    Here is another educational screenprinting video about curing plastisol textile inks. I know I have addressed this in many ways in other videos but I get the question, “how long does it take to cure plastisol inks?” almost daily. If you have ever asked this question, then this video will really explain the deal with the curing of plastisol inks on fabrics. Here you will learn about how to properly use the infrared temperature gun to see if your shirts are fully cured and ready for the customer. I explain how the temp gun works and how to get the correct cure temperature reading from the ink in the oven chamber. If you’re in the market to buy a belt dryer, this video will also help when you’re asking about the ratings of shirts per hour. Check out this informative tutorial screen printing video and learn what you need to know about curing plastisol textile inks. You’ll be printing with confidence in no time at all with a little help from Catspit Productions, LLC. Enjoy!

    Thank you Cat Spit for all the videos that you have done. I have decided to start my own shirt business to support my family since I can't find a job due to my disability. Your video has been very educational and hopefully, my business will take off or become successful.

    Hi! Thanks for the brilliant videos! I'm just starting out so have a question based on conflicting info:
    Does the entire ink layer need to just REACH 330f (or whatever the manufacturer states at the curing temp) or does it need to reach it and sustain it for a set period?

    • @CatspitProductions
      @CatspitProductions  4 роки тому +3

      Nice, you're welcome. Glad you enjoy my videos. Usually the entire ink layer needs to reach temp. Once it has, it should be cured. It's the time it takes to reach temp that is necessary to figure out so you don't under cure or scorch the garment. Thanks for watching! The shirt fuming is a good thing as long as it didn't get scorched... LOL ;) A print/flash/print will definitely need some heat to cure nicely. Good luck! Thanks for watching. Screen Printing Equipment & Supplies - catspitscreenprintsupply.com/

    My flash dryer temperature sometimes hit 390F or 410F. Does that mean I can lower my cure time to maybe 15-20 seconds in those cases? Because I sometime burn the shirts.

    • @CatspitProductions
      @CatspitProductions  4 роки тому +1

      If you're burning the shirts then yes, I would say reduce the time or raise the flash cure some. But in the end the tips I gave in this video will apply. Thanks for watching! Screen Printing Equipment & Supplies - CatspitScreenPrintSupply.com/

    Good informative video. I've a question. I print plastisol ink on tees and use heat gun to first heat it. And then use a automatic heat press with low pressure and TEFLON on top for final cure. Am I doing it right
    2-also when I print red ink on black tshirt, after using the heart gun the red ink is still red, however after using the heat press the colour fades, though I get a smooth surface finish

    • @CatspitProductions
      @CatspitProductions  8 років тому +2

      Thank you! Glad you enjoyed the video. As long as the printed ink reaches the cure temp, then yes. That will work. The fading of the red ink may have to do with the way it is being cured perhaps. Try less pressure so it won't sink into the knit as much. Thanks for watching. So, how long does it take to burn a white t-shirt and how long to burn a black t-shirt at 330 degrees F?...Seems like the easiest way to answer the question and it would make a funny/interesting video.

      @CatspitProductions  6 років тому +1

      LOL... what you mean actually burn? On fire? You want me to burn the place down? Haha... That would be a funny video indeed ;) I'll look into it. Thanks for watching. Screen Printing Equipment & Supplies - catspitscreenprintsupply.com/

      CatspitProductions No, not to the point of ignition! Just till the shirt scorches a bit, you know the difference between burning and ruined, right? I'm thinking of a difinitive number that you can absolutly say "you've baked it too long, if you go past 4 min @350 f" or something like that, to end the mystery.
      I dont want to see you or your shop harmed in any way, I honestly enjoy your videos it would be a shame to cause you any grief!

      LOL... I was kidding around but that experiment would need to be more scientific that I may be able to accomplish. I would also have to do a set for metal and MDF pallets. Who wants to come by and help me with all the details? ;) Thanks for watching. Screen Printing Equipment & Supplies - catspitscreenprintsupply.com/

    Can you over cure your ink? If so, what are the consequences. Thanks!

      You'll burn the tee shirt before you can burn plastisol inks. Thanks for watching! Screen Printing Equipment & Supplies - CatspitScreenPrintSupply.com/

      If You over cure your ink there will be something known as fish eyes and or the ink will just come off...it will have lot of missing ink and the air creates bubbles creating fish eyes you shirt may scorch a little but if its black shirt there's no way of knowing...if its scorched a lot you can feel and can see...You want to make sure your not under curing more importantly because that's not so obvious...and a lot of people new and professional under cure there shirts everyday is different based on the season your printing and the weather for that day....

    • @CatspitProductions
      @CatspitProductions  6 років тому +1

      Yeah for beginners I don't recommend worrying about over curing plastisol inks. You're talking about what we call "orange peel" effect where the ink becomes very textured like a basket ball or orange peel. Like I said the truth is if you're running hot enough to burn plastisol inks, you're scorching the fabric very badly. You can test a black shirt for scorching by trying to tear it with your hands. If it's scorched badly and burned, like it would be if the plastisol ink orange peeled, it will tear. Thanks for watching! Screen Printing Equipment & Supplies - CatspitScreenPrintSupply.com/
