    I loved this video! You really give detailed information about each hike and your recommendations of what it’s good for based on what someone may need or want in a hiking environment. Excellent job! Also, loved the bear and the deer at the end! Oh, and the ice cream sounds yummy too! Another great job! 💜

    Great vid, great inspiration. I have a chance to visit and do the skyline drive in early April. I have two days. Any reccomendations for that season?

    • @William180
      @William180  4 роки тому +1

      Lasse Grunstrup hiking is the best experience to get a good feel of the Shenandoah mountains.... most of the campgrounds will still be closed in April so a local camp in Waynesboro or Sherando lake would be ideal for camping. Another good hike not mentioned is the Doyle’s river and Jones run loop trail.....ya can see bear early spring there... have a good time and keep in touch let me know how your visit went

    That bear was waiting for a bowl of noodles and fried rice like me to come and instead saw a bowl of lowfat yogurt like you strolling througj his hood and he was like "eh..not hungry..let me go find someplace to scratch my butt"

    Thanks for the tips, William; I plan a trip to this park, driving on the Skyline for a day (visiting family in MD from NYC). You're used to the bears, but I think I would be terrified to come across a bear. I hope that I can deal with the situation if it comes up.

      Hi William, I drove the whole length of the Skyline in 7 1/2 hours; I didn't have time to do any hiking. I did enjoy the lookouts & watched the sunset at the Sawmill Run Overlook. No bears, only saw some deer :-)

      Black Bear are not Grizzlies. Not nearly as aggressive but most of the time when problems arise as when the bear has Cubs. They say to stand your ground and to try to make yourself appear big and make a lot of noise. Most of the time they will run from you if they hear you they do not like people. But like I said the main problem is when they have Cubs any time that I've heard of somebody being attacked it's because the bear had Cubs and they got between the cub and the mama bear. I've lived in the valley my whole life and I've never had a scary encounter with a black bear.

    Can you walk down from the the south falls trail and swim at all?

    • @William180
      @William180  4 роки тому +1

      Travis Arnold it’s not a very good swimming hole.

    • @ayyotrav9293

      William 180 aw that’s too bad. Are there any good swimming spots around the park?

    • @edwardmeade
      @edwardmeade 2 роки тому

      @@ayyotrav9293 Not really. The grades are steep enough throughout the park so there is no place for water to collect. If you really want to swim, your best bet is Shenandoah River State Park in Bentonville, down in the valley between the Blue Ridge and Massanutten. There is also an outfitter in Bentonville (Downriver Canoe) where you can rent tubes, canoes, kayaks etc.

    Why don't you show the trail you are on? We would like to see what it looks like; instead you keep the camera on yourself. Why do we have to know what you look like? So many videos are like this.
