Il meglio del meglio dei musicisti italiani: PFM forever!
I saw PFM if my memory serves me correctly at the Baltimore Arena in the mid 70's at a battle of the bands concert. The other bands were primarily rock and roll bands many very prominent in the states, and the place was packed with people, but after these guys played there was no question who were the best musicians and who won the competition. PFM was absolutely phenomenal and that's saying the least!!!
Phenomenal musicians.
Massively underrated group. Way ahead of their time. I listened to these guys religiously back in the mid 70s. These guys were no slouches. They definetly did their homework. Thanks for posting.

Been to countless concerts since 1967...who do I regret not having seen more than anyone? PFM. Pagani, Premoli, Mussida, Djivas and Di Cioccio from their core years are 5 of the most shamelessly underappreciated musicians of any genre.

Absolutely one of the all time great Prog bands, easily up there with Yes etc, and I think in recent years people are starting to appreciate them in their own right - truly awesome!
This guitarist is amazing... I have seen him live... he is phenomenal! .... This is a masterpiece!
I want to “fix” the violinist. The articulation just isn’t there. I do not see mature 🎻technique or language like Jean Luc’s or Oistrakh or any historic great. I was 14 at this time…..& I’m not hearing eureka moments like in Stravinsky conducting Stravinsky in Japan

Saw them in 1972 at Ohio State University campus before Bad Company. Still the most progressive talented progressive rock band to date, unfortunately misunderstood in the USA. We left the concert shortly after Bad Company began to play. Great memories of how music should be today.

I saw a lot of bands of this genre live in the 70's but I missed these guys. What a great band.
Questo era l'Old Grey Whistle Test il tempio dei migliori musicisti al mondo!!NON sto a dire chi è passato di qua roba da brivido e non dimentichiamo che la PFM è stata proclamata tra i 10 migliori gruppi al mondo!!! Io sono 1/2 inglese e 1/2 italiano, quindi assolutamente non di parte!! lasciamo perdere i passerotti... Pianeta sbagliato
se mi posso permettere non è vero che sono pochi, gli italiani sono sempre stati all'avanguardia: i gruppi inglesi avevano produzioni migliori e diventavano più famosi, ma i musicisti migliori (non solo in ambito di musica leggera) siamo sempre stati noi!!!

@@francescofavro8888 Beh il bassista ha suonato in entrambi gruppi , diciamo che tecnicamente Area e PFM sono alla pari.Gli Area sicuramente facevano un tipo di musica piu complessa mentre la PFM in molti brani era piu digeribile al grande pubblico.

Actually not Patrick Djivas (who’s a great player, too), that’s the original bassist, Giorgio Piazza. He was unbelievable.
Giorgio Piazza left PFM in 1972 after recording their second album "Per Un Amico." Ian Patrick Djivas replaced him on bass guitar for "Old Rain," a track on 1973's "Photos of Ghosts" album (US re-release of "Per Un Amico" with English lyrics by Pete Sinfield) and played on the entirety of 'L'Isola di Niente" in 1974 (released with English lyrics as "The World Became the World" album) and on the "Cook" live album in 1975, referenced by "Whispering" Bob Harris at the end of this video. This is Ian on bass, as Giorgio had left three years earlier.

I saw this at the time. Hooked. Bought "Cook" as soon as I was able. Still have the vinyl and still one of my favourites.
Its easy to forget the quality of musicianship that was common place then.....and PFM show this so clearly.......they were, are quite fantastic, thanks for this Vid......we should get the BBC to release the recordings as DVD's........Even now PFM are so under rated.......and this was live.......with Uncle Bob Harris not having a clue of what to say when they've finished, except ' WoW'.

Stupendo l' album live fatto durante questa tournee nel quale "Alta loma....." é uno dei migliori pezzi.

Altaloma five till nine , oggi primo maggio 2015 al concerto a Capannori - Lucca dopo 40 anni ancora le stesse emozioni e la stessa energia : Fantastici!
io la PFM a Capannori la vidi nel 2007(o 2006) e fu bellissimo. nel 2015 non ricordo sinceramente se sono ritornati.. (forse arrivai in ritardo? )bohh)

Los conocí casi fortuitamente en 1979 cuando compré el vinilo "Per un Amico". Lo hice por la pintura de Di Chirico y las siglas PFM me recordaron algunas lecturas de revistas como la Pelo de Argentina, donde los elogió hasta Greg Lake como "Beatles italianos".
El segundo LP fue "Live in USA" que compré por dos mangos poco después.
Influyeron mucho en bandas prog de mi país, como La Maquina de Hacer Pájaros.
Absolutamente geniales.

Veramente insuperabili. Ebbi la fortuna di vedere qualche loro concerto negli anni settanta, erano proprio bravi. E' uscito da poco il loro nuovo album senza Mussida, Premoli e Pagani...Bello...ma le emozioni di quegli anni......
Massimo Fava quella di adesso è una Tribute Band della PFM.
Angelo Moretti. Commento piuttosto severo, che in parte condivido. I nuovi musicisti sono bravi, ma effettivamente questa non è più la nostra PFM.
Massimo Fava tutto prima o poi finisce. Rimangono comunque i loro primi 3 album meravigliosi che dopo più di 40 anni (!!!) continuo ad ascoltare.
Angelo Moretti. Lo stesso vale per me. Posso aggiungere che ultimamente ho imparato ad apprezzare "Chocolate Kings" un album che 40 anni fa ho un pò sottovalutato.

Mauro Pagani è un mostro. Sicuramente nella musica rock il più grande tra i violinisti. Negli Stati Uniti lo chiamavano Mauro Pagani(ni). Magari esagerando un poco... Saluti da Roma.
