It's so heartening that you were able to put your addictions behind you. I just lost my eldest grandson a week ago to a drug overdose. He was one day shy or his 27th birthday and was like a son to me. We are all so devastated by his loss - it still doesn't seem real.
Just popping into the comments to say that you are absolutely one of my favorite music vloggers out there. There are hundreds of channels, but so far I really only found three or four that are super on point and always worth watching.
OKI missed the premiere but I'm always here for Jimi sooner or later. I am ready to dance. Or at least headbanging. I'm surprised I still have a head from all of it I've done over my life😂😂😂
@@VereinPlatzhirschamHirschenpla Yes, it could be, but I think I once heard another song that had the line "hand me down my running shoes", so I'm not sure.
Of course, that was a cover, because it was done by Cream, obviously, first. As we all know, one of the half-dozen best guitarists ever, Eric Clapton, play this song entirely different than Jimi. And he played it great, only different. If you haven't reacted to the cream version, you should because then you get the added pleasure of the lyrics. And I loved that Jimi played it without lyrics, which made it easier to focus on the music itself. If you were.to play the cream version soon, it'll be a great comparison.
❤🎉❤thank you Jimi! Love some Cream and Jimi telling all!!! OMG thats awesome 😎!!!! 💕🎶💕 ❤Lee love your straight up "venting". Makes you so real to all of us out here! Good on you to follow your positive path in life for you and your family!! 💘
On September 18, 1970 I was in Miami, walking down the street with my boyfriend and a couple of other guys who were on their way from Puerto Rico to Bolivia in the Peace Corps. We were stopped in our tracks by a newspaper headline that said Jimi was gone. A few months earlier I'd been at his last concert in the continental US, at a small outdoor stadium (Sick's Stadium) in Seattle, his home town and mine. Yes, we had the best music, and we also had some of the most gut wrenching tragedies in music in it.
The entire Winterland set is worth getting hold of Lee. Even if it's only for your own listening pleasure and not a reaction, the box set will make your hair stand up and your jaw drop. It's 3 complete shows and another disc of highlights from the remaining shows.
I thought Lover Man was a Jimi original, but not sure. This must be an early version of it - it got a lot tighter and more developed later. Great version of it at at Berkely 1970 ('In the West' album straight after Johnny B. Goode - quite a one-two punch!). Funkier with more swing (Billy Cox on bass) and a crazy fun guitar solo which goes into and out of 'The Flight of the Bumblebee' - you can almost smell the guy's fear as he races to get away.
I drove over an hour to go to a record store years ago, I had flames on my car, painted, got followed by the cops as soon as I got in this town, went to the record store, bought this, Live In Winterland, then got followed by the cops again for a few miles out of town!! Must have been the flames painted on my car!! But, , fantastic album!!
Dude, YOU Lee,Man, are a very groovy dude, incredibly sincere and genuine, yeah you and Jimi would've gotten along great I feel and believe. Lover Man was Jimi's version of "Rock Me Baby" if you listen to it frm the Show at Monterey, YOU'll see its the same song with Jimi spin on it, which is amazing in and of itself. Jack Bruce after seening Jimi the night before, while trippin his ass off, wrote this song Sunshine of your Love,in a dedication to Jimi but Jimi never knew that it,in fact, was just for Him and yet he Jimi is doing a song for the Cream of which loved, yet it was about it. Sing on Brother, Play on drummer.
You missed the last track on Electric Ladyland - Voodoo Child (Slight Return). Some confusion over Voodoo Chile / Voodoo Child (Slight Return) understandably. Two totally different tracks. Voodoo Child (Slight Return) is shorter and punchier with peak Jimi guitar. One of his big statement pieces
He played a live version of Voodoo Child slight return from Winterland a month ago along with Manic Depression. Plus he’s played the SRV cover version.
Uli Jon Roth (Scorpions), his brother Jochen "Zeno" Roth RIP, Randy Hansen, Jack Bruce and Simon Philips did a cover of In From The Storm Live from a tribute concert called The Spirit Of Jimi Hendrix (1994). Check it out. Phenomenal guitars, bass and drumming.
this is nothing compared to- Stone Free (Live at the Fillmore East, NY - 1/1/70 - 2nd Set) this is absolutely epic you will need to come up for air several times while listening.- ua-cam.com/video/rzzqzJpiZeA/v-deo.html
I really never get tired of listening to this man play guitar.
Same here, he truly came from another planet! :) But also, Mitchell was a fabulous drummer and perfect for Jimi across several band line-ups. ❤
Everytime sounds like the first time. Truly one of a kind.
Jack Bruce of Cream was inspired to write Sunshine after seeing Jimi at a show.I bought this cd in 1987

❤❤so 😔 sorry for your loss! No words can express how sad this is for your family! 🙏
😢 So sorry to hear that.
I'm so sorry 😞
Burn it up, Jimi. Never enough Hendrix. These made my day, Lee. So damn good. Blessings all.
I was at the Friday show @ Winterland. Jimi was the greatest.
Holy smokes that's absolutely fabulous I love love it. Rock n roll
Wow .. what a jam
I Don‘t Live Today, live at San Diego, 1969
Isl of wight live, crash landing and midnight lightning are some great albums.

Shaking up the algorithm blues!
I listen to Jimi. Every. Single. Day.

I always enjoy your view, whether in the chat or in the comments, it's always nice to see somebody else who's not asleep at the wheel.
That was SO good. I never knew Hendrix covered this classic.
Lover Man was a song Jimi usually did live but isn't on a studio album. It is a customised version of an older blues song but I forget which.
I think it's more or less Rock Me Baby by BB King with other lyrics.
@@VereinPlatzhirschamHirschenpla Yes, it could be, but I think I once heard another song that had the line "hand me down my running shoes", so I'm not sure.
Killing floor
Outside Woman blues at the end.❤

Pali Gap next! It will blow your mind!😮
pali gap my favorite Jimi song, can't find the Jimi version on yt any more though , vimeo has it. sorry it is back on yt it was gone for a while
Algorithm tweak and more.
Mitch was perfect with Jimi, his jazz influenced drumming got me hooked back in 1967. Jimi, the master of the telecaster.
❤🎉❤thank you Jimi! Love some Cream and Jimi telling all!!! OMG thats awesome 😎!!!!

They also played Sunshine on the BBC
Hendrix has his own style ☀️
Hendrix makes my Thursday so much better, Lee. Thank you❤
Jimi up to his magic again.

Wow yes, that was heavy and SO free-form! What a fabulous, fat tone! Wonderful interplay within the band too, especially between Mitch and Jimi.
Please do Pali Gap! Please Please!
Yes! I just said the same thing!
It's so good
Top of the Top

It always seemed to me like lover man was an evolution of killing floor.
@@claytonpaul4259 Yeah, I see what you mean on that
Jimi 💥
Atlanta Pop Festival
At around the 10 min. mark he started playing Clapton's riff from the Disraeli Gears version of "Outside Woman Blues".

@@brianwacker9111 Cool, I heard them. Still a pity to miss the definitive version 😏and complete the album.
Jimi was friends and a big fan of Clapton and Bruce.

Just checked My Library and noticed that you already did the cream version about 7 or 8 months ago. Oops.
Pete Brown wrote a lot of Cream"s lyrics.
❤❤ 👍
NOEL solo!!
I think Jimi incorporated that song “Outside Woman Blues” into his version of “Sunshine of your love” ?
Clapton would be... and was... intimidated by Jimi. 😄
Come on man Philip Sayce
