Hey yo the whole ending segment was about me 😂😭😭 it's an honor 🎖 yall are going to be super big and famous one day and all us classy chappies we'll say "we seen them first"
Great show chaps! I have played Metro and Spacial Ops this week. Metro left me underwhelmed and Spacial Ops left me....whelmed? The problem I had with Metro is, well, I have played Red Matter 2, Arizona Sunshine Remake and Batman. Out of the box, I didn't think Metro looked good. There is a strange flickering, most obvious on the opening text and menu screen when I move my head slightly, but it was also present in my peripheral view in the actual game. It could be FFR or ASW. It really bothered me. I tried to tweak it with Quest Games Optimizer but it just made it drop frames. The trouble is, if the problem that I am seeing is caused by an issue with ASW, I can't fix it with Quest Games Optimizer. The game is actually running at 36 fps upscaled with ASW, so tweaking the frame rate in Quest Games Optimizer will not help. Also, the ASW technique is apparently embedded deep into the game architecture, so it would be a big deal to fix with a Quest 3 enhancement, therefore unlikely. My only option is to play the PC version, but I can't, so I returned it. Spacial Ops. Cool idea, but meh.
Metro was pretty good until just after chapter 6 imho. While the storyline explains and justifies the reuse of assets and locations, the EXPERIENCE didn't. Too formulaic with the gun cart on tracks. Too linear with lvl design. Beginning in hindsight felt like a bait and switch in terms of apparent interaction. The non human enemies not varied enough. Baby rat mole and daddy rat mole. Oh, and the spiders. The large ones, if you got the jump on them, seemed to be protected by plot armour, as you often couldn't shoot them until their animation was triggered. Weapon variety was OK, although I ended up using the AK for 85% of kills I'm sure. The ghosts you had to sneak past slowed down the pace, and was a bit trial / die / oh try this way next time.
Really enjoyed your podcast.I was not interested in dig vr but after hearing your thoughts on it i think i might give it try after i finish metro which i am getting tommorrow.
Abother good episode. I am split 50/50 on pronouncing it D.O.F and "dof" but I'll admit "D.O.F" feels more correct, just like URL and LEDs. You guys mentioned the needed physicality in Dig. I think the game that excelled at that was Tentacular. They really made you feel like you were lifting heavy stuff with your tentacles somehow.
6 D O F yall need bigger squares, perhaps just a split screen. Omar's tv personality has improved vastly 😂 goodjob, ep1 I thought he wasint cut out for this and now you look like pro!! Just gotta stop interrupting robin, One mic boys.
@@peteaustin5472 Thank you for the current episode. Thanks to this, I bought Spatial Ops after the disappointing Exocars and am very impressed. The entire game reminds me a lot of a Time Crisis or Under Cover, even though it is much shorter, the changing dimensional gates provide more excitement. It is also ideal for a short, quick game. I also share the view that a game shouldn't throw you back into the action quickly enough. A personal recommendation for a good FPS multiplayer is Vail. I'm a big fan of Zero Caliber 2, but Vail seems much cleaner. Looking forward to next week!
Omega pilot was fantastic but exoooooooo dear cars..noooooo 😂😂.... starship troopers was basically crashland if u bought in on temu ...u missed nothing (crashland was one of my fav games and reviews by u guys back in the day 😊)
In fairness I should have mentioned that I thought that Eurogamer review was well written and it did seem like it came from a place of familiarity with the medium
So brought and completed Metro - paid £29. I think Omar did the review, and scored it highly, where as on the podcast, Pete and Doc where less positive..? Do you all play a game, and combine scores / make an average, or simply whoever is assigned the game, records the footage and assigns a score?? Up to chapter 6, I'd have given it a 9/10. After that, I'd say it lost 0.5 pointers per chapter, so overall 6/10. I'll remember it most positively for a firefighter in which I think you are supposed to use a cannon machine gun in a warehouse, but I chose to ignore it and just go with what I had. Quite simply the most exhilarating combat experience I've had in VR. That aside, while the story is ok, it leans too much into the psychological / supernatural in the later half. Overall a bit of a squandered opportunity, and once again incredibly overhyped by the VR YT reviewing community.
Its intreasting to see what makes ppl sick in vr,ive never had a problem with racing or any cockpit at all. Also i do all turning in real life standing. I never use the right stick. 😂Right Stick Get Sick😂

I'm watching Dig VR review. In future please lower the volume of background videos :)
Xocus made the Omega Pilot game. They improved that over time so I can see them doing the same with Exocars.
Ep.6: the one when Bruce Banner and Charles Xavier argue about who is the better Batman.😂
D-O-F btw. just like S-N-E-S.
Hahahaha

Regarding Eurogamer's Metro review, it was by Ian Highton, experienced VR enthusiast :)
You should have read praises from my comment too :D
In fairness I should have mentioned that I thought that Eurogamer review was well written and it did seem like it came from a place of familiarity with the medium
Oh, and I most definitely caught your praise, just didn’t want to bask in it too overtly
@@peteaustin5472 I speciffically wrote it for you to bask in :)
