I still have the gbc version and I'm impressed that they manage to add animated cutscenes.
Tarzan repeatedly collecting hundreds of bananas was my favorite part of the movie!

Well alotta us do I don't like these robotic graphics nowadays that look like Ai robots!!! Them painfully fake looking graphics if I want real graphics look at the world!!!!!! Def better and more real then games today 😂

It may look absolutely horrible, but pulling off something like this on GBC is commendable. Only similar thing I've seen that comes closest to animated cutscene was Dragon's Lair, but even that didn't use the original video.

There are more GBC games with FMV intros. Rayman has a nice one.
All things considering, the animation os very good for a Gameboy Colour game.

Digital Eclipse did a great job porting Army Men 1 and 2 to the GBC as well. They got the most out of Nintendo's handheld.
I want to hear the non-compressed version of the soundtrack.
This and Tomb Raider on the GBC were my first games (plus Pokemon and Wario Land) :)

I always found it fucked up how in this version, Tarzan purposely leads Clayton to a pit to fall to his death as he glares at him menacingly. Whereas in the original, he never meant to kill Clayton, like at all, even when he had a gun pointed at him. Tarzan gives no fucks here yo, lol.
Man I remember when I had a gbc my mom bought me Pokémon blue and this and I had the powerpuff girls shantae!!!! Great graphics to this day nowadays too robotic with alotta them except resident evil 2 remake which sorta brings this feel back!!!! I loved tarzan!!!! Love the hair physics also and tarzan untamed was great too them spiders creeper me out!!!!
I'm not criticizing the animation or anything like that, because for GBC this was pretty good. The game itself however isn't good. It's just collecting bananas and hide and seek, with "two" boss battles. I say "two" because the Sabor boss was way better then the Clayton one. Sorry GBC, but I'd rather play the N64/PS version of Tarzan
Nice sprite animation mixed with absolutely horrendous pre-rendered level graphics, puke green backgrounds, scratchy hyper compressed music and sound effects that were lifted right from the Atari 2600 era. What a nightmare, holy shit.

Man I remember trying to beat Sabor over and over again and not being able to in the end. It was frustrating to have to play the preceding level before you could get another try.

Maybe it was just my copy, but I always noticed when I went to replay certain levels.. the enemies would be alot closer than normal, thus sometimes making it impossible to beat said level until I restarted or died to put them in the default placement...
This game has rumble, surprisingly.
I still have my copy, but the entire game makes an akward buzzing sound. Porbably because i play it using GBASP considering its for GBC
I have the buzzing sound on my regular GBA & the SP, I gave away my Game Boy Color to my coworkers kid otherwise I'd test it on an OG

Tarzan was released in 1999 for Game Boy Color. Donkey Kong Country released in 2000 for the same platform.

You will find multiple copies of this game at almost every retro game store you go to in the US
WoooW if this game proves that fmv and gameplay along with 4bit digital sound is possible on the gameboycolor, you might wonder why not more games did utelized digital sound.
Donkeykong country could,ve be ideal because it could,ve be sounding closer to the snes had they done that.
But sadly they didn’t bother doing so and it probably also would,ve took a lot of memory space, but still…
