    I actually sell bamboo as a private seller. I have very limited quantity. I only carry incense bamboo (phyllostachys astrovaginata). Growing very well in my "almost" four year old grove. Extremely cold hardy, extremely drought hardy, flood hardy. I live in northern Utah, so it takes extremes.

      I also live in northern Utah, and am interested in planting bamboo. What is the name of your business and/or contact information? Or is there a way I can contact you privately?

    My sister’s neighbor planted bamboo, the running kind, which my sister quickly renamed damboo. It took over my sister’s backyard. She tried everything to kill it, to no avail. It would grow a foot a day. Her backyard had to be completely dug up to get the rhizomes out. She sold that house. I’m glad to hear you got the clumping kind. I would hate for you to have to go through what she did. Y’all have made a big difference on that property. Looks like things are going well for y’all. I’ve missed y’all. Give Little Miss Sunshine a hug for me. Blessings, Love & Hugs from Vicki in Ft. Worth, Texas 🇨🇱🇺🇸👍❤️🥰🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

      I am in Granbury, Texas and looking for a bamboo privacy screen in my backyard to make neighbors disapear. Having a difficult time trying to figure out a good clumping Bamboo to use. Was looking at Fargesia Robusta or Golden Goddess or maybe others. Anyone have suggestions? Growing zone 8, north Texas.

      Actually if you take the time to learn about how any bamboo grows it actually can be managed without all the craziness. You have to work with nature and unfortunately most of the time when one goes to battle with bamboo they are working against it and that is a no win situation. If you learn about how it grows and spreads and when the plant is robust and when it is weaker you can use all of that to your advantage. Plus also learning about timing with bamboo is vital. Even running bamboo can be Managed if you arm yourself with knowledge of the species (it's different then most other plants) and you work with nature. Just wanted to say that Incase anyone was on the fence regarding it and read your message.

      This method was much more expensive per linear foot than a traditional wooden fence. In this instance it worked out though but we needed it to be very high. My home is on a hill so that was very important to me. The bamboo will also create a thick sound barrier which is very helpful if your neighbors are loud.

    I love bamboo. That is going to be a nice fence line. I learned that bamboo is a great resource about 10 years ago. Companys have learned to use it in all kinds of things. I love my bamboo sheets. Here in the heat of Florida it sure helps. because they are cooler than cotton.

    Things may likely have changed in 2 years, but where the brush was to prevent erosion, I wonder if berry brambles or ostrich ferns might work as part of edible food forestry. By chance, although it is not a human food staple like those, button bush feeds pollinators and is resilient in both rainy and arrid areas. The USDA also includes some history on the plant. Among the scientists who've studied it was a phD student named Gabriel Trujillo. I did not know him, but deeply respect the dedication to his field biology work before his recent passing.

      @madtabula6638 4 роки тому

      @@Schmunzel57 Totally get your point and I didn't mean to come of as uncaring. But why 500 years in the future? Bambusa genus with over 1400 known species has been around way longer than civilized man so wouldn't it have already taken over at points in the past? But you are correct when we plant something we need to be good stewards and not let it take over.

    • @Schmunzel57
      @Schmunzel57 4 роки тому

      @@madtabula6638 Today Bamboo is where it developed and where Humans put it. It was not spreading all over the world because it spread in a tempo that all the counteracting organisms could catch up with and mainly because. It is bound to regions it can not leave because of to big barriers like deserts.
      It grows fast if the ground is not to extreme. It can cover ground in forests so long that all seeds and little trees of other species die, so you get forests made from Bamboo. In those forests is less variety because not many different species are growing. And that is en environment you get different kinds of bamboo but can’t go back to trees. The photosynthesis is a bid more efficient in grass so bamboo will take over all places that are not to cold for grass.
      So, why not native plants?
