- Icelandic artist Ragnar Kjartansson is said to be one of the most exciting artists working today, making his name with performance and video works that combine duration and repetition -- and dance between the realms of theatre, music, and art. We join him as he prepares to open his first major U.K. exhibition at the Barbican in the heart of London.
I was very fortunate to see an installation of The Visitors just before I left San Francisco. It was so beautiful and so arresting and the audience felt it and we all felt that we were feeling it. It truly does justice to Beauty in art.
In 2009 I was in Venice and staying in a little hotel on the 3rd floor above the artists studio where Ragnar created a painting each day. What is not mentioned are the five videos where he and friends made amazing music in the ice and snow- a grand piano on a glacier - a similar idea to The Visitors. It was so exciting to revisit this over the 3 days I stayed in Venice. I wish I could be in London to see the exhibition. An original!
