Wow so beautiful!!! You really can make a difference with such a little space. I have almost an acre and half is wild grown wooded, the other half is boring lawn. I hope to slowly take over the lawn with wildflowers and native trees/shrubs, currently I have 1500 sq ft behind my yard in the process of being transformed into a butterfly sanctuary with native plants. I would rather spend 5 hours tending a garden as beautiful as this, than spend 30 minutes mowing lawn. You can't hear birds chirping with the buzz and roar of a motor.
Awesome! I have some native plants in my yard, and I love all the bees and birds that come by. I remember weeding underneath my red-flowering currant and hearing this loud thrumming noise that startled me. Hummingbirds were feeding right over my head!
My 1,500' garden in Nebraska has been drought tolerant and a wildlife transit station for 6 years. Gardening isn't hard -- right native for right place. Plant thickly to shade soil. Use varied heights and flower colors / sizes. Diversity in plant = diversity in insects = diversity in birds = fewer diseases and pests. See my garden at The Deep Middle.
This is my backyard dream. Thanks!
