- This has been a family favorite for a long time. Simple, fast and easy appetizer on any BBQ. This is very well know in Brazil and I make this all the time for my family and guest. Hope you enjoy this awesome recipe.

1.5 lbs Ground Beef 20%fat, 80%lean
1 tsp Garlic Powder
1 tsp Smoked Paprika
1 tsp Chili Powder
1 tsp Onion Powder
1 tsp Organic Thyme
2 tbsp Olive Oil

1/2 Lemon Juice

I make a variant of these. I spread the bread with plain yellow mustard and I add onions and Worcestershire Sauce to the mix instead of tomatoes and lemon juice.

Hi, Guga. Greetings from Croatia! In Croatia, and in neighbouring countries, we use chilli flakes instead of tomatoes. We also serve it with a cheese dip (kajmak).

Hey Guga I made them today and it was DE-licious! Slight variation instead of tomatoes I used some pico de gallo I had around and after cooking I sprinkled a bit of grated cheese on top. Did I mention it was.. Delicious? Seriously, Brazilian or not its good. And hey maybe Brazil can even do a little better in soccer this time? I am German so I do feel for them 😉

I can confirm as a Brazilian myself, this is not a Brazilian appetiser, it is just an invention.
That is Bulgarian food , we calling ,, Stanjanka ,, or ,, Princes ,, depending of the area .

Awesome! I like to make a variant of those :) mine are with a minced bell pepper instead of the tomato and a bit of worcestersauce. (Spice blend is the same mostly) but the big difference is that I add grated cheese to the mix although then you can't really grill them upside down anymore but I do mine in the oven. Keep the great videos coming, love 'em :)

Okay so here goes my Variant from A to Z: I usually go for ground beef but mixed with pork also works. About 200-250g, then i finely dice 0.5-1 red bell pepper depending on size and throw that in. Afterwards i go with 1 eggyolk (to bind it together) and a couple of dashes worcestersauce and the spice mix (red curry powder, smoked paprika, garlic powder, salt,ground black pepper, cayenne pepper). Depending on how cheesy you want it i'd add 100-200g of grated cheese (mozarella or cheddar works great but you could also go for something fancy like gruyere). Now, depending on the buns you use you might want to add a bit of panko breadcrumbs. I usually hollow my buns out a bit like Guga does but I use that in the mix as well to soak up that goodness and so that the buns don't get too soggy. Then you just mix it up until it's nicely combined and let it rest a bit in the fridge until your oven comes up to temperature (180-200°c without convection works well for me), then you spread it evenly on the buns and put them in for 30-45min depending on how thick it's on there :)
I was thinking cheese, too. I'm also thinking, if you're into efficiency and economy, you could just get a loaf of Italian or French bread and half it - then make two larger "boats" and cut them to serving size. That may make them a problem to turn if you grill them, though.

About the coals I use 2 types, one is natural lumb as you saw on this video and the other is brickets. Lumb is hoter, but I do use both.
