- Yzerfontein, or Ysterfontein, is a small harbour town with about 1200 inhabitants on the west coast of South Africa about 90 km north of Cape Town. The name in Afrikaans means "Iron Fountain".The town started out when the farm 'Yzerfontein' was bought by the Katz-family in the 1930s.
Yzerfontein is known for its Sixteen Mile Beach, stretching north from the main beach of the town, to the West Coast National Park, which borders the town. Dassen Island, another nature reserve, is about 10 km offshore.

My childhood memories made in the fishermen's cottages.

Do you have to be rich to live here?
What do you see as rich?
@@AfricanTravelCrew Let me rephrase. How much does it cost to buy a home over here?
@azharcassim2795 if we look on property24 a plot of land is about 500k and a house from about
2 million up to 28 million.
@@AfricanTravelCrew Thank you. That's very helpful. Now to answer your first question. That gives me an idea how much it will cost to buy peace for my soul. The city o course doesn't give us this. I consider a rich life as being one that allows us to live more naturally, to have time to do things we really want to do and live in an environment that you want to. Unfortunately the reality implies a financial aspect. So money is purely a means to an end in my case.
@@azharcassim2795 good point. 👍
100 000 JAAR terug? Jy dink? of weet?
Wat vrae jy?
Curious not one interview with a black member of the community…
I think you either need to visit Yzerfontein or chat to the Tourism Office on this.
Nice! LOL there no blacks staying there only Kleurlinge!
