Back in my Day the Denver Lanes were only on 105th (me when I was known as Cowboy), 106th, Rufus Scott, Delbert Butler, Calvin Scott, Delbert and Anthony Butler (Boon), William Coleman (Lizard), A.J. Ernest (Turtle) and Jr. Baker who lived in Pasadena but was always on the "6". And 109th St - Fred Gaines, Calvin Gaines, Buster, Ronald Owens, Michael Berry etc. There were no other DLB's other than those sets. The DLB/Athens Park alliance goes all the way back to 1971-1972 timeframe with Fred, Stanley, Marcus Timms and others that went to Locke High School with Us. DLB Alliance was also spread to Crenshaw HS when Ralph Kelly was letter of the Van Brims in 1972-1973 time frame when the Van Ness Gang combined with the Brims. Nice history but way after my time in the early 1970;s

@@streetgangs Thanks, just remembering how it was back in the day. Back in the day, we 106 DL's did not hang with those on 109th. Same gang, two different sub-sets. The only ones who came on "the 6" were Calvin Gaines (whom was the leader of the Denver Lanes by virtue of his brother Fred whom was who recruited me when I was going to Bret Harte Jr. HS in the 9th grade. By the way I forgot to list Michael Wynn whom was also an Athens Park " oy as they were known back then. Haven't seen him since we were both at Fort Knox, Kentucky back in June 1974. Spoke with him on Classmates.com several years ago. I also forgot to list William "Lizard" Coleman who also lived on 106th and was a DL. Also my play cousin Clevan "Cowlicks" Paul whom went to Crenshaw HS, but always hung with us and was accepted as a Denver Lane.
@@keith420840 Keith, the last time I saw Jr. Baker (Vic as we called him) was when in the back of Jr. Scott (Rufus) garage when they held me down and poured Silver Satin with cool aid down my throat and got me drunk right before I left to go in the Army in March/April 1974. I had heard rumors of his home being ran in by some Crips and that he was murdered. I talked to his cousin Jr. Scott whom said he was still alive and well. I live in Texas but I am still in contact with Rufus, Anthony (Boon), AJ, Calvin and Delbert (with whom I've known since the 5th grade back at 93rd street Elementary (off 93rd and San Pedro). I had also heard Ralph Kelly was dead (Leader of the Van Brims whom last I saw when we both we scooped up from the 1973 Wattstack and sent to East Lake Juvenile Hall. We are all now between the ages of 61 to 64 years of age. Michael Berry has been locked down since 1993 and got life. I found this out from his brother Dale Berry since we still communicate and he is a fellow Locke HS Grad of our class of 1974.
