Have stayed at Sands Beach hotel. Went past the Barcelo Active resort and did wonder about it. Thanks for the review, very likely to try it out now. 👍🏻
I've stayed at Sands Beach three times and would recommend it. Not as showy as the Barcelo, so maybe not up to Liz's standards, but you can walk to Costa Teguise, and run up on the trails from the door. 25m pool
We always sort out our own flights, accommodation and get a taxi from the airport for 20 euros, we have been going for years now though and know where the best places to go. We did like you the first couple of times and went all inclusive. Going back end of the month as I said and doing something a bit different, a private villa about 1.5k out of puerto Calaro, not taking bikes this time but there is an amazing sport centre there with a pool cardio gear, weights, sauna, classes. so we join that for the week. Also there is bike hire at one of the hotels, so we have that option. Calero is a really quiet resort one that is overlooked by most people, but its perfect fro training especially with the sports complex.
Nice one! It’s just the cooking that puts me off of a villa, or having to wear ‘normal clothes’ and go out 🤣 definitely getting a taxi next time, it’s just so close isn’t it
I'm just back from there. Stayed Royal Level all inclusive. Fantastic. Just wondering. For Active side All inclusive did you have to pay for any drinks at all or was everything totall included? Like was there any restrictions at all?
Thanks Liz and Dan! Really helpful We've booked a week mid May! Decided to not take our bikes to save costs and the hassle like you explained. WAs there any bike hire places in walking distance from hotel? (Good road bikes as oppsoed to gravel). FAb info and thanks for heads up about pool and costs. Oh.... sea swimming?? Were there any beaches with safe swimming? Thanks once again🙂
Nice one! There’s one on the hotel resort itself, not sure how busy they are so you might want to book ahead but that would be the most convenient. Not sure about beaches, the sea did look pretty rough during the day but when I rode down to Puerto Del Carmen early one day it looked lovely and there were lots of people swimming. Have a great time!
Good video both .. sounds like a decent place to think about 👌 I’ve got Lanza in May.. people say the course it defo a TT course in the roads there. Just wondering though.. my speed max had 82 back rim and 65 front.. I’ve also got an EZ disc. What do you think you would use? New less deep wheels in them winds or keep? Cheers
Nice one! I’ve never struggled with a disc on the rear but I suppose I am heavier than average. At least with the EZ disc you can take it off race week if you think it’s too twitchy on a test spin, I guess it all depends how windy it is on the day. I think a 60mm is probably borderline what I’d run, I have 58mm wheels on the road bike and I wouldn’t want anything deeper, though newer wheels handle wind differently I know. Have a great race 👍
Love the slow-mo of you swimming mate 😜
phahaa very good ;)

Stayed at sands twice this year but it needs a renovation if honest it’s convenient but the transfer takes a while if you’ve not got a hire car
Nice one, thanks!

Nice one! I think I’ll try that out in spring, definitely want to go back to Lanza

@@TriathlonDan yeah taxi all the way but can be a bit frustrating trying to get one that fits bikes in.

Definitely worth a revisit. When i visited i took the ferry across La Graciosa - the bicycle island. It was fab like being on Mars. Bit windy though 😅
Cheers, we’ll be back for sure! Ha yes the wind is relentless
Glad to hear you enjoy trip
Shocked about the fee for the pool
Cheers, yes sometimes I think about it and it bothers me more. Biggest week ever of swimming still though 🤣

Which part of the complex did you stay in ? The part facing the sea ???
We were the side furthest in land.
Other side :)
I trust Liz brought home all the free toiletries?
I hope so 🤣 ££££
