Kudos to Forrest for saving first, spending later and reinvesting. That's why he can afford a comfortable life here in Thailand. And spot on about traveling to other countries and feeling so appreciative of Thailand after coming back.
@@Vonsat Absolutely. It’s easy to find issues with Thailand when you’re looking for them. But no place is perfect. It’s important to get some perspective.
Ive spent 7 months this year here in Thailand. $3,000 per month is very comfortable to retire on, even with the right lady living with me. Im 43 years old and about to go back home to Florida. In a year or 2 I'll sell my paid off condo and add that to my dividend portfolio and return here permanently. I'll be a student of something for a few years or live part-time in Thailand and a neighboring country. The cost and culture in the U.S. isnt worth it.
I've spent more than 2 years doing research about where to relocate with my family, and giving that no place is perfect, I find Thailand the best imperfect place to relocate.
Thai culture will teach RESPECT to your children. How to respect your parents, teachers, and older people. In the United States, respect is a foreign concept. Schoolchildren in the US talk back to their parents and beat up their teachers. You are much better off raising your family in Thailand. There are no street gangs and your family will be safe.
I'm glad to hear that you decided on Thailand. I'm raising my kids here (in the suburbs of BKK) and I have no complaints. I've also been pleasantly surprised by the education they are receiving at their bilingual school.
@kevinp8108 Thanks for the comment. Yes, unfortunately, children these days have a huge sense of entitlement, so disrespectful. Looking forward to living in a society that resembles a bit more the good old days.
Enjoyed the interview. Good insightful questions. I have been following Forest online and have noticed he always talks about the importance of money and investing but doesn't really explain what he does for a living. Is it investing, coaching and consulting or is he an influencer. Maybe he's like a lot of Thais who have multiple income streams. I wouldn't mention it but money is a topic he frequently addresses.
I've been following Forrest ever since he started vlogging in Thailand. In his past videos, he has mentioned that he made a significant amount of money with cryptocurrency. I'm going to guess he invested early in Bitcoin.
Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed the interview. I did ask Forrest about investing during our chat, but it was an extremely long interview and I had to cut out some parts. Forrest mentioned that he saved and invested from a young age. His income comes primarily from his US investments in broad market ETFs, REITs, and more recently some options trading. He also mentioned Fundrise and FarmFundr as ways to get access to real estate and farmland, but I'm not sure if he's personally investing through these platforms.
I remember his cost of living video a while back around that $2500 mark.. now living comfortable is $4000 a month. I would agree 4000 is a great life in Thailand, but it's not really that cheap anymore..
Yeah, I agree that it's not as cheap as it once was. I've been here for 12 years and I've definitely experienced the prices increasing. But I think you can still live a pretty good life with $2,500/mo. It really just depends on what you're looking for. You live here full-time now?
If you're not going to clubs frequently and drinking heavily, $2000 to $2500 USD is enough for a good life. The more you live like a Westerner, the more expensive it is. Middle-class Thais are living on much less!
No magic of editing like in his own videos. No cuts to cover up his speech impediment either. He’s done well for himself, but it makes you of how people really present themselves in videos and in real life.
"Dating" LOL Let's get real, desperate old guys go to Thailand to get laid. Everything is transactional here. The more $$$ you have the more "love" you'll find.
u do know that about only 1 % of all thai women work in the "pleasure business" achully lower numbers per capita than the usa and europe..and i read in forums that "pay for play" is cheaper in the usa than in thailand too nowadays. Update ur prejudices please
Great! 👍🏻😅 If US open door, declares a visa free policy for Thailand, then you’re the only one to stay in Bangkok 😂 I think this is a “Click bait”! Right ? 🤣

Thanks, I was looking at NIST International School, they offer the IB program!

Forrest- get a different barber, dude. Great conversation. ( Every time I return to the States I am happy to choose Thailand as my retirement home.)

Thank for the comment, Neo. Did you get a chance to watch the interview or are you responding to the title alone?
Neo, relax. He is speaking for himself not for everyone in Thailand.
