing the game
When I first saw the gameplay, I thought the Skills acts like many standard RPG but to my surprised its like Shinobi life 2 that came out in 2007. The moves are...pretty generic and simple to 2007-2012 kind of vibes.
I want to suggest you a game called Black Magic 2. I feel like this is the most underrated fighting game on the entire platform, the prequel, Black Magic 1 released back in 2008 and i think it was the first roblox fighting game ever made, however it's pretty outdated now. But Black Magic 2 came out in 2017 and its a day-to-night difference when it comes to game design and overall experience. Right now people are HEAVILY slept on this game, please do a review on it, you won't regret.
Tbh, I think that it’s just easier to retain an audience of players when your game is based on something they can reference and be involved with outside of the game. My friends and I did some work on a bleach game a while back and the reasoning was 1. Because we love the anime. 2. Bleach didn’t have any major games at the time while the last one was dying and Type Soul hadn’t come out yet. And 3. If we had to come up with an entirely original game I feel it would have taken well over the time we had to work on a game
The best part about the autofarm exploit is the one you see has been around for years. The dude has never patched it. Also it's terrible on fps, he says he optimizes it but the average computer cannot run it at all.
I think people still play Ro ghoul because of its pvp aspect like it is the fastest pace combat I've played even I don't think DMC or any other game is as fast as this and the combat feels great
Honestly... this is gonna be very subjective but I find it horrible, roblox is NOT a good platform for the game, if you are far enough from the servers you are gonna *suffer* god forbid you play on hesse/england servers, you are praying for paris or some polish server because roblox must have rented servers from the worst place ever Of course this is europe exclusive, I have tried american servers and found them way more stable and I can even get 190ms, which is pretty good for someone from eastern europe of all places
Should be an edit but well had to say it, it's not my internet, I have well below 30ms on league, valorant, cs and have tried out other fast paced games, not once has it above 50ms like on roblox where it spikes easily to 300-500ms
@@fitmotheyap Roblox in general isnt made for fast paced combat. Even in slower paced combat the hitboxes can be weird, even with good ping. As someone who has worked on roblox studio, this shit is a pain to deal with and thats without considering that most people have 200+ ms. The only positive about roblox studio is that its easy to learn and use
The low cd spam combat is one of the game's only selling points ngl. It's easy to pickup the basics of combat and once you max out and get good, the 1v1s are very fast-paced, especially against top-tier players who can blitz around the arena, combo consistently, and land attacks with near perfect accuracy. The combat system isn't deep or anything, but there is an audience for it.
@@corvidcorax this is what i call a " simple complex fighting game " the gameplay is simple, but thats what makes it "deep" like how chess is complex but it is simple
The combat was braindead spam only on low skill fights, at least when i used to play a lot in 2019 and carried calamity in arena(good times), but i dont know how much current ro ghoul combat has changed other than combos and stuns being the main thing. The combat back then just fit this nice sweet spot between fast paced but skillful, obviously ignoring that the balancing was horrible and only two quinque and kakujas were really viable competitively. At least the second part seems to be somewhat solved with more frequent updates now
Wanted to play this game a LOT back in the day when i didn't even have any pcs at home but after getting it ( literally buying my own pc after years) the game did NOT live up to what it once was man. Very sad times we live in.
Maybe the reason sushiwarlus doesn't update the map is because of the fear of killing the game the same way Boku no Roblox did which died the instant they updated the map
There was fighting games before Ro-Ghoul... I rememebr an Battlegrounds Game from 2016 called "One Piece Name 2" It was surpsisingly fun, because it was super busted. Like the Paw-Paw fruit could gen uienly nuke the whole map, Ito-Ito could make players into puppets, Venom-Venom could ground you with its poison, etc. Idk how it would hold up to today's standards as a game though, but I wish anotherg ame would have the courage to try doing something similar.
also the game still holds up today in my opinion, a copy named opn2 test by "tooling" is open and playable there was also a spiritual successor made by MaplGalaxy called One Piece Name 3, you might want to check that out it's not really the same as the original, though
This game was a big part of my childhood, back when the only anime I had ever watched other than dragon ball was Tokyo Ghoul, this game was extremely good for his time, the memories I have from this is simply insane. Glad to see people still play it even though it hasnt changed much 😊
I still sometimes go to the game when updates come out and sometimes linger there and playing, I feel that everything is the same as it was before, maybe it's bad in terms of game development, but I get a warm feeling of nostalgia when you were running around farming new kagune as always and testing it, when new kakuja or new quinque came out. Yeah and still something fun can still be found in this game to this day :D
As someone who still plays the game occasionally, the more you talk to the community the more you realize taking months off the game at a time is extremely normal as whilst the game is fun, the player base goes through cycles of hating and loving it. Also the ENTIRE community agrees with the fact that the game is filled with extremely bad aspects and we accept that most of them won't be fixed any time soon.
Ro Ghoul were super funny becore SSS Owl update, that is first broken weapon that destroyed the whole joy we had with simple but funny and accurate things
0:50 into the video serves probably the most invalid criticism of this entire video, which is solely because what's the point on insulting creators for creating games based on what they're interested, be it popular or not? If there is love for the series put into the creation of the game there should not be insult to those making their creation based on a series. That is one of the single most invalid things to poke fun at when Roblox content is currently so oversaturated with battlegrounds BS. I understand that the rest of the video will be correct, but please try to think before making such a nonsensical point in the form of an insulting joke.
What made the grind game worse was that autoclicking used to be bannable (or still is idk) I got banned back in like 2018 on my main account, i went today and checked, i am still banned. I forever have to use alt accounts to play this game because they had to make the grind for this game tedious and annoying.
i remember being apart of The Owls group, what a time but that was when i was at my prime (like 14 or 12) and ro-ghoul will always have a special place in my heart but Alex definitely is stalling the development.
OMG SOUTH NEW DROP OMG I AM SUCH A BIG FAN PLS NOTICE ME I ACTUALLY DIED BECAUSE I GOT BITTEN BY A DINOSAUR BUT I GOT REVIVED TO WATCH YOUR VIDEO PLIS NOTICE ME
Ro ghoul could be a pretty fun game if it removed all the grind and focused only on the combat aspects and changed from being just a ffa game to another gamemode
ive honestly been playing ro-ghoul since really early 2018, where even shit like kenk1 was a rare sight. i enjoyed it at the time since tokyo ghoul was an anime i liked and it seemed high quality compared to the other tokyo ghoul games out there. i actually played it for a solid year or two since new content during the early days actually felt like something big, although i was hesitant to grind further due to the looming threat that is the data reset (which might as well be an urban legend by this point). however, 2019 was the year where i got to play ro-ghoul the most since it was when the reworks were frequent and those seemed insanely cool at the time. i genuinely think the amount of whole-day autoclicking i did just to get narukami before its rework mightve contributed to frying my laptop at the time. i farmed like hell for the reworks that were upcoming, especially the ones for the eto stages just so i could flex it to my friends and shit. but unfortunately my interest in the game started fading out real quick before i even realized. i went from grinding the game as much as i could to doing anything i can to not touch it for more than a minute. after coming back from playing other games to take time off from the ro-ghoul burnout, i just realized that the gameplay loop was just severely uninteresting, pretty much the video game equivalent of watching paint dry. it got to a point where id just hop on youtube instead of the game itself or just buy shit with robux to check out what the new update was because grinding was genuinely tedious and boring. grind manually, and you subject yourself to a loop of nothing burgers for hours just to see numbers go up, or just autoclick and basically not play the game. theres been times where id occasionally check in on the game by looking it up on youtube to see how its doing and what the new updates are, and almost 90% of it is just the same update format its had for more than half a decade where its just kagune and quinque after kagune and quinque. it honestly baffled me and somewhat impressed me how a game stood this long with a borderline unchanged boring gameplay loop for years. but there was one time where an update actually intrigued me, it was the gyakusatsu update. a unique update that added new gameplay and wasnt a kagune/quinque or an additional to content that's years old? fuck yeah dude, count me in, im always down when it comes to adding more variety and actually having gameplay that isnt a mind numbing loop for hours. i hope more updates like this come out. and then after that it just reverted back to the usual update loop. lmao.
It doesn't help that the creator is a pdf who would openly flirt with minors in his twitch discord server, alongside womanizing every girl he ever met into giving him either free art for his game or just art in general for him.
@@ARandomEliatrope I havent seen any evidence of this even from people that hate alex. If its true why are you posting it on a youtube comment instead of actually try to show people the evidence. In leveling there are various ways to level up quick especially trainers and boss they give so much exp and once you can start damaging eto you can go to the wierd thumbs sticking out and save up the rc you get and redeem it *easy exp*
I hate that I can’t just press q and dash, id actually pick the game up again if I could dash easily cause the new work around is just odd and not very intuitive and the double press WASD destroys my hands and makes my arthritis just kick into full gear
There were roblox games like this well before ro ghoul. They were mostly for Server Side script testing though. These are what the script fighting games took use of. The original script fighting game was taken down when roblox stopped supporting "experimental" games which I to this day have no idea what was meant by that
Anyone here remember the Dark Army clan (or guild, whatever groups were called), that shit was awesome until whatever happened with Sushi happened (think some simping happened if I remember correctly.

I used to be one of the OG faction owners for "V Ro-ghoul" and I had a conversation with alex (the game owner). He said he never planned on releasing the game out of Alpha Phase which is dumb as hell.
I dont know if that werewolf form or whatever that is was in the game the last time i played(years ago), but if i was to ever go back to ro-ghoul it would only be because of that, alone. Though i probably would have to either pay robux or grind until my eyes melt to get it, so...
They are still updating and working on it, but they should take more inspiration from the manga and just use the anime’s style for the kagune and quinque, as well as revamping the graphics and map. It’d be a lot of work but the payoff would be huge. Hell they could actually make it a proper game instead of just spamming kill npc’s then fighting some guys still on Ken2
It's hard to defend Alex on this one. Being a solo dev isn't an excuse since I've seen other solo devs do much more. If he plans on making another Ro-Ghoul game, it's best if he actually follows through this time. I told him in another comment in another video to just abandon the game at this point. Unsolicited and harsh but that's what I feel about the game. I've been playing ever since before the first kakuja was released and stopped playing some time around 2020 or 2021 due to how boring the game ended up to be. Delete data, remake the game, just do whatever you can to make the game better. I liked the idea but the execution could've been so much better. The combat is what hooked me up. It was simple and pretty easy to grasp on though I wish it had more gimmicks. The lag is absolutely ass. It was my number one issue from the game and it still is. Anyways, good video.
ro ghoul was peak, i used to be in a group called GOAT, met alot of people there but i don't have a single one from that server in my contacts anymore, truly golden times. i was Themightysummoner (my alt was Galavator)
I stopped playing the game a few years ago when I realized that its just going to be the same "proof of concept" demo for the rest of time. ALSO, the fact that mobility is based around constantly dodging was so bad that my W key LITERALLY BROKE on my laptop at the time because of how much I had to dodge.
Theres only one dev left, its alex hes the only dev in there.the only thing keeping it alive is the factions and groups to prevent it from dropping to 20 players left
i played this game on RELEASE. i was there when they first added owl and eto and kanekis kakuja. its like Warthunder syndrome js copy and paste. so many updates with little to no change at ALL. owl still looks the same as it did on release. new abiliteis are all seemingly half assed and feels like taking a bite into a dry ass chicken sandwich

My community tends to want the game to stay exactly the same, just essentially buffing and nerfing certain kits.
If you have more criticisms or details please do tell me more. I think your perspective is good to know more about since you are an experienced roblox player, but not a overly eager or committed RG player specifically. A well educated fresh set of eyes essentially.
i honestly think ro ghoul is a massive show of wasted potential
your models and animations are impeccable
exactly what's needed for a game with weird funky tentacles (not exactly easy to animate or model as it needs to look like it's alive)
but the gameplay is overall just vomitive and i feel like nowadays after 7 years you could make a way better game (that would hopefully not be a disgusting grindfest because only brazilian kids without a life are grinding on roblox games as of 2024)
ro ghoul gameplay is sadly a simulator game in it's essence
Hey Alex, I appreciate the response!
I do apologize for a few misinformation in the video, most of the things I said were off the top of my head while writing the script for this. I'm also aware that a lot of things shown in the video are very rage baity but I hope you can understand it's for the sake of content 😭
I'm not a professional video game critic, so a lot of the things I say are heavily influenced by my own personal experience as far as I can remember.

Please bear with me if you’d like!

alex, just a word of advice
just reduce the grind, new game or not, just heavily reduce it
i know you think you gain more money from having people afk, but a higher player base will net way more money than like a couple hundred people still beating the dead horse that is ro-ghoul and afking on it
the first time i played ro-ghoul was 2019, it's about to be 2025 and i'm just barely above level 1000 on my ghoul slot, your game is literally BLOX FRUIT level, do not let it drop lower for your sake or you'll lose the thousand remaining active players

@@764xo wasn't the case for me though, it was clear targeting tbh.

(those group of people were pretty much jackasses)
Just some remixing on monsters roar should be fine.

so uhh, i used to be an HR in goat as well, along with a few friends of mine
but that was around 2 to 3 years ago. i realize how people started acting cringey as hell (i mean, in hindsight it was understandable, most of them were kids). the game's only ever fun when you're:
1. max level on either files, or both
2. you're hopping on with friends to fuck around for a bit bc you have nothing better to do
3. faction wars. but even so, you end up spending hours upon hours queuing for a spot, hoping for someone to leave so you can join the server. this is speaking from firsthand experience.
other than those three reasons, even i barely touched the game, and now i only hop on to check new kagune/quinque and dip.
vfx and models have improved over time, yes (but we dont talk about the latest vampire kagune), but the sfx have always stayed the same with minimal new sounds, most of them being reused audio which is slightly tweaked to sound marginally different. instead of making QoL changes or map updates, sushi focuses more on reworking starter weapons that no one use after level 750. the combat is HEAVILY ping reliant (as seen with the "sliding" technique where you essentially stack dashing with a move, only achievable under 100 ping). i'm surprised i even played the game at all since back then, OCE servers didn't exist and i'm all the way in new zealand.
As an old HR from calamity, part of the old war and reinforcement squad(i had no life) and the guy who carried them in arena for their mask in 2019-2020 before the clan went downhill, couldnt agree more with everyting you have said.

I think people still play Ro ghoul because of its pvp aspect like it is the fastest pace combat I've played even I don't think DMC or any other game is as fast as this and the combat feels great
Honestly... this is gonna be very subjective but I find it horrible, roblox is NOT a good platform for the game, if you are far enough from the servers you are gonna *suffer* god forbid you play on hesse/england servers, you are praying for paris or some polish server because roblox must have rented servers from the worst place ever
Of course this is europe exclusive, I have tried american servers and found them way more stable and I can even get 190ms, which is pretty good for someone from eastern europe of all places
I'm one of those but I still ended up quitting. I stayed for awhile because of friends.
i honestly enjoy ro-ghoul's combat the most, the new battleground games like TSB dont really interest me
The low cd spam combat is one of the game's only selling points ngl.
At least the second part seems to be somewhat solved with more frequent updates now
I love this game, even with its super old map and low quality textures I find the game addicting even until now

It's not like they can do anything with it cause tokyo ghoul was already milked and dried
I still sometimes go to the game when updates come out and sometimes linger there and playing, I feel that everything is the same as it was before, maybe it's bad in terms of game development, but I get a warm feeling of nostalgia when you were running around farming new kagune as always and testing it, when new kakuja or new quinque came out. ive honestly been playing ro-ghoul since really early 2018, where even shit like kenk1 was a rare sight. i enjoyed it at the time since tokyo ghoul was an anime i liked and it seemed high quality compared to the other tokyo ghoul games out there. i actually played it for a solid year or two since new content during the early days actually felt like something big, although i was hesitant to grind further due to the looming threat that is the data reset (which might as well be an urban legend by this point).
however, 2019 was the year where i got to play ro-ghoul the most since it was when the reworks were frequent and those seemed insanely cool at the time. i genuinely think the amount of whole-day autoclicking i did just to get narukami before its rework mightve contributed to frying my laptop at the time. i farmed like hell for the reworks that were upcoming, especially the ones for the eto stages just so i could flex it to my friends and shit. but unfortunately my interest in the game started fading out real quick before i even realized.
i went from grinding the game as much as i could to doing anything i can to not touch it for more than a minute. after coming back from playing other games to take time off from the ro-ghoul burnout, i just realized that the gameplay loop was just severely uninteresting, pretty much the video game equivalent of watching paint dry. it got to a point where id just hop on youtube instead of the game itself or just buy shit with robux to check out what the new update was because grinding was genuinely tedious and boring. grind manually, and you subject yourself to a loop of nothing burgers for hours just to see numbers go up, or just autoclick and basically not play the game. theres been times where id occasionally check in on the game by looking it up on youtube to see how its doing and what the new updates are, and almost 90% of it is just the same update format its had for more than half a decade where its just kagune and quinque after kagune and quinque. it honestly baffled me and somewhat impressed me how a game stood this long with a borderline unchanged boring gameplay loop for years. but there was one time where an update actually intrigued me, it was the gyakusatsu update. a unique update that added new gameplay and wasnt a kagune/quinque or an additional to content that's years old? fuck yeah dude, count me in, im always down when it comes to adding more variety and actually having gameplay that isnt a mind numbing loop for hours. i hope more updates like this come out.
and then after that it just reverted back to the usual update loop. lmao.

Im 20, I've been watching youtube since I was like 7 or even younger, and with all honesty I'm gonna say this is one of the best videos I've seen on this platform
Ur voice is so crisp I always sit and watch ur vids and think that very thing but...yes I 100% agree with you about ro ghoul especially the sound because when I fight people I sit and think to myself and ponder what in the f
Who remembers the other Tokyo Ghoul game, I think before it was bloody nights.
Ibemaine was rocking the tryhard green and purple 2000 fits when this game was fun
The fact that this game (7-8 year old) is now older than some of roblox current players is disturbing
randomly remembered this from years ago but forgot the name of it, glad to see it pop up on my recommended.
There were roblox games like this well before ro ghoul. They were mostly for Server Side script testing though. These are what the script fighting games took use of. The original script fighting game was taken down when roblox stopped supporting "experimental" games which I to this day have no idea what was meant by that
Anyone here remember the Dark Army clan (or guild, whatever groups were called), that shit was awesome until whatever happened with Sushi happened (think some simping happened if I remember correctly.
lmao that game was THE game back in 2019, made lotta friends there, ended w sum, sum broken, stayed in my memory forever lmao
i really hoped theyd make a good update one day... two years passed since i played it on day one and still nothing
i gave up on it for years after and...its still the same after i went back lmao
Roghoul is still alive?? 😭
I used to be one of the OG faction owners for "V Ro-ghoul" and I had a conversation with alex (the game owner). He said he never planned on releasing the game out of Alpha Phase which is dumb as hell.
the bodies vanishing into thin is a glitch on ur end its a hellicopter coming to pick up the bodies and pulling it up on CCG
I feel like the last clip really brought the entire video together
i played this game on RELEASE. i was there when they first added owl and eto and kanekis kakuja. its like Warthunder syndrome js copy and paste. so many updates with little to no change at ALL. owl still looks the same as it did on release. new abiliteis are all seemingly half assed and feels like taking a bite into a dry ass chicken sandwich
5 years ago i grinded that, and nothing changed at all
love the video this was really fun to watch
BUT
it is funny how you title this refusing to innovate and its about how roblox devs cant make any new ideas and then play fisching (a 1 to 1 copy of stardew valley fishing minigame)
Don't u dare slap on my beloved fishing simulators. My 20 hours of fishing in deepwoken were some of the best hours of my life 🥹
love me a difficult fishing game.
(You're free to hate all u want lmao i do gamedev and in a contest the top 3 were all fishing games LMAO)

Almost 7 years of playing it, one of the best games in my life
Imagine it gets the ultimate update in a couple of weeks
about the map changing, i feel like changing it would ruin it cuz its just nostalgic
@@zypxier True but i would argue the og map is even more nostalgic even tho navigating around it was pain
