Thank yo for review, mine arrives next Tuesday been waiting a couple of months due to the Covid 19. I'm in the UK , it comes from Germany. I'm so excited.
How is the durability of this boat. Is it very much likely to get punctures on it? How does usually a boat like this get punctured? Is it ok to use its own floor or do you really need that plywood floor? Can it hold three adults and two children? Please let me know. Thanks
Hey Hogan family, thank you for the great video and I hope this message finds you all doing very well. I'm going to follow your lead on customizing the intex 5 with a carpeted wood floor and motor but I'd need to hire someone to do the wood floor. I have a few questions if you have the time: 1) would the flooring work if it were constructed in two pieces, I'd be using public transportation and Uber to get to the water, and one big piece wouldn't work. 2) would you have a video of how you measured the bottom of the boat or do you have those measurements, this way I could just have Inman Square Hardware cut and carpet the piece for me. Thank you
I definitely need to make the floor for mine I have the same one I don’t remember seeing that plastic piece to measure the air I also got a motor and mount mine moves now
The floor changes the entire feel and stability of the boat for the better. Also, the motor is a must. I got stuck on a windy lake paddling for hours. A motor moves this thing way better. Thanks for watching!
How difficult is it to deflate and fold back into the bag and box? I am going to Bora Bora and bringing this. I want to inflate it, make a custom canopy then deflate it and pack for trip. Nice setup by the way.
Our pump that we have sucks the air out too. So when we go to fold it up it is completely flat. Doing it that way makes it really easy. Thanks for the positive feedback and thanks for watching!
Thank you. Well made video. I would have liked if you had said what thickness the plywood you used was & the type of trolling motor, battery kind/type etc. you used. I thought your boat was moving along well on the water-that's great! I want to get the excursion 5 as well & set it up similarly as you did! 👍
Wow, that boat is really moving with your trolling motor. Which model did you get, and how many HP is it? Impressed by the power, hopefully the battery lasts a decent amount of time.
Thanks I really appreciate this. I’m a fly fisherman who is just getting into boating. I picked this excursion 5 up used and am looking to make some modifications as well. I like your idea for the floor. What do you do for seating once the floor is in the boat? I appreciate the help!
Hey Sir I just bought one for me n wife, with the deep cycle battery roughly how long does it last, if you're just in low thrust?? Thanks awesome video it help
Hi! Thanks for watching! We have a Minn Kota that has 50 lbs of thrust, but we started with a Minn Kota with 27 lbs of thrust. Both perform great with this boat. We were actually thinking of making a video showing our setup process. We will do our best to make that happen.
good video, I wasn't sure about this model boat but the question I have was about the size trolling motor and battery and can this size motor be used: 2 Stroke 3HP Outboard Motor Boat Motor 52CC Boat Engine W/Air Cooling
Thanks! I have seen people who put small gas motors on them like that. My buddy has one that I want to get running to try it out. What I can say is that I do notice a difference in how the material is on a really hot day. It does give alot more and the motor mount drooped a bit more. There are a couple extra holes on the actual Intex brand mount to adjust for this. There are also DIY videos that people have made that show you how to extend the mount arms to make the mount alot more rigid. Thanks for watching!
I had the pipe insulation wrapping around the carpet and even with glue, the insulation came loose when the floor was being put in and taken out of the raft. I see that you wrapped the carpet around the insulation instead. Great idea that would solve my problem. Did you staple the carpet onto the plywood?
We figured it would all hold in place better if the carpet wrapped over it all. No staples, just bought strong spray glue from Menards. It does take some patience waiting on the glue to get tacky, but when it does it holds everything in place well. I believe the can said it was water resistant as well. Thanks for watching!
Hey there! I just bought this boat and trolling motor. Trying to customize my boat to get to cool places for day swimming on a lily pad. I’m just realizing that it is probably going to be difficult to get in and out of the boat. Have you tried it that way? Any tips?
Great video and congrats for the boat. I have got to ask 2 questions here. 1. Can a trolling motor be used for ocean going? If yes then how much power is good enough? Or an engine motor should be used? Ur recommendations for taking it to sea or ocean? 2. Can this boat be taken to ocean / sea in the first place? Thanks
I did see one video on youtube where they were using one in the ocean, but I personally don't think I would feel safe doing it. I have actually never been in an ocean so not sure how a trolling motor would handle it. Sorry, I wish I could actually answer your question. Thanks for watching!
A trolling motor int he ocean would definitely not be safe... you wouldn't have enough power to overcome even a riptide and would get carried out to sea.
It's really easy with the electric pump I have. It sucks the air out all the way, so I just fold it twice long ways and roll it up and it goes right back in the bag easy.
Hogan Family Fishing okay so I have and electric pump as well so you are saying that it also blows air into the boat as well as suck the air out? If so which setting am I using to suck air out
I think that may vary from state to state, but in Illinois you have to have it registered if you put any motor on it. If you are strictly using the oars, you don't. Well, here you don't. Thanks for watching!
We haven't experienced any air loss, but we were out on a super hot sunny day and the material gets really soft went its hot. It still holds the air well. Thanks for watching!
We usually do just sit on the floor or stand, but I did make a couple of seats out of milk crates, but they aren't very comfortable. I made them more for storage than anything.
Amigos es mi primera vez me interesa tener algo parecido a esto me podrian regalar información sobre el motor ????? Cual es bueno y cual es mas conveniente gracias
Hey man i just got one and couldnt find the manuel, the patch, or the clear thing to measure how full it was. I didnt see yours when you unboxed either. Where was it located
Nothing beats the dad and son time spent on this. I'm putting together the same thing with my daughter.
Thanks for the info on this nice boat !! Blessings to you all !!
I just bought this boat for me and my teens lol thank you for your review!

great review. thank you for doing it from a family point of view.
You're very welcome! Thanks for watching!
Thanks for sharing man, my bro and I are both thinking about getting one.
You're welcome! Thanks for watching!
Looks like a good boat. 👍
I wonder how a boogie board or body board would do as a floor. Much easier than cutting plywood and safer with no hard edges and corners. Buoyant too.
thanks for the good idea

I just got one my floor 4×8 got cut in half so its easier to transport going to get the carpet and cut out the outline tomorrow
Can you put a ply floor on top of a slatted floor guys. ?
Hey bro, how many mm thick wooden floor did you use please?
hey 👋 well done!
Thank you!
The prices you're mentioning are not what it used to be now its a lot more expensive i guess because of popularity of it but good video thanks
Awesome video!!! Thank you
Thanks man, I just bought one
Cool, let us know how you like it!
@@hoganfamilyfishing7754 it's bigger than I thought.
Yup, the material is stronger than I thought it would be too! Especially for how cheap the price is.

Muito legal parabéns em meu canal tambem utilizo este bote para as pescarias
Ainda tem o bote? Gostou dele?
What if you make the wood floor in three pieces so you can open and install it for tight space
I've seen others do it, but is definitely not as stable. Thanks for watching!
Just found your channel great video my question is does it have to be lake registered?
I think that depends on where you are. Where we are it is only required when you put a motor on it.
Bro I dint got that measuring the gage air boat
What kind of the battery do you used for you telling motor? What size do you recommend? How many ham y what groups?

@@schoc13 we have a minn kota endura trolling motor that we got from a garage sale and picked up a deep cycle battery for like 60 dollars at walmart.

@@charmainejoseph6172 at the very back of the boat. I put a seat we made in front of it.

niice!! hows it holding up? how many times u take it out??
Thanks! We have taken it out about 10 times now and it is still holding up nicely. Thanks for watching!

Intex Quick Fill DC 12V Electric Pump 23.0CFM
www.walmart.com/ip/Intex-Quick-Fill-DC-12V-Electric-Pump-23-0CFM/660539663
This is the one we bought. It has 2 ports. The side port blows air, and the top port sucks air.
Looks great! What kind of trolling motor and mount did you get?.....I just scrolled down the comments. Its a minn kota motor?
Yes, it is a small minn kota. Thanks for watching!
And how long does this motor last? Can it last a whole day of fishing?
How did you feel it handles weight capacity?
It handles weight alot better than we anticipated. Thanks for watching!
What are the dimensions of the floor after sanding and cutting? Length and width?
I showed the measurements I used in the, but think I could've made it a bit bigger. Also the width of the boat tapers toward the front.
Would you sell the floor ?😁
Just bought the same boat. What size trolling motor do you recommend?
We have a minn kota that has 27 lbs of thrust and another that has 50 lbs of thrust. Both get the job done. Thanks for watching!
What battery did you buy for your trolling motor and how much does the battery weigh?
Not sure how much the battery weighs, but we got it from Walmart. It's a deep cycle battery and it cost us around 50 dollars. Thanks for watching!
How did you attach the carpet to the wood? I’m doing 100% the sam thing as you, curious how you did it.
A can of heavy duty spray adhesive. We bought the strongest one that we could find at the hardware store.
@@hoganfamilyfishing7754 thanks!
Please tell me about the price of it, i want to buy it
Our whole set up was a little under $200. That was with me shopping around for the best prices on things. Thanks for watching!
I have a? I just bought one the same exact one I live and Maryland and I want to put a motor on it do I have to get it registered??
Depends where your using it, public or private
Hey bro, how many mm thick is your wooden floor please?
We used 3/4 inch plywood
Do you need a boat license/registration if you place a trolling motor on it?
I think that may vary from state to state, but in Illinois you have to have it registered if you put any motor on it. If you are strictly using the oars, you don't. Well, here you don't. Thanks for watching!
How much did the whole set up cost bro?
Does the boat lose air while your on the water
We haven't experienced any air loss, but we were out on a super hot sunny day and the material gets really soft went its hot. It still holds the air well. Thanks for watching!
Hi about how much did you pay for the boat? I’m trying to decide if I should get it now or wait a bit for it to go down on Amazon
In amorzon it's expensive though.
Yo bro how long does it take you to fold the boat back up?
Just a few minutes. I couldn't imagine using only the included pump, so I bought an electric pump that plugs into my truck.
How much exactly is this? Its good!
It was under $200 for our set up. We like it! Thanks for watching!
Hw much is the trolling motor
did you both just sit on the boats floor ? or did you have any kinds of seats? if so, what kind. thanks
We usually do just sit on the floor or stand, but I did make a couple of seats out of milk crates, but they aren't very comfortable. I made them more for storage than anything.
What motor are you using?
In this video we were using a Minn Kota 27 lbs thrust motor, but we have upgraded to a Minn Kota Endura C2 with 50 pounds of thrust. Both do fine.
Amigos es mi primera vez me interesa tener algo parecido a esto me podrian regalar información sobre el motor ????? Cual es bueno y cual es mas conveniente gracias
Minn kota 27lbs or 50 lbs, gracias!
The boat costs a lot more on Amazon now
How this worth
My set up has cost me $580 total so far
Camera job is horrendous
$25 for trolling motor? I bought one that is over $200.... nice video thanks!
Thanks!
I think he meant the motor mount is $25 not the actual trolling motor
Hey man i just got one and couldnt find the manuel, the patch, or the clear thing to measure how full it was. I didnt see yours when you unboxed either. Where was it located
Ours was in with the instructions. You need that to not over inflate the boat. I would contact Intex if you didn't get one. Thanks for watching!
