    THANK YOU to everyone who pointed out that I had made a mistake in turning my World Movement down to reduce the camera pitch. It should have been turned up to reduce the effect. I've released a short video to compare the extremes of the World Movement settings: ua-cam.com/video/8uR4qf-vJP0/v-deo.html

    I found this video useful, even though I don't yet have AMS2. Your explanations are always clear, and you provide the technical background. Thanks.

    It has to be said that moving your seat too much, especially to the back, can in the end feel worse than adjusting your FOV a bit, and have a more of an impact on your driving, so it's a balancing act. It can end up feeling like you're sitting in the rear seat of the car, too disconnected from it.

      I found that when you put the in game camera on the coordinates where the wheel is, that you have to measure your fov with the distance between your wheel and the screen.
      So probably, when your camera stays where the head of the driver would normally be, you should use the distance between the screen and your eyes,
      I don’t know this for sure,
      But, at least with me it feels very good

    I know the classic repeated reply to my question, which is "you can adjust seat height, fore aft and pitch to your liking and it will still be a realistic view as long as the FOV is realistic". I don't know why, but in practice, I never agreed with that. I always try to adjust those 3 and it's always a guess work. I really really wonder if there is a solid way to know the following: If I was sitting in a car and put a frame at the same distance from my eyes as the screen is, what will I exactly see? I can explain more: play with the pitch in a sim and you will feel that the road is going uphill or downhill. There is no pitch button in your car seat and even if there is and you adjusted your seat all the way from one extreme to the other, there is no way your view to the world, car height, hood and area just in front of the hood visibility and finally is the road going up and downhill, all those that I mentioned you can understand them in real life no matter the seat adjustment you did. While in simulators you don't know what option is right and what option makes you see what you should see in real life. I don't know if anyone on earth thinks the same or if that made sense to any, but I've been vocal about this for a long time but never got any answer.

    cheers mike! ... i think people get a bit to excited ,as with most guides you can use the tools and see if those settings work...
    for many it will,others like you pointed out it wont suit. ... but thats all part of the fun!

    I found that when I put my camera just where the wheel of the virtual car is (so you can’t see it anymore,
    That you have to measure the distance between the screen and my wheel (real life)
    Then it looks like your (real life) wheel is standing in the right place of the car, and the fov feels good

    World movement value is actually reversed (like in pc2) so what you did is turn it up not down. It’s a bit weird but check it, its true.

    Hello Simracing604, I just found out, that the FOV calculators are ALL WRONG!!! You do not need a calculator. Just sit down in your rig, set the in game seat on zero vertical and horizontal... and now let the magic happen... Grap the wheel... look to the horizon... adjust ONLY the fov to the point of immersion when it looks like your own hand on the ingame wheel in your peripherial view... BAM!!! Start the engine and FEEL THE MAGIC!!!
    NOTE: My FOV calculator said a FOV would be correct... 50 inch 21:9 screen and eyes 82 cm away in AMS2 71 degree... and from car to car I had to adjust the seat... This works, but try the other way... THE IMMSERION STARTS HERE!!! Now my FOV is between 100 and 104... And it is far easier to hit the apexes.... Please let me know if you understood ... I am willing to explain... sorry, but the video is not correct the way it explains the fov change... and lead me to hundreds of hours driving with a complicated adjusting to the "correct fov" which lead to a less correct and immersive driving experience... The FOV and immersion are dependend on three points on a straight line... Your Eyes, your hands, the monitor... You can then adjust the seat... TRY IT!!!
    NOW: Take a car and let it put a smile on your face on the Kemmel Straight when you hit the 300 kmh :-)
    Let's call it FEEL OF VIEW! Even with my T150 I can feel the weight distribution of the cars and these moments you are almost flying... That's a GAME CHANGER! Looking forward on your feedback.

    What difference is there between setting render frames to 1 or 2? It comes in 2 by default

    • @Case_

      2 might help you reduce some microstutter at the cost of possibly more input lag.

      No, mine is stable. And FOV shouldn’t really affect frame rate. You might want to try posting this to the Reiza forums, they can probably help you

    Have you considered triple screen and would you use the same fov as single screen

    • @SimRacing604
      @SimRacing604  4 роки тому +3

      ali09 Gaming Great question; in this case no. Triples in the Madness Engine world require a tripled FOV. So for example, my ideal FOV is about 60 degrees, and based on the same variables with triple screens I’d need to set my Triple Screen FOV at 180 degrees.

    • @ali09gaming58

      @@SimRacing604 so in n
      Ams2 u would multiply 3 to your fov to get triple. Would this apply to most sims triplescreen ?

    • @DeadBen.
      @DeadBen. 4 роки тому +2

      i use triples and you enter the FOV for just your main screen. 45 in my case...not 135. but the triple screen measurement entry is not fully functional in the menu yet as it locks the main screen distance to 90 (while i needed to enter 66 for my setup). but you can manually adjust that within the triple screen config file. and keep in mind you also have to update the distance to side screens in the config file also...it usually auto calcs that based on other data entered...but since manually changing config for distance to main screen...you have to also manually change distance to side screen. After I made my updates...it changed my FOV to something ridiculous like 157 or something (basically sitting in trunk)...but perfect after i corrected to the FOV for a single screen...which was correctly applied to each screen. note... I use Nvidia Surround in my setup.

    • @DeadBen.
      @DeadBen. 4 роки тому +1

      ali09 Gaming no problem. I expect it will get resolved before it comes out of early access. Luckily it’s almost exactly the same as it was implemented for PC2 ( just not 100% yet)...so you can compare those config files if you have set up triples already for PC2. I expect in the long run it will work exactly as easily as it does in PC2.

    Just reiterating that you adjusted world movement incorrectly. World movement 0 locks the camera to the horizon so only the car moves on screen. World movement 100 locks the camera to the car so only the world moves on screen. The latest update made the default 75

  • @Rysslassable
    @Rysslassable 4 роки тому

    No, it's not that important, If fov can do that for you that's great, if backseat driving does it for you that's ok too. You don't earn seconds by changing your screen settings, you do it by training.
