Is it just me or does black metal help you cope with anger, sadness and other emotions? The sound of the raw screams and heavy repeating riffs hits somewhere differently compared to other genres and even different genres of metal too. I've been slowly declining into a deep depression that never felt so intensely about taking my own life and it seems like this music numbs my emotions to where I just dont feel anything when I'm listening to it, an escape from this dark pit I cant get out of.
BM is the negation of life itself. To end the created within you, let it all go and become divine again! If you want to experience the creation furthermore, then you'd bether abandon this path but you have to accept the pain life comes with.
I was 17 when i first heard this in 93. You're right, I think it's pure genious. And at that time completely original, still haven't heard anything like it from before (besides maybe Bathory) or figured out how the idea for that kind of mournful vocals in the background came from. And this from a teenager in Bergen, probably written 1992 or earlier too. Too bad he mostly became a weirdo/joke/nazi/vlogger/fucking idiot in the end.
Burzum isn`t evil at all. People tend to stick Burzum into the context of most other Black Metal music. "Cold, grim, evil." Burzum isn`t evil. It is beautiful music that is intended to paint landscapes in the mind and tell a story of a dream world. No devil horns or headbanging needed in this area.
On one hand you are right. But then I reminded myself of the second riff on Jesus Tod. Definition of evil to me. You made an interesting point nonetheless.
Deeply unique contribution that evokes such mysterious feelings. It's crazy to think about how young he was when he made this (and other equally brilliant songs).
"En Ring Til Å Herske" is Norwegian for "One Ring To Rule", obviously a LOTR referance, helped by the fact that "Burzum" is orcish for "Darkness". Varg even went by the name "Count Grishnackh", yet another reference to Tolken's works. It's clear what Varg was into back then.
@@howiegaming9985 That's great! Learning Norwegian is mostly about vocabulary, the grammar is relatively simple, and deviates very little from English sentences. The one grammatical thing that might be a bit jarring is gendered nouns (en/ei/et, ect.), which really have no logic behind it and is just something one just have to memorize
In a dark forest with cold pond A place where the Lord of the world Fire does not reach In the darkest of the great By night - by time And they gathered And became the house of death Children of the times Children of the mighty sons We are in a circle of black
i would recommend you Peste Noire a french black metal band. Their latest album was a freaking masterpiece. Also if you like more depressive, ambient black etc i would recommend Agaloch and Xasthur. Gris is also pretty good. Also Ravencult are a pretty good Greek band and also Necromantia who are also from Greece and Kawir are good too (from Greece too :P).
In a dark forest with cold lakes A place where the lord of the worlds fire dont reach In the darkest in the big of night - of time and they gathered and became dying ???(transelates to houses...) Children of the power of time Children of the darkest sons We stand in a black circle
Some things are very emotional. What he is saying in this saying in this song, may for him, before emotional. And if that is the case, is that so bad? I say no. Life is all about emotion, and if one finds something to be emotional, is that wrong? Of course not. If anything, the fact that he becomes emotional in this song, makes it more significant. It makes this song more than just a song, it makes it an experience. We musn't hide behind an image, but express ourselves as truthfully as we can.

Uuh music in general does that so obvs it depends on your preference. If you like BM then it's BM
Hope you are feeling better, friend.

As I saw on other comments, Burzum is like the Pink Floyd of Black Metal, the lyrics, the ambient, everything. HAIL BURZUM.

One of the best by Varg. I love the tempo and the haunting riffs. Plus the vocals. Chilling.

I thought it meant "A call to rule"
@@howiegaming9985 Haha, yes "ring" in Norwegian can also mean to call someone on the phone, but that obviously isn't what is meant here.
