The printing press wasn't invented until around 1440, which means mass book production only started after that. Before that books were copied and illustrated by hand, not to mention that majority of the population was illiterate back then.
For people asking if this show is good/worth the watch, yes, yes it is. It brings history alive in a realistic way that I've rarely seen, i couldn't really compare it to other shows because its not like other shows. It's a good depiciton of history (albeit with a little voodoo) , doesnt have gratuitous sex or violence scenes, and is engaging
This was not mean. This was sassy. ‘We have plenty of time to bore eachother’ - an invitation to do lots of things together. I think they are going to be great friends. Ps I have not watched the show. I love the sassy. X from the netherlands
Every single person’s face in this show has got such an uncanny valley feel to me, I can’t explain it. They all look like hallucinations to me. Everything is too round, too big, too blue, too red.
Idk this show but book reading in Victorian times struck me as hardly single person time - there was no TV or Internet after all, books were the shows of that time, theatre's the movies of that time. Of course there would be clubs around the most favorite books, clubs were the chat groups of that time.
The first season of Serpent Queen was very good, especially the portrayals of Catherine de Medici and King Francis. This must be the second which I haven't seen with new characters.
"You waiting for someone?"?... Really 😂😂 me, many times I got "why are you reading? ", " it's funny" or "what is enjoyment here, there is nothing". I really feel the books, crying or laugh so much, so people was... Surprised of how can I enjoy something doesn't have image or sound. Literally, some people like my friends asked me why I like reading or just have books in my arms or manga😂 unfortunately I don't have the time and free mind like before for reading and enjoying my imagination but I still have the passion ❤ And I hope, no one will lost it, it's a beautiful gift we can have, cus at least, we are not dependent of someone but ourself ❤ Read if you want, it's you pleasure ❤

The brunette lady is perfect for period dramas, she looks like she doesn’t know the existence of iPhones in a nice way
Hahahhahahahha😂😂😂
They actually look like people from those times. Amazing
Helaena is that You?
Haha i thought the same thing
Hahaha yeah I was like “omg it’s Helaena”.
Yes

Its actually Octavia from Rome. The actress DOES look and sound very similar to Heleana but its not her
It's the chain link fence from the two thousands in the background for me
I think the heavy base makeup and eye and lip color scheme right out of the 80s really adds to it
Can't stop focusing on it now... now the whole set looks so cheap 😂
Lol
I find his lack of codpiece nearly as disturbing as his 1980s hair.

I learned somewhere that reading wasn’t a private hobby until the 18th century. Until then, people mostly used to read aloud gathering in assemblies
What is your source of that information?
It may have been a book of prayers - probably in Latin.

Don’t know what this is but the costumes are refreshing. I don’t know when the last time was I saw knitting on a show.
I love the gown of the one standing beside the brother ❤ don't know who she's supposed to be, haven't watched the show 😂
