Agreed! I wanted to see the difference between a 5.5 and 6 inch to see if the 6 inch was adding bulk but Viltrox has made a compelling case and this monitor hits the sweet spot. I would definitely get it. Thanks mate, great review!
@watzmaaname only a pleasure and glad I could help. Biggest issue I see with videographers is they contemplate a big monitor and they always go for 5.5 inch and it’s just too small.
For me you are one of the top UA-camrs talking about video gear. I'm always astonished discovering how few subscribers you actually have. Can't understand it. Good luck.
Dude, are your videos being hidden by the algorithm or something? You consistently make some of the most well produced camera-related videos on UA-cam, and somehow this video only has 236 views????? Should be in the thousands at least! Keep up the great work man! I always enjoy your videos!
Man I appreciate this comment so much. But what really keeps me going is producing cool content that people enjoy, and comments like yours just fuels that excitement to deliver better and better. Appreciate it so much!
Great video and I purchased this monitor so I could teach my son photography. I only needed some way for him to see what I saw through the viewfinder. I had just started back with photography after a bit of a layoff with work and homelife and this thing is a gamechanger for teaching about taking photos. Subbed.
Great video! Just one question! At 08:30 talking about menu, you can adjust wb, contrast, saturation etc. These adjustments refer to the image we see on the screeen and not the image that is captured by the camera, right?
I came across the video while researching about this monitor. but as a bonus I also got to know it can be properly mounted on the zhiyun Crane 4 which I own. Would like to know about the v mount holding side handle on the rig
Thank you! I’m a major Osee fan and absolutely love the brand. But personally I have to admit that I’d pick the Viltrox over the Lilmon. I prefer the larger size, it’s 2000 nits, so a lot brighter than the Lilmon, I also prefer the monitor mount attachment over the Lilmons side attachment.
Thanks for the great review, watched some but this was the best. I had a question regarding sharpness, how is it when pulling focus? On their website they don't say but on B&H it says 360 pixels per inch. That seems really low for a 6inch monitor and from the specs only it would make it not sharp enough to pull focus. What's your experience? Thanks.
Thank you so much for the kind words. Really glad you enjoyed it. Honestly I usually pull focus on my 7 inch monitor which is also 1920 x 1080 making the ppi even less. There’s more than enough pixels to pull focus. Actually on a shoot right now pulling focus with it alongside my Osee T7 on the handheld rig and Viltrox on the gimbal rig.
@@RICH_Photography okay perfect, thank you for the answer. I wasn't sure if the extra weight was worth it. I'll place my order right away, unfortunately your code doesn't work in Germany :(
@Marvnz you’re welcome, definitely worth it. You won’t regret it. It’s ok, at the end of the day, you’re getting a product that you’ll enjoy, that means far more than any 1-2% commission a creator can get 👌
The only thing missing from this video is, the average usage time of this monitor on the included NPF battery. Can you or anyone tell us how long the included batter on a full charge, can power the monitor with average use? Thank you.
I checked and this monitor can receive up to 4k 30fps. What happens if I'm recording 4K 60 fps on my camera? Blank screen or it will downsample to 30fps?
With most cameras you can record say 4K 60p and you can set your output to even 4k 30p To be honest, not sure what my output on my GH5s was set on and recorded a whole project at 4k 60p. To be 100% honest it may automatically downscale it but if not you can set this on your camera.
Hey, great video! I'm thinking about purchasing the monitor but I can't find a few stats online. If you use 3D LUT imported in to the monitor does it stream the LUT from the HDMI out and the other is if de-squeeze from the monitor again does it stream it from the HDMI out de-squeezed.
The HDMI out doesn’t show any LUTs or any settings. I checked on the HDMI out even on the Osee monitor does the same. There’s no settings to change this but it seems no monitor duplicates the settings to the HDMI out.
I'm a fellow Lumix user and I need a way to punch in while focusing manually. The pinching gesture is too complicated, ideally I only need a ZOOM touch button somewhere at the bottom of the screen, so I can activate it effortlessly with one finger of my right hand, holding the top handle of my camera rig. Can I do it with this camera? Thanks in advance
I didnt find a simple way on this monitor, the Osee T7 monitor does have a little joystick that if you push it up (I think from memory)punches in 2x or more.
Does this model have touch focus or camera controls such as shutter/iso/aperture/etc ? Would you pick this or the Atomos Shinobi II? I have PortKeys LH7P/LH5P II and Osee T7 in mind too!
It doesn’t have camera control, only some of the Port Keys do as far as I’m aware. I love my Osee T7, been using mine for years, colours, everything is amazing. If you want the larger 7 inch, extra brightness and a little more price, go for the Osee. If you looking for a slightly smaller monitor and to save some money, then the Viltrox is currently the way to go. Wouldn’t go for the Atomos Shinobi, too small, only 1500 nits brightness as opposed to 2000 on this and 3000 on the Osee.
If it works.. Mine (as well as a few others that have commented on different videos) got really hot-really fast (within minutes). Fan set to auto and it ran on high constantly. After 5 minutes or so none of the button or touch screen would work. Had to pull the battery to turn it off. So it seems QA is questionable at best to me. Buyer beware.
This is the only video that compared the different screen sizes. That is so helpful.
You’re so welcome 🙏 really glad I could help and thank you so much for the support on the channel, means so much to me 🙌

Man this is such an uplifting comment, thank you so much! Means a lot to me!
The value propition here from Viltrox is IMMENSE. Great review of what looks to be a fantastic, full featured and impressive value monitor!
Couldn’t agree more!

I just got the DCX3 on flash sale for 150 usd! Can't wait for it to arrive
Hey! Sure it has arrived by now, are you enjoying it?
Really good video.
Thank you. I appreciate it 🙏
Could you please let me know the additions to your gimbal setup there, that allow you to mount the Monitor to it?
Great video! Just one question! At 08:30 talking about menu, you can adjust wb, contrast, saturation etc. These adjustments refer to the image we see on the screeen and not the image that is captured by the camera, right?
Thank you! Yes you are correct. This does not affect the video recorded on camera.

great video! Do you recommend this monitor or Osee Lilmon 5? They're pretty much the same price where I'm at.
Thank you! I’m a major Osee fan and absolutely love the brand.

Hey Rich, can't seem to find it online, I guess it's not in SA yet?
Hey Michael, yeah I believe the launch seems to be a little delayed. Not sure why….ill comment back when I get an available link.
Looks great. Is it possible to control the camera settings on it? If yes that would be the perfect option for me.
No you cannot, unfortunately there’s only 1 or 2 brands that can do that but you won’t be paying that price unfortunately.
I Wonder why the Aspect Ratio is only 1.35:1 and not 1.39:1 or 1.4:1 or 2:1
Would you recommend the dc-550 pro or the dc x2 ? There is no comparision out right now and I want to pick one up :)
Hands down DC X2, extra half inch on screen size and the extra 800 nits of brightness is a no brainer.

Did you record this video In 10bit?
Yes it would be 10bit 4K on the GH6

I’ve used mine so many times and never had an issue. Is yours thr SDI version, I wonder if this issue is isolated to only some devices.
