    This ECM-W2BT mic is good. But Can we see the tilt Display when it puts on Sony a6400 cold shoe ? Pls reply.

    Hi, thank you for your video. I've watched a few of your videos (review for the Sony ECM-W2BT). I'm struggling to decide which wireless mic to buy. I have the ZV-E10, and I'm looking for a wireless mic as the built-in camera mic has a hissing sound... The problem is that I still can hear a slight hissing sound coming out of the Sony ECM-W2BT… Which one do you recommend for easy to use/good-quality audio kind of mic, please? Thank you

    Wow bummed I missed the sale but great video and pick up for you. Does it require charging for both units or does the camera power it? Have you seen a hand held wand that this could be used as an interview mic?

    • @WayneRECs
      @WayneRECs  2 роки тому

      Thanks for asking! Both the Sony ECM-W2BT Transmitter and Receiver have built-in batteries so they do need to be charged via the mini usb ports on both units. BUT, the Receiver will draw additional power from a Sony camera if connected via the MI Shoe (at the obvious expense of your camera's battery).
      I haven't seen any Interview Stick accessories specific to the ECM-W2BT but the clip on the back of the transmitter is really close in size to the Rode Wireless Go clip but unfortunately, the Sony Transmitter's clip is slightly too thick to fit into any type of cold shoe interview accessory. But it does clip great to my spatula lol.

    Guys, just FYI since Sony's website is a bit cloudy about compatibility. You do NOT need any cable even on a A7III with this audio setup. Just flick to analog and you are good to go. The analog signal travels through the MI shoe. So yeah, no messy cables! Just tested by me, obviously. Sorry if the Sony website is actually clear :D
    Thanks for the review, i love the unit too but i wish you could still control the levels in camera. I wonder if this is a software fix. Did you have any trouble recording with those preset attenuations only?

    • @WayneRECs
      @WayneRECs  2 роки тому

      Thanks for your Comment! Yes, the Sony website isn't exactly straightforward with what cameras are compatible and in which setting (digital or analog). I too hope for a firmware update that would allow more fine tuned control over record levels. I think the ECM-W2BT is really targeted to a specific kind of content creator who may not have an extensive knowledge about audio. I've been doing some more testing with this and my ZV-E10 and am planning a follow up video with some more in depth thoughts.

    Hi! Thank you for the video. I bought this with the ZV-E10 too! However, when I used the mic i realised it’s recording the background noise way too loud. But yours sounds fine! I’m wondering am i using it incorrectly?😅 i set the ATT to 0dB when i record.

    • @WayneRECs
      @WayneRECs  2 роки тому +3

      Hi, thanks for your Comment! Here are some things to try. Make sure that when you power on the Receiver on your camera, that you switch it from Off to Digital and that the 2nd switch is set to Mic (if you only want to record the Transmitter signal). I would then try setting the ATT on your Transmitter to either -10 db or -20 db and then try to place the mic closer to the sound source (i.e. you mouth). This should help you get a clearer signal with less noise. Hope this helps!

    Still waiting for my unit, but I bought it for $200 (Sony Philippines). I’ve been eyeing this for my ZV-1 and RX0 II. I’ll likely be using this with a lav mic connected to the clip unit. I could hear a hissing sound in your recording.

      Thanks for your Comment! Good ear! I personally do not think the ECM-W2BT is the cleanest sound, but the compromise is ease of use and streamline interface with compatible Sony cameras. I'm actually planning a follow up video on the ECM-W2BT as I've had some time to use it.

    not sure what I'm doing wrong, but I am attaching the piece to the camera and the audio isn't catching on the mic, only on the camera.

    Which do you prefer, the Rode II or this?

    • @WayneRECs
      @WayneRECs  2 роки тому +2

      I like them both for different reasons... I like the ECM-W2BT for it's convenience and ease of use with the MI Shoe not needing any additional cables (for compatible Sony cameras) and not having to worry about setting specific levels. I also like that the Sony has a mic on the Receiver as well.
      I think the Rode units provide better audio though so personally, I prefer cleaner audio over ease of use. Also, if you want more fine control over your audio recordings, the Rode units are better for fine tuning gain settings (as you have both the option on the units as well as the ability to set the levels in camera). For a person who knows their way around audio, this can be better, but for those who are intimidated by audio, the Sony units are much easier to set up and start using right away.

      @@WayneRECs argh. Wish I knew this before I made the purchase but is what it is. I think another video flagged the hiss which is why I had asked. I have a blink Saramonic Blink 500 but it has a USB c and so I have to buy a new 3.5mm receiver to get that to work. I was really hoping for this Sony one to perform magic.

    How many wireless mics can you connect to the one hotshoe attachment?

    • @WayneRECs
      @WayneRECs  2 роки тому +1

      Hey Erik! Thanks for asking! To my knowledge it's only 1 Mic to 1 Receiver. Maybe if Sony released a Mark II called "W3BT" with 2 transmitters... well that would make the naming convention even more confusing lol

    How do you connect it to the Sony A6000 camera?

    • @WayneRECs
      @WayneRECs  Рік тому

      The A6000 has a Multi Interface shoe so the ECM-W2BT receiver should be able to slide right on and connect to the camera via the MI shoe. I don't think any external cable is needed (and I'm not sure the A6000 has a mic input anyway)
