Sweden sent volunteers during both Schleswig Wars. Around 7,000 Swedish troops assisted the Danes in the First Schleswig War. It was the Swedish government who refused to fight a war against Prussia.
@@faderneslandet3489 If I remember correctly, the Swedish government until then had an overall good relationship with the Prussians dating back to the Napoleonic Wars (where they were allies). Thus, while they disapproved of their dispute with the Danes, they weren't willing to fully jeopardize that. The Scandinavian and Germanic countries have had roller coaster relations for centuries it seems.
@@faderneslandet3489 There were not 7.000 Swedes involved in the fighting of the First Schleswig War. That's completely wrong. 260 Swedes, mostly Scanians, volunteered for Danish service. That was the only non-monetary Swedish contribution to the Danish cause. However, four Swedish regiments were sent to Fyn in the summer of 1848 to help keep the ceasefire between German and Danish forces. These did not partake in any action, however, and can not be said to have assisted the Danes. The Swedish King and government refused to get themselves involved in any fighting.

@@faderneslandet3489 Those were the four regiments that I mentioned. They were only there to maintain the ceasefire. They never partook in any combat, nor were they intended to do any such thing. King Oscar I, though sympathetic to Denmark, did not want Sweden to get involved in a war. The troops therefore stayed on Fyn, where there never was any fighting throughout the war.
