Indeed. One of the greatest singers of all time. Happy they appreciate her in Europe. Here in The Netherlands you can still buy many of her records/cd's in store, without having to order them online.
Saw/heard this collaboration between Randy and the Crusaders 4 times in Europe, in various Jazz festivals. Miss Crawford is totally recognized as a true Jazz performer ❤
If I ever had to put my finger on a group of truly 100% tight musicians it’s Randy and the crusaders man these guys could get a corpse moving and the skill man the bass keyboards sax lead guitar are all the absolute quill.
Amazing version of this song. The intro with the Wilton fielder sax solo and then Randy starts singing "I still hang around is probably the finest 60 seconds of music I have ever heard. It just blows me away.
2022 has come and it's already 7th day. This is the very first UA-cam video that hit and moved me so far in 2022. REAL R.E.A.L. MUSIC! Would these days ever come back in my lifetime? So beautiful and classy!
this is no disco but soul...make the same mistake, this was in the bars who mostly named it with disco behind. I was 15 in 1980...25 in 1990, the best years in music, with gems from earlier, later so many kinda music , the cd time, glad we go back again to vinyl albums, waving from Best , close way up Eindhoven 10km.
Remember hearing this for the first time, exactly 40 years ago this month in August 1979. It was in a club- when the sax started playing and then Randy began to sing EVERYONE froze! No one knew who it was! Created an amazing buzz in the place!
I was a freshman Texas Southern Univ, (same college they attended) when I heard this song for the very first time,,, Street Life is about their history,,, still here in 2021,,,,RIP fellas
Randy Crawford & The Crusaders - Street Life. Randy Crawford has the most sensuous voice and she puts such passion in this song. She knows just exactly what an audience expect from her and she delivers a song from her soul. The Saxophone is such a necessary musical instrument 🎷 for this song. This has a funky, jazzy influence which is most definitely the kind of music I love ❤️ to listen to. The video photography is really good as it shows the performers. I absolutely love this song it’s a really well enacted type of music. Well done, Randy and all the Crusaders especially the Saxophone player. Thank You 🙏
We are so lucky Randy Crawford performed here in our country the Philippines her very 1st concert Dec. 25, 1988 at the Ultra (now Phil Sport Arena) and I've watched it. She's so Amazing!
3 of the originals , gone in less then a year and a half , too too sad , they will be missed forever , long live wayne , joe , and wilton, in our hearts , forever .
The concert was on 16 october 1980 in the Jaap Edenhal. Randy Crawford sang only one song with The Crusaders: Streetlife. The song was broadcast 6 days later the 22d of october on the Countdown show.
My young wife Bridgette and I were on holiday from Paris to Netherlands in 1980. Nether one of us spoke English well , but unforgettable night . André Cartier 🗼.
It is absolutely impossible to replicate the explosive sound that was made in the studio on a live stage .... NEVERTHELESS, I SO WISH I had been there on this night to see Randi's incredible performance. OH, where is the BRASS ?!?!? (haaaa) -- also Jackie Brown is hands down the best Tarrantino film I've ever seen ....
Thank you those compliments keep your clothes on and stop selling your body parts or exposing them. I love their ability to perform and maintaining Professional demeanor is a Bonus!😊😅🎉🎉❤
Great to see and hear them live at their best! I first heard this song flying back to Buenos Aires from Mexico D.F. in 1981... They blew my head off! Randy's voice, Wilton's solo... I always wanted to play and sound like him. Never could... One of my favorite songs. Thanks for uploading, and eternal thanks to all Crusaders for their outstanding talent and music.
This is the best live version that I have seen of "Street Life". Great to see Nesbert "Stix" Hooper, one of the 4 original "Jazz Crusaders", along with Joe Sample and Wilton Felder. Too bad Wayne Henderson was not there to make it complete.
@@toddbrittain1060 Agree. The original fat bass groove was not so busy as this. Everybody wanted to be Jaco for a while. The other thing is Stix is slightly better here than on the studio version where he just runs away with the tempo.
The Crusaders at the pinnacle of their success. I played this cassette over and over until it exploded my Blapunk tape deck in my 1977 vw beetle convertible allegedly the last one in Los Angeles according to the sales guy at Volkswagen Los Angeles.
Amongst my list of the greatest, but saddest songs ever recorded. A blues feel in an R&B format - almost danceable. But an awful tale about so many people. Its almost like the Stones, "Sympathy for the Devil". Snap your fingers and clap, but with the poignant warning in the end "...I'll lay your soul to waste..." Sting sang a BS song (Roxanne) about being in love with a prostitute. He followed up almost apologetically with "Tomorrow We'll See" which provided the more prevalent realities of prostitution. I congratulate the Crusaders. Their gritty, chilling depiction of individuals stuck in "Street Life" probably saved quite a few people's lives.
What a voice!
The beast herself
Randy Crawford never got the recognition that she deserved! Excellent performance!!!
Indeed. One of the greatest singers of all time. Happy they appreciate her in Europe. Here in The Netherlands you can still buy many of her records/cd's in store, without having to order them online.
Oh she got it, with the right people ;-)
The truly great ones seldom do get their due.

it's 2020 and i'm still giving the Crusaders with Randy Crawford a standing ovation.
Good is timeless ❣️

She is such a radiant performer.. And what a voice!!
Wilton Felder was a very underrated tenor man .He could play it all .RIP
Interesting fact . . Wilton Felder played bass on ‘I want you back’ by the Jackson 5. and ooooh yeah his sax playing, he could solo forever,
P E A C E

My second jazz lp record @ 1979 at age 18. Still gives me goosepimples till date. Ageless music.
2022 has come and it's already 7th day. This is the very first UA-cam video that hit and moved me so far in 2022. REAL R.E.A.L. MUSIC! Would these days ever come back in my lifetime? So beautiful and classy!
Listen 👂 up it is now February 3023 and we need this type of creative musicians to heal our lives!
It was 1979, I was 15, a rock and prog rock fan...I hated disco, but then, in a disco, I heard this...This is so good...
this is no disco but soul...make the same mistake, this was in the bars who mostly named it with disco behind. I don’t know why,but when I see Wilton Felder dancing and conducting,I’m sooo happy for him man…

Amazing bass playing! All the parts are amazing. Underrated band.
Randy performed the same night there with her own band. Two days later, in the same hall, Weather Report with Jaco on bass...those were the days.
Even in 2023 thus song is a hit R.IP JOE SAMPLE
Real music. Love is in the air
Great to see and hear them live at their best! I first heard this song flying back to Buenos Aires from Mexico D.F. in 1981... They blew my head off! Randy's voice, Wilton's solo... This brings so many happy memories of good times and a very happy summer spent on the beach and a boyfriend called Andrew
Great job Randy 👍👍👍

William, you think so? I think the bass-player is trying too much to sound like Jaco Pastorius and he just loses the groove completely...sigh
WILLIAM SQUIRE .,'
