  • ANIMAL CLIMATE HEROES! Meet Some of the Critters Combating Climate Change with Dr. Allison Pearce Stevens, moderated by Naomi Boak '74
Discouraged about the effects of climate change? Wondering how we can inspire the next generation to action and not give up before they even start? Join Alison Pearce Stevens, author of Animal Climate Heroes, a book for children, to learn how animals help stem the tide of their archnemesis-climate change. Poo-nados, armpit pockets, tree trampling, and mighty claws-oh my! This event is for parents, educators, and the young at heart.
    From Animal Climate Heroes:
“Meet climate change. It’s not a living, breathing supervillain, but it acts like one just the same. Every year, the effects of climate change get worse. Record-setting natural disasters happen more often. More land burns. More rain falls-or none at all. Temperatures soar to new heights. Stronger storms kick up more damaging winds.
Sounds like it’s time to call in some superheroes! What heroes, you ask? You. Me. Anyone who cares about the planet we live on. Our voices and our actions are our superpowers. We can
change the world when we try. We also need to call on a special group of heroes. They’re already out there in the wild, working to keep our climate in check, and we need their help. Who are these climate heroes?”

About Stanford Alumni for Climate Action (SACA)
This event is presented by Stanford Alumni for Climate Action (SACA). SACA is a subgroup of Stanford Alumni in Sustainability (SAS). We are a non-partisan group of Stanford alumni deeply concerned about the devastating effects of climate change. Our purpose is to educate ourselves and inspire the wider community at Stanford to join us in taking action-small and large, individual and collective-to address this existential challenge to life on earth. We wish to support efforts by Stanford administrators, faculty, staff, students, and alumni to make the university a leader in clean energy and science-based solutions for the benefit of our planet and for future generations.
