  • I got the chance to do an up close full walk around of a Dodge Charger Pursuit with the New York State Police! Video taken at JFK Airport in Jamaica, Queens. The high risers and lights close up is something very few others have documented! This one has the 5.7L and AWD! Let me know if there is anything you guys want to see on the channel!

    Interesting I can see the safety and benefit of them.....you can also pass the time at the accident scene waiting for the wreckers to show up with flag football.

    I've always loved these latest-gen Chargers for the Trooper cruisers. I was always a fan of the Crown Vics as a kid but those were more tame-looking sedans. These Chargers however are very stocky and sleek and they look beautiful with the navy blue/gold for the New York State Police. Love watching these things cruise around. Perhaps I'll be driving one someday... got the NYSP exam coming up next month!

      As someone who is also preparing for the exam, how hard was iit?

    • @NYGiantsDiEhArD
      @NYGiantsDiEhArD 10 місяців тому

      @@tevlargaming5440 The written exam wasn’t hard intellectually, and there’s virtually no knowledge requirements, but it was just a bunch of mundane mental agility drills, if you will. The first part tested your ability to abstract, summarize and deduce from passages and at the end was a series of map exercises where they tell you an intersection (which you have to search for), give you directions from there such as north on Catherine St., east on Bell Rd., south on Franklin St. and stop at the first intersection. Then instead of just asking you what intersection you’re at (which a monkey could do), they ask which of the following choices are CLOSEST to that - so then of course you have to comb through the map for each choice and compare how far they are away. Really not intellectually challenging, but just long and tedious. I guess they’re trying to test your patience or your map skills to make sure you can be relied on for emergencies. Idk 🤷🏽‍♂️
      The second form on the test is a series of self-reflection personality questions. This was also pretty weird, as they ask you loaded questions, but tell you to be perfectly honest and comfortable when answering. So they’ll provide a statement like, “People need to listen to me more,” and you have to select strongly agree, agree, disagree or strongly disagree (no neutral option). Well, it’s a loaded question; know what I mean? But you’re supposed to answer TOTALLY HONESTLY, so it feels like a false dilemma they give you. Do I answer honestly and say “Agree” in the sense of “I have a lot to offer people” or “I’m super knowledgeable about some things,” not “I’m a genius among idiots”? What if it’s just testing for narcissism, but your answer was in a different sense? I didn’t like that part of the exam because it asks you to be honest but the questions themselves felt dishonest and manipulative. So I just tried to give my best answers.
      Overall not hard, just requires focus.

    So weird to have blue lights in the rear, but not in the front. NY has some odd lighting laws; that is for sure. I know that about twenty years ago, Westchester County had red AND blue lights visible to the front of the car - but I think they got rid of them.

    • @carsofqueens

      @@carsofqueens -- They get it wrong a lot on TV shows too. Funny to see marked "TV" cars in NYC with red/blue lights in the front. Bad technical advice? Probably.
      I lived in Upstate NY when I was a kid - back in the 1970s - and blue lights were only for volunteer firemen back then. Cops always used red. Same for Pennsylvania. ( Virginia was the opposite. Volunteer firemen use red, but blue lights are for law enforcement only. )

    What is the purpose of the High Riser?

    • @JohnWilliams-wg9pk
      @JohnWilliams-wg9pk 3 роки тому +5

      They're designed to ensure the patrol vehicle's emergency lights are visible to approaching traffic over obstacles common in an urban environment, such as a tall concrete median or traffic. Without the high risers, it is likely approaching traffic would not be able to see the patrol vehicle's lights over the median wall on a turn.
