I bought this awhile ago. It works well and the third party batteries work fine except I don't think they do 4k 60fps wirh hypersmooth or something like that where GoPro changed the hero 8 battery slightly
It depends on the battery, in my case I didn't buy the batteries with this kit. In theory in certain 4K/60 Boost modes there's a chance that stabilization won't be as good. I haven't found that to be the case yet.

Did you mean they go bad pretty early or they run out of charge? The battery that came with my GoPro 7 Black started to where it would only have 20% charge left after charging all night for my ride the next day. Ended up buying 2 new GoPro batteries for it. Just curious if the GoPro batteries are known to go bad early after purchase!

Subscribed and liked. Ordered too. I have 2 questions if you don't mind. 1. I accidentally pulled out the door from the GoPro 8 but I managed to put it back, is it still waterproof? 2. Is 3 batteries 1 64 gb micro SD enough if I ski for a day (9 hours tops) in high(4k@60fps/2.7k@120 settings).
Quick tip from a tech nerd, if the tip inside the USB-A connector is NOT blue, then it's only USB 2.0 speed, which is why that one cable you said was "super crappy" at 22 minutes. USB 3.0 will have a blue connector on both ends (the cable, AND the port you are plugging it into). I don't know if that helps, but the super crappy one was so slow because USB 2.0 maxes out at 480Mbps instead of USB 3.0 which has a theoretical max speed of 5Gbps. Did you test it with USB-C on both ends, or were all of your tests done with USB-C to USB-A cables? I'm curious how a USB-C to USB-C cable would rate in that comparrison?
I would much rather bring this with me when I travel then the gopro charger, BUT- Quick question @DC Rainmaker -when you insert the batteries and close the cap, does the cap hold the batteries in place so if there's vibration they wont pop out? Also, does it fit in the back of Jersey pockets well? Thanks
it would be nice if the cable stuck into a recessed port where the hole sticks out an inch to prevent a stress point when it’s in your bag. or even have the port at the top along with the loop and the top slightly elongated like a teardrop to avoid the cable connected area from getting bent.

Cool kit, IP54 ..shame it's not a bit more waterproof, but looks promising under the tap. Grit & Sand proof is good idea. Sadly no Osmo Action one yet it seems...on Amazon.

i got 3m long usb cable and curled it (if that is the right way to say it/the right word) and run that of my helmet and my chest to a bacpack to charche them without a batterie and run them from a powerbank (more efficient because during skiing its cold [makes sense] and i have a hand warmer before getting there in ym backpack and it its veryy well isolatet so the powerbank is so nice and warm that it isnt loosing capacity)
This is a great product, but it is NOT waterproof. It's barely water resistant. Plug it in, and you'll see that blue light from the battery compartment; now shut the lid and turn off the lights in the room. That blue light is CLEARLY visible through the lid seal even though the lid is clicked shut. In the sink, if the water is coming straight down like you have in the video it should be ok. But try turning it even close to 90 degrees and mine would be waterlogged. So I use mine just knowing it's water resistant, not water proof. Great vid, thanks!

Have you maybe considered that the reason why you go through so many batteries is because you don't use the official ones? I bought the GoPro4 at launch together with some cheap 3rd party batteries at the same time. Original battery still going strong while the cheap knock-offs have long since died. It might actually be cheaper to buy and stick to the originals.
There’s nothing wrong with the batteries. By ‘go through’, I mean that when I’m out doing a shoot for something, I’m running 2-3 cameras at once a true highest settings, often for many hours. So, I need a lot of batteries.

I use original and telesin interchangeably and the originals give me 0 issues at all. Not making any assumptions but just my personal experience (:
I charged the telesin battery until it was full, i used the my gopro until the ither battery died. The one i charged died before i could even put it in my gopro...

I am looking for a less expensive charger for hero 10. From comments on Amazon several report they off brand one work for a while then the get error msg something to the effect it can't be used because it's not a genuine GoPro product. Yup, I like Wasabi GoPro batteries, and PowerExtra ones without any issues. And most of the 2-3 pack kits actually come with chargers for basically free. For example, this one: amzn.to/2LTLvw9 - I use that one all the time. I have 2-3 of them at the studio, and another one in my bag for travel, and one at home just in case. :)
Yup, agree! Even a 5,000mAh battery would get basically 3-4 charges, or effectively 6 batteries worth assuming you went through the first set and needed to recharge again.

An important factor you forgot to mention is...Hero 4 and older can only
be plugged into a 1.0 AMP port to charge or use for external power.

Yup! There a clicking latch and lock, which you have to press the button on the front to unlock. Totally forgot to mention that!

Sounds like you do have issues with 3rd party batteries if they're dying all the time.

No issues with batteries individually, I was simply noting that I go through so many batteries because I’m shooting for hours on so many cameras.

Yup, just to transfer files. Generally speaking the files transfer much faster with an SD card reader than otherwise.
