  • This is a guide to choosing a reed switch for a model railway model automation when using a Raspberry Pi or Arduino. The reed switch can be used with a magnet on the locomotive, wagon, carriage or elsewhere on the train. This will then detect the train and can be used to make the train automatically stop at the station or activate a railway crossing barriers or lights.
