You just showed me how to do what the install instructions couldn't. Much appreciate the video. Much to my wife's disliking, I just did a late night destruction of a 10x10 4' high area of 1" diameter brush in roughly 3 minutes thanks to you!
Thanks! This greatly simplified my search for how to mount a brush blade on my Ryobi gas trimmer. I didn't know what adapter I might need to secure the blade after removing the trimmer head. Really appreciate you adding a link to the kit you used. Again, thanks!
THANK YOU for posting this great instruction video!!! Your directions are simple - easy to follow - and just what I needed to convert my Ryobi 40v trimmer to a brush cutter! Had bought a Gashwer kit, but taking off the head and installing the blades was intimidating for this old lady! I was about to give up and then thought I'd check UA-cam and there you were with your kind helpful offering to the yard work world! Now I can install the blades and proceed with the job of trimming the overhanging vines, bushes and brush at the edge of the woods bordering my house.
PS - Had to saw off a protruding tip inside the plastic blade guard to make the saw blade lie flat. Glad I had a mini hand saw. Glad I had the right size washer - No trips to Lowes or HD!
Thank you! You saved me a ton of money. I am cutting down brush and saplings and a ton of massive over growth. I already had the Ryobi brush cutter attachment but it wasn't quite doing the job. This blade will cut through more.
Thanks for the vid man. I had to remove the shield on the wacker because the blade would not go on there without it removed. There is a part that sticks out to far. So I am just going to have to be really careful and wear good eye protection until I can cut some of that away to make it fit.
MY RYOBI HAS A LARGE PRESSURE PLATE NOT A 20 MM HOW DO YOU CHANGE THAT AS WELL?? IN THE BEGINNING I NOTICED YOURS DID NOT FIT EITHER BUT THEN YOU SKIPPED A CLIP AND THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN IT FIT JUST PERFECT. NEED MORE DETAIL DID YOU FLIP THE THRUSTER PLATE OR GET ONE THAT FIT THE RYOBI.
Wow what an amazing video. I have two ryobi weed eater I want to change one to a brush or small tree cutter with your instructions. Just to be sure the nut that came with the kid didn’t work with the trimmer?
Do you happen to know the size of the hex nut that you removed from the trimmer attachment? Or maybe where I can get a replacement? The one I had actually flew off :(
The only solution I found to obtain the correct nut was purchasing an entirely new trim head from Ryobi. I encountered a similar issue before where I couldn't locate the appropriate size nut despite testing various ones at Home Depot. As a result, I decided to acquire a new head and then used the nut from that unit.
My strimmer has smaller bolt on it to screw on those parts, only takes 10 millimetre hole blades, but want to fit 20 millimetre hole blade, is there an adapter bolt I can put in or a flange ?
I cut the plastic back on the guard but mine will speed up then slow down with a fully charged battery once I start to cut something. Anyone deal with this?
The only thing from adapter kit that is useful but hardly necessary is the cup. It serves as a spacer to give the brush blade some vertical clearance, in addition for the holding nut to clamp down on the blade. If you can find a heavy duty metal washer that is large enough to go over the arbor and the inner diameter of the blade, you are in business without resorting to the kit.
Are there any retail stores that stock these blades on the shelf are they only available online? Also, did the adaptor come with it or was it purchased separately? Thanks!
Hi, I need to try this. I just bought the weed wacker, but my weeds are like thick and 4ft tall. It is going slow and it stalls. I got the 40v expand it, that makes a beeping noise when you hit the trigger. I hope the size fits. Anyway, I just need to buy the blade and give it a try. Thanks. maybe it will cut the high growth on the hedge too.
Dang, I was really hoping this video would show me but my 40v whisper quiet trimmer head does not look like that at all, mine is missing that hole where you out the screwdriver… 😢
I have the Ryobi expand it trimmer like yours. I put the screwdriver in the slot, but it will NOT turn. I cant get the trimmer head off. What am I doing wrong?
@@VeraProjects i got the Forester blade and the other kit from Amazon like you recommended. Im still trying to get the head off. It won't budge. I hope I'm turning it the correct way. Clockwise. To the right.
@@1daltizer I made the video in Jan 2022 to remove the head you do it by turning it clockwise, but if you got a newer model it could be they changed it to CounterClockwise. I would say to try .
You should have explained that sometimes you MAY have to trim down obstacles that keep the blade from paying down in place, such as plastic safety extensions, like you had to. Dremel's come in handy for this.............................2:50............ Didn't think I caught that, did you?😂

You're welcome! Glad it helped.
Good job on this video - I learned a lot of useful info on how to retrofit my line trimmer to be a more effective brush cutter!
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you and great tips. Follow your video step by step and easy installation. Wish I would have done this years back to kill brush.
Does this work the same for the new trimmer head setup?
Thank you! You saved me a ton of money. I am cutting down brush and saplings and a ton of massive over growth. I already had the Ryobi brush cutter attachment but it wasn't quite doing the job. This blade will cut through more.
These blades cut through small tress as well. Im glad I was able to help.
You couldn't use the saw blade in place of the brush cutter attachment?

Yeah I forgot to mention that in the video
Did you end up cutting that part?
@@gunsdoyoga No. I didn't. It is so dry here in Kula that even the weeds are not growing. The Island of Maui is becoming a Desert.
I wonder if the new wire ones can be used also

The Black Pressure Plate I ended up not using it at all. I just used the washers and the nuts to hold it down.
What was that piece that you used to keep the blade on?
You can get the part on Amazon - amzn.to/3ljZ0YC
Do you happen to know if i can do this on the corded model...?...Thank you...
Yes you can!
Wow what an amazing video. I have two ryobi weed eater I want to change one to a brush or small tree cutter with your instructions. Just to be sure the nut that came with the kid didn’t work with the trimmer?
Correct you need to use the original nut that is already on the Ryobi trimmer. The nut comes with the package from amazon will not fit

Looks like it cuts brush pretty good. Thanks

I would not know
Hi will this work on the ryobi expand it all model RY252CS
It might you can buy the part from Amazon and always return it if it does not work.
I cut the plastic back on the guard but mine will speed up then slow down with a fully charged battery once I start to cut something. Anyone deal with this?
Do you thing i can use this for grinding away cracking paint from concrete?
That will diff damage the blade 🙂
buy an angle grinder and you can use various brushes depending on how aggressively you want it to remove the paint
@@RagedContinuum I see what your say that would be a cool 💡
You can now buy wire cups for the trimmer
Thank you, and I have a question. Do I have to buy an adapter kit for it to work. It looks like I do. Thanks.
Yes you do

Or just take the arbor off your table saw

You buy them online
what type and size screw driver are you using to remove the head? Thank you
Any flat head screws driver would work

The blade will cut through 4 to 5 inches of bark no problem. My neighbors ask to use it all time.

the adapter linked in this video is no longer available and people say similar ones do not work. Anybody find one that works proper?
Do you think this would work well trying to clear out English ivy?
I have not tried to clear English ivy with it. I would say that it will cut it but it might tangle around rotary area.

It's should come off it might be really tight mine was extremely tight the first time I did it.

No not at all.
Omg. Thank you so much. Subscribing.

Thank you for this video!
Massing around with a blade like that , and you tighten it with a pliers ????????????
It does tighten itself aswell during spins so what's the problem?
Never had a blade come off :)
use a socket at least
😂😂
Is this the expand it series ?
No but it works with the expand it has powered. That's what mine is

Hello, where do I buy the kit to hack it?
Take a look in the description of the video I listed all the links
Thank you for your video and for the prompt answer!!!
how much is Ryob 53cc
I've seen it as low at $100 look online you will see some good deals on it.
thanks very much
can do that with 18 v ryobi
Never tried it with an 18v. Let me know if you try and it and if it works.
@@VeraProjects i never tried with 18 volt
Just use a socket wrench.
You forgot to put the thrust washer on.
Which was the thrust washer. I didn't completely see what he was putting on. I want to try this and want to be sure it remains attached.
@@lorettacarroll6015 the black one
Forester recommends not using cordless trimmers because of power needed to turn heavy chain blade.
Its not true I have been using this for years and it works great.
Is this the expand it series of ryobi?
Use a socket wrench
Soo.... You had to cut off some plastic, but didnt show or tell us that....
Nice video though
Lol yeah I try to keep it interesting
What plastic ?
Save some money is good, but this project looks like a bit overdo.
