    Neat seeing stuff like this. Personally, for hiking/caping, I dont always want to set up a fire, get the camping gear going. Nor do I always want coffee shaken in a bottle of water. This would add normalcy without taking up a lot of room. A little bougie in the backwoods😆. Love it for those who are on the road. If I were in an office setting, I'd have this tucked away at my desk. This stands out over some in that it can take the nespresso capsules. For those that dont know, any regular espresso machine including the nespresso capsules makers are all quite pricy. This little unit (with discounts) is very appealing even as a kitchen gadget. Downside being charge time. But yeh, fun to consider the possibilities. Not everything is for everyone, but for those that could use it, it is nice to see it in action. THANKS!😁

    Never cared for coffee and I don't do caffeine but this is a fun gadget. I like that it takes those nespresso pods that's a clever bit of kit on their part. Looking on their site I was happy to see they sell cups and parts separately. Always nice to see company do that. Now if they make a cup of soup machine like that in the future I'd be in.

      The price sorts itself out if you consider a coffee drink at Starbucks is up to $8 a pop now. But it’s a luxury item for sure.

    Thats a pretty neat tool... as you said not for everyone but definitely for some.
    For me I don't think I would use it on extended hikes /camping but if only a 1 or 2 over nite sure, it is something I would use on my automobile travels.

    I'm not really a coffee drinker but it seems like a good way to heat water up. My parents used to have a teardrop camper for a few years but outgrew it. They drove one all the way from Wisconsin to Seattle once but got sick of setting up an extra tent when I was raining and didn't want to sleep.

    • @dadbudgetadventures
      @dadbudgetadventures  5 місяців тому

      I like mine because most of my camping is solo. I can see where some might not like the cramped conditions though.

      @@dadbudgetadventures they are old and need their room. So the doors on theirs the insulation got water in it and we ended up taking the doors apart and doing a better job than they did when building it.
      Right now they have an A-Frame camper that is about a thousand pounds less than the towing capacity of the mini-van
      They also use it for when company stays over so they don't have to sleep in the house. My brother and I both snore.

      I had a teardrop. Did 8500 miles around the west and back to PA in June 2019. It had a Oztent Foxwing awning so no extra tent needed. Took about 5 minutes to put it out and a few extra minutes to put in the guy line stakes. Was almost 270 deg around the camper.

      Thanks, I’ll take it! You are correct, it’s kind of a luxury item for lots of folks these days. But if you add up the cost of an espresso drink from Starbucks it only takes a few trips to the drive-thru to even it out.

  • @MinuteMan1999

    Has a niech it would fit into. For my purposes though it would also have to be able to boil up to 16 oz of water for rehydrating freeze dried foods and soup. I do like my espresso though! ✌️

    I like the look of that. The battery life is a shame however who doesn't own a thermal water bottle? You could easily carry boiling water for the extra uses. If I were driving, this would be something I'd go for however if I'm camping or hiking, I could take the filter I have from my old percolator and use that and make filtered coffee. I've a huge pack that easily carries my billy pot and other gear so the extra to make filtered coffee isn't such a problem.
    I like these gear reviews. Kinda gives me a shopping list for items if so inclined.
    Quick query, the Barocook, aside from the colossal size, is there anything different in the heating elements for them as opposed to normal FRH's?

    • @Gumby1978

    • @dadbudgetadventures
      @dadbudgetadventures  5 місяців тому

      I agree completely. As far as the Barocook it uses quicklime for the fuel where FRHs use magnesium and iron. The Barocook puts off non toxic fumes where the FRH fumes aren’t so safe.

    • @TheRealAnarchrox
      @TheRealAnarchrox 5 місяців тому

      @@dadbudgetadventures I suppose out in the open if you had other FRH elements, perhaps multiple, you could use them in a pinch. Now that would be a good little money maker, a flameless water heater. Makita made a coffee machine that runs off their batteries but consumes almost the entire charge for one coffee so this item is a lot more energy efficient than that. As it turns out, heating takes an awful lot of energy.

    • @dadbudgetadventures

    Looks like a good option for glampers and overlanders but for hikers it is simply extra weight. I'm already carrying a canister stove and fuel to heat water for my meals. So to carry an all in one niche appliance *that does only one thing* doesn't make a lot of sense for me. The pictures on their website of people who appear to be way out in the wild, with nothing but a backpack, are hilarious. But whatever the case, good review. You hit all the pros and cons nicely.
