@@Knightmessenger You're talking about the Polinsky songs? There are many ways of finding them. I know 4, 5, 6, and 8 are exclusive ESPN tracks, so those aren't identified. I know International Statement , Neck and Neck, and Roadhog are in YT as the official song. Gladiator, Eric D., and Arnold are Colby's. Those are songs 3, 7, and 9, so those you need someone to send it, or contact Colby himself. Most of these are Firstcom music, and many of these can be found on Universal Music Production, even many which aren't the 18 songs, like Liberation Day or Race to the Death, which I have them. Considering that after I inquired to Colby about this and terminator back in October and terminator appeared on his site but never this, I think we will probably not ever get it. I can’t believe this is the one that got away, it’s always going to be the most unsatisfying thing in my life. Literally the only way we’ll ever hear a clean version of this song is if some rogue employee leaks it or espn releases it as a part of some anniversary music album. However, there’s such an astronomically low chance of those happening that I think it’s safe to say that this one will never be heard. It will always be the missing piece of my Primetime collection, and the holy grail of all Primetime music.

Hot take: Both teams desperately trying to score points until the clock hits zero, regardless of the score of the game, is how football should be played all the time.
Two teams were fighting for a playoff spot, while the other 2 were playing spoiler. That's why they were jacking up the score. At the end of the day, it didn't matter since the Cowboys won.
Funniest thing about this, 3 weeks prior, the Panthers scored a touchdown as time expired against the Packers to go up 33-31. Panthers kneeled on the untimed PAT instead of kicking the extra point or trying for 2. That would have lowered the gap to +6 or +4 Green Bay entering this instead of +8 Green Bay.
This is like the World Cup group stage where two teams are tied on points and have to fight for superior goal difference as the two games are played at the same time, only even crazier since American football has so much more scoring.

In this case it was points scored minus points allowed against conference opponents. In those days when there were just 3 divisions per conference, in conference tiebreakers that tiebreaker metric was the 4th tiebreaker step behind head-to-head, conference record and record against common opponents. As it turns out Dallas defeated the Giants later that day to clinch the last NFC playoff spot available and make all of the Packers and Panthers efforts for naught. Heading into the Giants-Cowboys game, the Packers had +25 net points in conference games and the Panthers were at +14. The Giants were at -56 thus would have had to beat the Cowboys by at least 81 points to catch Green Bay in net conference points. If they by some freak circumstance beat Dallas by 82 or more points, then they would have won that tiebreaker. If they won by exactly 81 points then Carolina would have dropped out of the 3-way tie with the Giants and Green Bay. Then the Giants and Packers would have reverted back to Step 1 of a two-way conference tiebreaker which would have not been resolved until the 5th step - net points against all opponents - which the Giants would have won (to figure that, NY was +5 in net points against AFC teams, while the Packers were -9). Even weirder would have been if the Giants and Cowboys tied. In that scenario Carolina would have claimed the last playoff spot because of their victory over GB at Lambeau 3 weeks earlier (on the game's final play no less). Another odd part of that day was that Dallas's win not only put them in the playoffs, knocking out Green Bay and Carolina, but the Cowboys win plus the Detroit loss earlier in the day meant the Cowboys leapfrogged the Lions to the #5 seed while the Lions ended up as the #6 seed.
One correction. The Packers ended up +25 in net points in conference games. Heading into the final weekend they were dead even - at zero. Carolina ended up at +14 after their win over the Saints. Heading into that game they were at -14. The Giants were at -56 leading into Week 17. Another ironic aftermath of that is that league officials decided they didn't want that scenario playing out again so prior to the Texans being added and the league realigning they also restructured the tiebreaker rules. Thus starting in the 2002 season strength of victory was added as a tiebreaker- the 5th step in ties between teams in the same division and the 4th step in conference tiebreakers. Strength of schedule was moved up to the 6th step to break division ties and the 5th step for conference ties. Then if those didn't resolve the deadlock, they revived a step from the 70s - best combined conference ranking in total points scored and total points allowed followed by best league ranking in total points scored and total points allowed. The net points tiebreakers were shoved way down toward the bottom of the pecking order. For division ties it's now net points against common opponents followed by net points against all opponents, while for conference ties it's net points against conference opponents followed by net points against all opponents. Then for both divisional and conference tiebreakers the last two steps are net touchdowns against all opponents and coin flip. Since 2002 the league has never had to employ any tiebreaker that needed to go past the 4th step for either divisional (conference record) or conference (strength of victory) tiebreakers.
So, I emailed Colby again, 6 months later. No response as of yet, but I have a feeling this will be the definitive answer of whether we’ll ever get this officially or not. ESPN will almost definitely never release it, and if Colby doesn’t post it then I just don’t see it surfacing ever. However, fingers crossed. I’ll edit this comment when (or rather, if) Colby responds.

Giants going into that game were hoping that both Carolina and Green Bay would've lost for them to even be alive going into their match against Dallas. However as we saw on those highlights, Giants were eliminated before kickoff because of the results of the games. Which was a moot point anyway because the Cowboys won and they got in.

That way it would only have to remove the sounds (aka the talking) that is different in each one but keep the sound that is consistent in all (aka the music). 4:22 How come we never get scenarios like this again in the last week of the season? No one really emphasizes on the point differential for tiebreakers these days. It’s mostly either the head to head or conference records. In the end the Packers didn’t make the playoffs out of all this wild scenario stuff they did to beat Panthers and the points they still didn’t end up getting in.
Point differential moved down on the list of tiebreakers in 2002 when the NFL realigned and created a new list of tiebreakers, including the new "strength of victory" tiebreaker. I think it's only gotten as far as strength of victory once since then.

A Giants win over the Cowboys would've created a 3-way tie between NYG, CAR, and GB that would've come down to scoring margin (the Giants' scoring margin was way worse than the other two). Carolina's win over Green Bay would've been the deciding factor if the DAL/NYG game had ended in a tie.

@@Knightmessenger You're talking about the Polinsky songs? There are many ways of finding them. I know 4, 5, 6, and 8 are exclusive ESPN tracks, so those aren't identified. I know International Statement , Neck and Neck, and Roadhog are in YT as the official song. Gladiator, Eric D., and Arnold are Colby's. Those are songs 3, 7, and 9, so those you need someone to send it, or contact Colby himself. Most of these are Firstcom music, and many of these can be found on Universal Music Production, even many which aren't the 18 songs, like Liberation Day or Race to the Death, which I have them. To download them you need to download Download VideoHelper on computer and download it. The channel has a blogpost where the links to the songs are. Hope this helps!

Considering that after I inquired to Colby about this and terminator back in October and terminator appeared on his site but never this, I think we will probably not ever get it. I can’t believe this is the one that got away, it’s always going to be the most unsatisfying thing in my life. Literally the only way we’ll ever hear a clean version of this song is if some rogue employee leaks it or espn releases it as a part of some anniversary music album. However, there’s such an astronomically low chance of those happening that I think it’s safe to say that this one will never be heard. It will always be the missing piece of my Primetime collection, and the holy grail of all Primetime music.

Two teams were fighting for a playoff spot, while the other 2 were playing spoiler. That's why they were jacking up the score. At the end of the day, it didn't matter since the Cowboys won.
Funniest thing about this, 3 weeks prior, the Panthers scored a touchdown as time expired against the Packers to go up 33-31. Panthers kneeled on the untimed PAT instead of kicking the extra point or trying for 2. That would have lowered the gap to +6 or +4 Green Bay entering this instead of +8 Green Bay.
Weird that they would kneel since the defense wasn't allowed to score on PATs back then.

I think it's something to do with points scored vs points allowed
Point differential is basically the amount of points your team scores minus the amount of points your team concedes
In this case it was points scored minus points allowed against conference opponents. In those days when there were just 3 divisions per conference, in conference tiebreakers that tiebreaker metric was the 4th tiebreaker step behind head-to-head, conference record and record against common opponents.
As it turns out Dallas defeated the Giants later that day to clinch the last NFC playoff spot available and make all of the Packers and Panthers efforts for naught. Heading into the Giants-Cowboys game, the Packers had +25 net points in conference games and the Panthers were at +14. The Giants were at -56 thus would have had to beat the Cowboys by at least 81 points to catch Green Bay in net conference points. If they by some freak circumstance beat Dallas by 82 or more points, then they would have won that tiebreaker. If they won by exactly 81 points then Carolina would have dropped out of the 3-way tie with the Giants and Green Bay. Then the Giants and Packers would have reverted back to Step 1 of a two-way conference tiebreaker which would have not been resolved until the 5th step - net points against all opponents - which the Giants would have won (to figure that, NY was +5 in net points against AFC teams, while the Packers were -9).
Even weirder would have been if the Giants and Cowboys tied. In that scenario Carolina would have claimed the last playoff spot because of their victory over GB at Lambeau 3 weeks earlier (on the game's final play no less). Another odd part of that day was that Dallas's win not only put them in the playoffs, knocking out Green Bay and Carolina, but the Cowboys win plus the Detroit loss earlier in the day meant the Cowboys leapfrogged the Lions to the #5 seed while the Lions ended up as the #6 seed.
One correction. The Packers ended up +25 in net points in conference games. Heading into the final weekend they were dead even - at zero. Carolina ended up at +14 after their win over the Saints. Heading into that game they were at -14. The Giants were at -56 leading into Week 17.
Another ironic aftermath of that is that league officials decided they didn't want that scenario playing out again so prior to the Texans being added and the league realigning they also restructured the tiebreaker rules. Thus starting in the 2002 season strength of victory was added as a tiebreaker- the 5th step in ties between teams in the same division and the 4th step in conference tiebreakers. Strength of schedule was moved up to the 6th step to break division ties and the 5th step for conference ties. Then if those didn't resolve the deadlock, they revived a step from the 70s - best combined conference ranking in total points scored and total points allowed followed by best league ranking in total points scored and total points allowed. The net points tiebreakers were shoved way down toward the bottom of the pecking order. For division ties it's now net points against common opponents followed by net points against all opponents, while for conference ties it's net points against conference opponents followed by net points against all opponents. Then for both divisional and conference tiebreakers the last two steps are net touchdowns against all opponents and coin flip.
Since 2002 the league has never had to employ any tiebreaker that needed to go past the 4th step for either divisional (conference record) or conference (strength of victory) tiebreakers.
Im still confused by the whole thing. NFL Throwback should do a video covering this day and the tiebreaker rules.
So, I emailed Colby again, 6 months later. No response as of yet, but I have a feeling this will be the definitive answer of whether we’ll ever get this officially or not. ESPN will almost definitely never release it, and if Colby doesn’t post it then I just don’t see it surfacing ever. However, fingers crossed. I’ll edit this comment when (or rather, if) Colby responds.

Giants going into that game were hoping that both Carolina and Green Bay would've lost for them to even be alive going into their match against Dallas. However as we saw on those highlights, Giants were eliminated before kickoff because of the results of the games. Which was a moot point anyway because the Cowboys won and they got in.

So I actually was able to isolate the song from an installment of boomer’s final drive, however… it sounds horrible. The quality sucks, the song is all choppy, it’s just really not worth the time just to hear it in that state.

That way it would only have to remove the sounds (aka the talking) that is different in each one but keep the sound that is consistent in all (aka the music).

4:22 How come we never get scenarios like this again in the last week of the season? No one really emphasizes on the point differential for tiebreakers these days. It’s mostly either the head to head or conference records. In the end the Packers didn’t make the playoffs out of all this wild scenario stuff they did to beat Panthers and the points they still didn’t end up getting in.
Point differential moved down on the list of tiebreakers in 2002 when the NFL realigned and created a new list of tiebreakers, including the new "strength of victory" tiebreaker. I think it's only gotten as far as strength of victory once since then.

There's still a lot that's unclear about this. Like who posted it, how'd they get it, why'd they take it down, was it at the request of Colby or ESPN, and will Colby actually put it on his site? A Giants win over the Cowboys would've created a 3-way tie between NYG, CAR, and GB that would've come down to scoring margin (the Giants' scoring margin was way worse than the other two). Carolina's win over Green Bay would've been the deciding factor if the DAL/NYG game had ended in a tie.
