You pretty much nailed it. Most of the people I play against are stuck in the 3.0-3.5 range because they WILL NOT learn the 3rd shot drop.

    Good video.
Nice to see you allow for "drives" as options.
I like to refer to 3rd.shot drop as simply "drop shot" as it can occur at any point in the game, 3rd or 33rd shot..
I also teach it as a "long dink". It helps people understand what their doing..

Great video. It really helped me get into the habit of serving with the 3rd shot in mind, so I’m already 2 steps ahead of my opponent. If we’re down in the score, I know to serve safe and drop the third to their laces. If I’m the first server and up in score, I can afford to mess around with higher risk serves while still anticipating my 3rd shot.

Great video. As a relatively new player, it's great to hear someone with more experience that has a lot of the same philosophies as I have. Also, that drop drive is one of my favorites. Any time I see someone lagging getting to the net, I feel like I've got the point won.

I would like to see how to return balls that are hit at your feet, and how to improve back hand shots. You probably already have videos about these topics and I just haven't found them yet as I am fairly new to your channel. I recently tore my calf muscle so I have some time to go through your videos and catch up. You have the best instructional videos that I have come across and I'm saving up for your wall target so I don't have to use tape. Thank you for your awesome content.

I've been a subscriber for a couple of months now. I think this video is your best yet. Decision making on 3rd shots is something I've been think about / working on more since my last event. This video felt more organized and full of solid advice, I didn't miss the "goofy" video cut-aways.
Keep up the good work, your channel is evolving in a great direction.

An underused third shot at the 3.0-40 level is the lob. Especially if you are playing outside in the wind and sun, and especially if you are playing against a senior,a short person, or a person who is not real athletic. Lobbing into the wind is especially effective. Hit the lob like a drop, but just aim a lot higher, and put more weight into the ball. It should peak at least halfway between the net and the opponent's baseline..or deeper, especially if you hit into the wind. Don't be afraid to hit it high. If you hit it deep, you should be able to at least get the next ball back, but too many players don't know how to handle the overhead. First, stay back, behind the baseline, and look to block the ball back with some back spin at the feet of the opponent who hit the overhead. If the opponents let your ball bounce, rush in and take over the net. If they get it back, look to block it at their feet, giving yourself plenty of net clearance, and follow the ball to the net. So you have four options: Drop, drive, drop-drive and lob. If you mix it up, it will drive them crazy. I like to hit the lob on really good deep returns down the center, which are the toughest to drop.

My nemesis; I hate you 3rd shot drop. Good video; I liked the clips you threw in there to provide examples of each strategy you discussed. I'm still new and find that at the lower levels hitting a third shot drive results in a much higher percentage remain in play vs trying a drop (finds the net or stays up too much). But I know you're right; can't rely on the drive exclusively as I climb; gotta practice. Oh, btw; not a big deal but at the 6:50 mark you're missing the "o" for purpose if you want to edit.

If the opponents hit a short return, especially a mis-hit, move in very quickly and take the ball right off the bounce, I mean just an inch or two or three off the bounce, and shovel it back to the returner's feet before he can get to the kitchen line. This is very effective. It gives the offense the control of the net
