      Yea unfortunately there is only so much you can do. Once the N came out the N line was not worth the "research and development". Not to mention companies switched their attention to the N platform knowing they could make more power without any road blocks since it's the same platform as the Veloster N. As far as I know there are still no tuning capabilities for the 1.6T smart stream engines ECU. I spoke with many big names tuners. Even KDM Tuners and he said the software just isn't available to tune it. Someone would have to jailbreak that ECU or get someone who works at Hyundai to tell them how. It's just not a thing probably won't be. Other companies decided not to grow on that 1.6 platform.

The Elantra was more so purchased in hopes of being able to have modifications done and still have that space for my kids. However the N came out of the Elantra and most places didn’t make anything so it was a boring platform. Both were great for what they were.

      No it does not. It's technically not a tuner. It's a piggy back system so you are not tuning the ECU there will be no trace. You are fooling the ECU into over boosting but not by a ton enough to make some more power and notice a difference.

    I know you replied to someone else that you dont know how much horsepower this had added. But if you were to guess, is it 10-25, 25-50, 50-75, 75-100? Any sort of educated guess would be helpful. And does this jb4 also increase the torque of the vehicle? If so, can you give a educated guess on that as well please?

    • @darkowlmoto
      @darkowlmoto  Місяць тому +1

      I intentionally did not give an educated guess as it's a minimal jump in power and torque. This is not a tuner but a piggy back so for an honest educated guess I'd honestly say 10-15hp over stock and that's pushing it a bit. Torque seems to be the number that is realistically the number people would want to know as that's what you're more likely to feel with this device. 15ft lbs. Again this device lets you squeeze out minutes amount of power and torque. It's not a ton. You're fooling the ECU into thinking it's under powered essentially so it compensates. Now, having said that I feel it's definitely worth the money as you can feel a difference big time over stock. Pair it with a throttle controller to allow more engine power off the line and it feels like it should have felt from the factory. It's fun. But I didn't feel like staying numbers because in all it's honestly hard to give a number.

      Running a catch can is a waste of money on this car. If you have the n line with the 1.6T smartstream engine you will not get any blow by. Why’s the best tune or brand of tune that you can get for this car. I just want to add abt 100hp to it for it to be quicker. Is the JB4 the best, or are there other ones that work better for less money or just work better in general?

    • @darkowlmoto
      @darkowlmoto  5 місяців тому +1

      There are only piggy backs from what I know. As soon as the actual Elantra N came out nobody really wanted to expand the N line with performance parts. But I have found personally the best was the jb4. As far as tuning and tunes there aren't any tuning capabilities for the N line because of the locked ecu from factory. The software is there to tune. But someone would have to get the ecu jailbroken and able to be tuned. That's ehy I soon mine as I did everything possible. There are companies out there who can work with the jb4 and fine tune that software to get more power. There's a guy in Puerto Rico who claims he's making loads of power off his jb4 from a tuner down there. Not sure any more.

    About how much more hp do you get ? It says it can go to 100hp more is that true ?

    • @darkowlmoto
      @darkowlmoto  8 місяців тому

      I don't think so. Not in the 1.6t N line. The N line is super restricted on what can be done. You can't even get a legit tune for the ECU. Companies that were going to work on tuning for the N line stopped trying as there is no software to crack into the ECU. If you can find someone who fine tune the JB4 and get you a bit more bang for your buck, go that route. The JB4 isn't a tune so much it's just a piggy back system runs off of your connections under the hood. It fools the system into allowing you to make so much more boost over stock which gives you a bit more power. Just not 100hp worth. Not on the N line.

    • @darkowlmoto
      @darkowlmoto  2 роки тому

      No you do not have to cut anything open. I personally cut a small slit in the boot that’s in the firewall so I can run the OBD2 cord through into the firewall. You can take the boot out. Or you could run it under the edge of the boot. I just opted to cut a small slit. Less work. The OBD2 cord is worth it when monitoring your vehicles sensors if you plan on running Map3. You cannot use the gauges on the app without running the OBD2 cord from the JB4 to the port under the dash.
