Just adding some context. He would probably have gotten even deeper than me with a sword like I was using.
That sounds weird... #martialarts #history
I knew people would talk about that vid
I feel like I've made videos covering it before, but now that it's topical...
@@MarcusVance i see
@@MarcusVance When in Rome, after all.
If Scott Sr. had done it, that sword would have gone through anyway. Have you seen that guy? I'm half convinced that Scott Jr. survived his accident because Death took one look at his dad and said 'Nope!'.
Easy answer? probably not a very good sword
and likely on purpose, to make the kevlar look better
Not really sure what he would have to gain by deliberately failing. It's probably just that, while he is to some extent a knife guy, he isn't a sword guy.
@@jic1 he gets kickbacks from the Kevlar company
Or maybe the armor is actually tough 🤷♂️
"All swords are equal, but some swords are more equal than others."
maybe it is just me or swordtubers make better modern vs medieval armor/weapon tests than guntubers
more often than not, guntubers use either cheap decoration armor and wallhanger swords to use against guns and modern armor
while swordtubers use legit swords on legit modern armor or legit authentic armor repros against guns (like when skallagrim tested medieval helmets against various guns, surprisingly 1911 can't penetrate them lol)
Probably because guntubers can tell good kevlar from bad and good guns from bad whilst swordtubers can't and swordtubers can tell good armor from bad and good swords from bad. The issue is bad/prop swords and armor are more visible than the good ones and guntubers don't have the expertise to tell the apart.
A lot of "swordtubers" use shitty material with some even using airsoft
@@right584 no way
I've yet to find one like that
That brings the question, what would be the best sword/blade design for combatting modern body armor? Of course the awnser differs heavily depending if you are talking soft body armor or hard rifle rated plates.
Resident evil 4 save theme
He used the shtty flex ones (the ones mostly selled on the market are *purposefully* made to be like that, so that when people are using them bluntly & with a "coin & cork" tip, they may never accidentally stab through them & hurt each other.
It is the directive, but it is also possible to get hard versions with less flex (but higher fragility to shatter) from Your blacksmith, or by just modifying Your bought blade on Your own 💜
Edit:
Use a stiff & hard rapier to basically make a shish kebab - similar to the result of using a dagger: once You poked a full entry (which is *incredibly easy with a rapier), it just goes *all the way through,*
*less stuck on the spine.
So will the old Sword Bayonets from WWII puncture Kevlar?
I think the targets ablility to absorb some of the blow by being pushed backwards could affect the results too.
What if you sharpen the bullets?
That's basically the same thing as decreasing the bullet diameter while increasing muzzle velocity (thus maintaining energy on target), and it works.
@@jic1 I mean make them blade shaped like an arrow.
@@asahearts1 That's going to mess with their aerodynamics. The closest thing to what you are talking about are fin-stabilized flechettes, tiny darts which are loaded into the cartridge using a plastic spacer known as a sabot which detaches as the round leaves the barrel. In theory they should be extremely effective, in practice not so much.
@@jic1 What if you make the bullet shaped like a kunai so you can reel it back in?
@@asahearts1 That may be a joke I don't quite get, but why would you want to do that?
Huh you learn something every day also it might be because of how many layers of Kevlar there are.
It also just purely depends on what class of body armor was being used. A lot of lower class bulletproof armors do not protect against glades, whereas there are blade resistant stuff that doesn't provide any bullet protection and a lot of the stuff that ends up having both tend to be made using ceramic or steel
Do a callab
This is where absolute strength vs relative strength comes In. Space marines are absolutely stronger than the relatively weaker Spartans
Please rate Kamen Rider franchise's weapons and armor :3
Nice subtitles lmao
Because the test was crap and the weapons were low quality garbage toys.
Are you mad because medieval weapons are not that strong
I refused to watch when a popular UA-camr steals content ideas.
If this is in reference to me, I've been doing melee weapons (and power tools) vs kevlar for at least a year
@@MarcusVance I thought they meant the other way around, but either way the idea that two UA-camrs can't have the same idea independently seems a bit silly.
Yeah, I would be surprised if Scott had ever heard of me or seen my stuff.
Please do a collab with @KentuckyBallistics

Does his sword bending like that mean it was made of a bad material? Is the sword meant to do that? Im just wondering why his bent and neither of yours did.
It’s a mix swords are designed to bend and flex most of the time however, Kentucky ballistics sword, probably bended a bit excessively.
@@gwydionrusso3206 out of curiosity why would you want a sword thats designed to bend anyway?
@@mrsexy5680 because a sword that’s 100% rigid is one of two things
overly hard and thus prone to shattering or, overly thick and thus very heavy.
the flexing also helps to reduce shock to the hand.
