This song signifies ‘opening up’ of Indian mindset. In 90s and 2000s Indian economy was showing signs of growth, lot of foreign influences came in, talent started to show up with a lot of avenues like Indi-pop. That’s when we watched and listened to these songs on new cable TV channels and FM radio. New Internet cafes were coming up during that time. Fun times of change and new brand of music made this memorable
You guys should explore more of Shaan's work and then try to interview him. Trust me, it'll be a lot of fun. Shaan is one of the sweetest persons out there!
Shaan, Lucky Ali, Palash Sen and others are just Legends, the OG's of indian pop music. Tanha Dil is not just a song, it's a feeling, it's a mood, it's an emotion. Just amazing!
Feeling nostalgic...Shaan's voice is soothing and unique...it's sad that singers like Shaan,Sonu Nigam and KK are not singing much for movies...but these people are really talented
Coming of age and the sadness and maturity it brings. Leaving your city, friends, country, family and in a way, your identity behind. Something a lot of Indian kids went and still go through for the sake of better education, better opportunities and better life. The song talks about the loneliness of that journey.
This song can never get old irrespective of the changing generation. Will always be relatable to everyone. And Shaan.. always had this youthful, fresh Voice and was a brilliant singer. He was no lesser than Sonu Nigam and had his fair share of popularity and following over the years. The song basically is coming of age.. when people have to leave behind friends, teachers to make a mark in life but still somehow are reminded time and again about them like sweet memories.
agree with your thoughts except for your use of past tense....Shaan is still very much with us, and still singing (though mainly in reality shows and not as prolific as before)
This is nostalgia for every 90s kid. General idea is, you know and love this song, you're most probably a 90s kid haha! Reminds me of School picnics, long Antakshari bus tours to the destination, all of us in school uniform, my first crush, no phones, more interaction between friends. Good days.
I call this song the time machine to 90s. That was a really wonderful time when tech didnot take over. Days used to be longer and lots of time to play actual sports and games 😂. Edit: ironically the song is about nostalgia and it itself became nostalgia for a whole generation. 😂
This song is my childhood. It still has the essence of by childhood memories. This song gives me such calm mental peace💜. Will always remain my favorite.
I just sobbed again for 20248383th time after listening to this song...😭❤ Shaan is my first crush and the first person who introduced to the concept called Music videos/albums..it just gives me chills all the time..those days..those people..it will never be the same again 💔
Makes me smile every time I hear this song. I still had couple of years from being graduated from school when this song first came out but the music, the lyrics spoke to me, and since then it has been one of my all time favourites and Shaan my all time favourite singer. And you are correct, it feels like a graduation song but also a song that encapsulates how life can be and sometimes is...walking by ourselves, with only our memories to accompany us - good and bad.
Its like summer of 69 vibe for indians when we listen to this song... immersed in emotions of past life and esp young college life times when we had dreams ..
For kids who grew up in 90's this was the best era from mid 90's to early 2000 when Indi-pop was at its peak and I am glad to be a part of that era. Btw guys, Ram Sampath is the most underrated composer. You should listen to more of his stuff
When I listened to this song I was starting my journey... after lots of years ( and many failures ) I understand the meaning of the video... so many known faces those who made us are no more... we are almost alone in this journey....
Suggestion: KK's rendition of Alvida from Life in a Metro. It is one of his songs which showcases his higher range. His belts in that song are just great
This is such a great song from shaan! Of course there are many other songs sung by him which are great too, but this song is very, very close to my heart. As might be the case with many other 90's kids of India. It especially reminds us of our college days, and teenage years.... Shaan is and has always been a legendary singer. After all I believe a singer earns the title 'legendary' mainly because of his/her ability to deeply connect with their audiences, that deep emotional connect through their songs.... And shaan has sung many such awesome songs that connect straight with your heart!
Two huge Shaan songs which you have not done yet are "Chand Sifarish" from Fanaa and the the title track of Om Shanti Om. You've heard him in 3 Idiots and PK, and you've reacted to "Jab se Tere Naina" from Saawariya, and "Deewangi Deewangi" from Om Shanti Om twice.
Nostalgic song for all Indians - specially the Kids from 90s. This is when the original Hindi pop rocked and ruled the charts. Glad I was part of this era. My parents tell me I've been singing since I was 6 months old, but this song I vividly remember I happened to hum in my kindergarten class and my teacher loved it so much that she made me sing it to the other kids during recess. Ahh, nostalgia. P.S. I ended up being a lead singer for my school choir and college music fests as well. Thank you Shaan!
I love Shaan...his voice is the best - even Sonu Nigam said he wished he had Shawn's voice..but he's also humble and always smiling. This one and KK's Purani Jeans are the most iconic pop songs ever (both from the early 2000s)
To give you a context, the song is about a guy who has left his home and set for a new journey of life. As he sets foot forward, he is also embroiled in memories from his past
One of the best track about Self Redemption and Uncharted Solitude Journey. It reminds me of a similar song- Mr. Mister -"Broken Wings". Kudos to Shaan for rendering his wonderful voice.
I'm 90s kid and I still love this song even its new version on men's mental health one thing about this singer is that his voice never grew older its still same ( young)
A huge change happened in Indian music between 1995 to 2005. Before that indipendent pop music was not popular. Songs meant classical love songs in movies. But in that period independent artists came up and made songs outside of movies using modern instruments and different sound
90s indipop music was so melodious, there are so many artists from that era.. Nothing even comes close to that in today's music.. Pop faded and declined because bollywood won't let independent music to come up. I'm sure there are many talented people even today but somehow the magic of 90s can't seem to be recreated.. Sonu nigam's ab mujhe raat din, subha mudgals ab ke saavan, lucky alis songs and so so so much more..also back then, they cared about the lyrics, not the Tony kakkar crap we get today. Again, thank you😊 for reacting to this gem, I almost forgot about this song. Still remember buying the cassette for this one and hearing this on loop, rewinding again and again.. Thank u guys😊
My favorite song.. N I liked shaan instantly as soon as I heard his voice. I used to listen his songs and enjoyed the funny chemistry between him and his sister very much. 🙂
Thank you OSR for reacting on this Beautiful Song.! this song shows the journey of a School/ College student through out his life ..! His Friends, Carrier, it's all mentioned in just one Song ..!
