The fact that this incredibly advanced display is mass produced and can be so cheap nowdays, says a lot about how far tech has gone, and people really don't appreciate as much as they should.
mass market mobile oled doesn't use QD. Vincent teoh of hdtvtest did display analysis on an iphone 12 pro, and the underlying tech for iphone displays hasn't changed a ton between 2020 and today (in terms of color performance) so it's still relevant. Displaymate has tested the iphone 14 pro max but their data presentation and tests aren't fully industry standard for video workloads.
Another great video from NanoPalomaki's Channel!! It's great to see how the LCD actually work!! Can't wait for the next videos from this channel. And still waiting for MiniLED TV's tearing down. I'm still curious about how it actually work.
@@NanoPalomaki Yes. We need a miniLED tear-down. Would definitely want to learn how the zone control works if you can test that out. Please cover that aspect in detail if possible. That is the most interesting aspect. Be eagerly waiting for that.
Very interesting and educational videos. Always i wondered what is inside or how transparent Oled's is working. What differ between 2 types. Normal and transparent.
Hey Nano. 65 R635 QLED here. To make a long story short sorta.... I've been through 2 new R635's plus the failed. Sent from TCL (warranty). The issue is color. Everything imaginable been done. Factory reset, nothing hooked to it etc. No direct sunlight on panel, normal 70F room temp. The problem is, after 6 months on the left, bright, saturated reds started to get a magenta hew. Then blues and greens were affected. Then the area took up 30% of left side of the screen. TCL sent a new panel, 8 months later - failed just like the original, same exact thing. This was a "new" not refurb. They sent a third - failed. TCL said they'd send a tech - they replaced every board with factory new boards here at my house - hooked it up - same thing. I was so pissed and so much time had gone by, warranty was gone. After weeks of fighting, they sent another - this time it wsa a factory refurb. That was a year ago - it's still in the box. I have the third panel mounted on my wall - colors aren't as vibrant compared to the right. And red has that magenta tinge. All these test with colors are done with generated YT color tests-all one color. WTF is going on, seriously. I love your tear down and it got me thinking to ask you as TCL has NO answers. After looking at reddit, I'm not alone on the R635. What the hell is causing this? Doesn't matters if its YT, blue ray, cable, streamed or content from my HDD. That wasn't a short story :( But I'm still pissed. Cheers!
If it's always 1/3 of the screen it sounds like one (or more) of the LED boards. Could also be the LCD though as this is driven in parts but it sounds like you replaced that. Tough to know without taking it apart (which is the fun part). If you give up on it you can try what I do and take it apart (carefully) so that you can see the backlight and diagnose what is going wrong.
Thank you for sharing your experience with the facinating world of TV. How different colors is generated for each subpixel. Does the backlight brightness change. Is liquid crystals used in OLED and Qdoled.
LC is not used in OLED or QD-OLED, but in basically all other TVs made today (LCDs). Backlight brightness does change based on the content as you can see with the local dimming test at the end.
Hello! I came across your videos while searching for Quantum Dot displays. After watching a couple of your videos, I came to the conclusion that QD displays could have blue LEDs as backlight (presuming the QD layer would then NOT consist of blue-sized dots) but there are also cases where the backlight is white, which is achieved by covering the LED with phosphor or laying it in close proximity to the light source. Are there any reliable sources that I can use as sources for a university assignment? I also wanted to know whether the liquid crystal is replaced by quantum dots in some displays as I saw structure diagrams where it's not included in the breakdown. Cheers!
LCs are not typically replaced by QDs, rather the QDs are there to enhance the color by converting blue to red/green and the LC remains function as it normally does. There are many review articles describing how QDs work in display technology, especially LCDs. Society for Information Display could be a good place to start.
Моя старая плазма Samsung показывает намного лучше, чем QLED😂 Но все равно спасибо за видео, интересно смотреть, как китайцы чуть чуть доработав LCD панель выдают её за новую технологию :)
Amazing videos. I've always been curious how LCDs works.

I wonder how the spectrum compares with an OLED screen? Fascinating stuff!
Cool video as usual.
I'd imagine the red stripes on the rolling shutter are likely due the slow decay time of KSF red phosphorus. Pretty cool indeed.
Another fantastic video! Still hoping for the iPhone 13/14 Pro OLED analysis. :)

Would love to do a deep dive OLED (TV and mobile). There are significant differences I know (W-OLED vs RGB at a minimum).

I'm keeping my eye out for some miniLED tech that I can get my hands on! Thanks for the support!

Thanks for this sharing this awesome content for free.
Is there anyway that I can contact with you ?
I need to learn more.
Great work man i always wanted to know how are the leds inside my tv QA65Q70AAUXMM

В настоящем OLED дисплее не используют жидкие кристаллы, будем надеяться что и не будут. То, что выпустил Samsung, это пародия на OLED.

Hurray for the shout-out at 17:04! My son is excited because I'm famous now.
No comment on the FWHM of the QDs indicating that it's probably CdSe?
The one and only JM!

What happens if we cut the panel let say 5 cm from top ...to reduce the height of the TV (make it wide)....is still working?
Hi, is there a protective film on Qled TV. What will happen if I removed it?
