So beautiful! So impressive! I can't imagine a more peaceful way to spend your free time. Where do the adult frogs do during the winter?

Perfect. My pond is ultra tiny, as I haven't much room. No filters almost a year old. Five happy fishes. Frogletts and plants. A few solar fountains. Small ones to create some bubbles. Fish are happy.
The test will be this winter as the fountains will go off. I haven't got the ability to add electric pump or anything. I think they'll be fine as they slow down over winter anyway.
Thanks for sharing your beautiful natural pond. I do wish I had a little waterfall for mine. Sounds lovely. God bless 😊

Beautiful! You do excellent work. The whole space looks both vibrant and peaceful. And I'll bet your yard's summertime ambient temperature is lower than your neighbor's. Watch the cattails - they are lovely, and will take over the pond while you're not looking. 🙂

The reason your lily pads came in so late was because of the fact that they are not water lilies at all. They are actually lotus. :) All species of lotus are warm water, heavy sun reliant plants. Hardy Water lily pads show up as soon as the water hits the fifties. Love the pond btw!

Good to know. I think we got them for 50 cents on wish.com or something. Doesn't surprise me they are something we didn't order! Oh well. The frogs love 'em.

This is wonderful. Great to see so much wildlife enjoying your little oasis. Just wondering if you have any problems with other animals such as stray cats?

Thanks! No, not really. Our yard is fenced in so we don't get anything besides small animals. A couple of farm cats visit our yard on a regular basis but don't pay much attention to the pond.

@@NonsensicalNation Ah, good to hear. Feral cats are a huge problem in Australia. I'm not sure how I could do this without cats coming to eat the fish but I'll look into it.

@@lyrebird9749there is an entire group of feral cats that lives right beside my pond and drink from it often. But, the deep end where the fish hang out is deep enough that the cats can’t get to them. It’s also too far from the shores for them to look into if they aren’t touching the water.

Hi have you thought of adding pond clams for more water clarity? Your water looks suitable for their feeding habits.

I never considered it and don't know anything about them. I'll have to do a little research. Thanks!

Love it! My pond, 10' x 16' is above ground that I made with concrete blocks and liner. It's filled with goldfish and guppies. Found a water snake loving it and every time I tried to catch it, he would slither up the side and hide in the rocks:( Have you had any problem with water snakes?

Thanks! Nope, no problems. I've seen snakes but they behave.

Do you have much trouble with Great Blue Herons? A friend who had a pond... called them feathered sharks

This is wonderful. I'm assuming the fish are native to the area. If they are, can you catch and release at another location?

    • @NonsensicalNation

They are not native. Your basic cheap-o comet goldfish.
