Ukraine's government was corrupt long before zielinski came into power. That is because the former government was a Russian puppet government and many of its top officials are still there.. If we're talking about the money that makes it to Ukraine, that number is certainly low but not that low. Most of the money they allocate stays within the massive corruption system of the US. Most of the money goes to the MIC and the politicians are happy if they get a few percent as kickbacks, er, I mean campaign contributions. And of course jobs in the MIC when they finally get voted out.

People forget that up until zelinski became president there was a Russian puppet government since the breakup of the Soviet union. Many of those government officials of the 90s are still in power and are still in corrupt. And it's obvious that zelinsky has no support. Putin has always stated since he came to power, 20 years no dictatorship there, that he wants to bring back the Russian empire recreating the times of Catherine the Great. Which ironically also involved the invasion of Crimea. If Ukraine goes down because we're saying Ukraine and other former Soviet occupied territories no longer have a right to their sovereignty then eventually they will be knocking at our doors. This is what happened when the leaders in the 90s ignored in Iraq after the war with Iran and we ended up getting Al-Qaeda and 9/11. I guess there are many on both sides of the aisle now willing to wait we have to fight them here. They have not learned the lessons of the past.

The sooner we stop sending them money, the sooner they admit that they've already lost - and the sooner they can stop throwing old men into the meat grinder.
While I agree we shouldn't be giving them money it's not exactly in the best interest of the country for Russia and Ukraine to wrap up quickly and amicably. Russia was considered to be the biggest threat to the US before Ukraine. The longer the fighting drags out the more information is able to be gathered on Russian capabilities, as well as the added benefit of them taking as many losses as possible.
For the US it's a win-win. Yeah, we're throwing money at them which isn't popular with the citizens. But if all we're doing is throwing money at someone else to take Russian troops and armor off the board it doesn't really matter if they're victorious or not. They do as much damage as they can while we don't take any at home, Russia comes out the other side with some cuts and bruises, we come out with a ton of new data.
Not that I agree with it, it's just pretty basic logic. Ukraine doesn't give us a tactical advantage even if they were to somehow get a peace treaty from Russia. They're not a nato member, they're not an ally, they're not a priority in terms of natural resources. It is however an excuse to let Russia break a bunch of their armored vehicles, which comprises the majority of their military.

What we've found out by sending them out dated and surplus military equipment is even though Russia had a lot of troops, their tech is trash. If they want to continue to waste their resources against people that aren't the US, it's in the interest of the US to get the Russians to expend as much as possible.

Almost all the money went to "non-profit" NGOs. The thing is "non-profit" doesn't mean "charity". Instead of giving the profits to shareholders, as in a for profit company, the money goes to exorbitant salaries for EMPLOYEES who are usually closely related (nepotism). I've worked for a bunch of non-profits and the ALL do this. Most famously the Susan B. Komen Foundation, the pink ribbon people. Less than 5% of revenue goes to breast cancer research.
So what happened is the employees of the NGOs just pocketed all the money and the actual homeless got nothing.
San Francisco had a program during Covid that provided set up tents and port a potty’s in a parking lot for homeless. Cost? 80k+ PER TENT per year. That, thats where the money goes. Shit like that.

I work for a Ecommerce software company based in the Firearms and Ammunition industry and I had about a dozen individual ukrainian based companies, asking if they could set up online sales in America, for the sale of millions of rounds of 5.56 nato ammo they had set up to ship here, they just needed 3pl, and a partner in the US to set up the business and sell it.
This all started about 6months into the war, I instantly knew my tax dollars had most likely paid for that ammo and these ukranian guys planned to sell the ammo we sent them, back to US consumers.

The people of Eastern Ukraine voted to join Russia again and a few days after the vote passed a violent overthrow of the government and installation of a puppet leader prior to Zelinski happened. Then for almost 9 years they have been shelling the cities of Eastern Ukraine and have been killing civilians daily. Totalling almost 20,000 civilians in almost a decade. Putin had warned Western leaders for years to stop killing ethnic Russians there and encroaching on Russian territory but They Refused to abide by there own (Minsk accord) and Putin finally said enough is enough and started the Special Military Operation. You have been lied to by Corporate media your whole life.
