2 Star Gem like Fervent Fang, Mothers Lament, and Pain Clasp are definitely S Tier, the effect is better than most of 5 Star Gem. For low spender, its worth to try lv your Blood Soaked Jade, Bottle Hope, Seeping Bile, and new StarFire to rank 2 or 3 cuz the effect is strong. But gems like Howlers Call & Echoing Shade are only powerful when u rank them up to rank 7, when u get the full legendary effect to be effective - longer stun or unlock third clones.
I recommend to all new players to not use 5 star gems until they max out all their 1 and 2 star gems. Maxing a 5 star is impossible for everyone except whales.
If you check the table in the video a rank 4- 3/5 star gem which is realistically possible to get even for f2p players is easier to upgrade that a rank 10 2 star gem since a rank 10 2 star gem needs 685 gem power and a rank 4 3 star gem needs only 225. a rank 10 2 star will give you a max 300 reso that's the limit. While a rank 4 - 3 star gem will give 320 reso with the possibility to upgrade in the future. When I say possibility to upgrade in the future Im talking about both the rank and the star quality. That is just my opinion base on how I understood the video.
@3102nzain At early stages, you can indeed get more resonance per gem power with a 5 star gem, but the thing here is that resonance is not the best thing for you. While that rank4 5 star gem may only only cost 225 gem power, just 2 ranks higher cost a total of 850 putting you 165 gem power over the cost of a rank10 2star. Thats not even taking into consideration the platinum cost of the 13 duplicates of a 5 star gem to get there either. A 5 star gem will indeed have more potential for future growth, but you don't have to start big. Work on 1 and 2 star gems first, and then they can always be used as gem power later to rank up a 5 star.
Echoing Shade is actually a type of multiplier since your clones do matching base damage at the least plus you can buff them. Howlers and Phoenix though arent very good now. Should have kept the hope and grab the new starfire which is a monster
Interesting video! Another question, would it be better to invest in RESONANCE or SECONDARY STATS like armor, damage, armor pen., potency, resistance? I have 1,330 res and low secondary stats
Echoing shade in a DH is essential.. as long as you have it ranked 5 and have 2 clones minimum they shoot anlot and do a ton of dmg actually. Maybe on a Barb it’s bad but range chars it works insanely good.
My current load out is 4 1* LV10 2 2* LV10 and 2 5* R4 LV3. But I started with 6 LV10 1* gems. My 2 2* LV10 is pain clasp and mother’s lament. My 5* is echoing shade and chip of stone.
Awesome vid, I started playing pretty recently and gems have been confusing. Anyone have any advice for gems to use for Nexromancer? Both 1-2 stars and the 5 star legendarys
It would help to know how much extra resonance can be gained after awakening legendary gear for each 1/2/5 gem type and also whay gems are needed to. Or is there a source where that information can be found?
This is like end-end-game content. Until you have all your gems ranked up where you want them to be, it's just not worth it to put extra gem power/resonance into your other rank10s. A 1 star gem gets 2 slots in it for 2 more 1 star gems. Get 1 extra resonance per rank on these. So at most, you can rank these 2 up to 10 as well and only gain 20 resonance from it. The original gem cost 196 gem power and 5 dupes to get 150 resonance, while the extra 2 combined costs 392 gem power and 10 dupes for a total of 20 resonance. The 2 gems needed vary for each different gem and that can be found online. But again, it's a horrible waste of your gem power. 2star and 5 star even worse.
Pain Clasp should be your priority for just about any class that is low spenders/f2p. It not only triggers from your burn/poison/dot but it also triggers if any of your allies use burn/poison/dot on the enemies.
@@DeeDee-bm9hr Yes I have mine to rank 8 about t be 9 but it’s only good if you have other 1 and 2 star gems ranked up to at least 5. I would not rank a mother’s Lament first over something like Pain Clasp, Fang, Bloody Reach if ranged or even Berserker Eye. If you have 5 star gems and want to rank ML to boos their damage then sure that works also.
Ditch all situational gems for ones that can be activated more often than not in multiple game modes and across multiple classes too berserkers, torment, pain clasp mothers lament bottled hope seeping bile BSJ
Clones do more damage after bottle hop e procs. Get rid of howler and pheonix, I’d just get pain clasp and bottled hope though..tbh if you have decent money to spend I’d get stars 3/5-4/5 and rank then to 4-5 and simultaneously have the two stars you want at rank 10. Great video. You covered a lot questions I had. Do you know if Ironbane effect stacks along with legendary gear effects such as Chest Five fresh claws and legs Scalesunder? It would all accumulate to 33% increased dmg at rank 10. Or is there some limit to armor shredding?
Yes to the armor break stacking. As long as they're coming from different debuffs, each applies separately. Can throw the new skill Sunder in there too for 30% more as well. It's no different than stacking multiple damage multipliers on yourself. They all boost damage%, but each different buff applies separately. This only won't work if say you have 2 barbs in same party and both use Sunder for example. It doesn't stack to 60% because it's the same debuff. Only the duration will be refreshed when the 2nd one is used.
Ahh yes good call on Sunder..forgot about that! Will have to try it. I've been using something I call "The Butcher's Build" with Cleave as the main skill focus. Great for dungeons to quickly kill bosses, tight mobs, and elites. The main pieces consist of lurkers last chance main, flesh splitter secondary, bloodguzzle shoulders with 4 piece Seeds of Sown Gold, and two piece Flagellant with a lvl 10 trickshot awakened main. Then I add 5 fresh claws, lasting hate, bitterwind, and sundered legacy for the whirlwind/burn combo. I would be very curious to see the crazy dmg your nicely built Barb would do while channeling Cleave and more so when the 4 piece Seeds procs for 30% total. When channeling ends, it would be a massive one hit for you. My mediocre build usually one hits for about 400k with help from critical chance modifiers and if a Sader is on the team, it's been over 600k. Whirlwind hits for about half that. With trickshot being at lvl 10, I almost never have to use primary attack alternating between Whirlwind and Cleave. I can weave and cleave all day! The major tradeoff is the lack of mobility when channeling Cleave. That's annoying but for the most part, bosses are stationary anyway. Thanks for the reply and happy hunting!
@philguastella9286 yea I gotta mess around with cleave more. I did try the 4 piece seeds set early on in inferno and had my whirlwind even critting for 700k+ on bosses after channeling stopped. Could have kept going even but boss would die before my energy ran out. The cleave sounds fun for sure. I might even take whirlwind out for cleave, instead of trying to use both. Gotta have my leap or sprint in there too for mobility purposes.
Not long honestly. Get that 1500% exp rate up until you're 150 levels behind server. Not hard to gain 100+ lvls a day with this. As you get closer, that % dwindles down but still easily achievable for any daily active player.
I’ve always made use of 1 and two star gems as a part of my build because they add way more utility. 5 stars are good mostly for whales who primarily engage in pvp IMO.
Completely agree here. 1 and 2 star gems actually have strong mechanics behind them that can really make a build great. Most 5 star gems just add an extra little damaging attack. Changes nothing about the build.
I’m a Paragon 831 Wizard using Firestorm / Lightning nova PVE build & Arcane Torrent / Disintegrate PVP build and I have a rank 10 pain clasp awakened, rank 10 power and command awakened, and a rank 10 mothers lament and I do so much damage the gems are awesome.
Necro is the one class I'd say Echoing Shade is useful for that very reason. Clones do indeed count as summons which does actually give you a damage boost through that.
This was a REALLY good video Echo. Helped me a lot. Who would have thought Iron Bane is such a great gem. The more you know! Sorry about your Bottled Hope…. 😢
Yea glad you liked it! I've been really enjoying ironbane in dungeons especially. Sense it's an armor break, not a damage multiplier, it makes your whole party deal more damage too.
I agree with the points to replace the three 5 star gems. Although Ironbane and especially Pain clasp are both very good 2 star gems, I think there are two 5 star gems to consider. I would recommend Blessing of the worthy since it's good for all Melee classes. Well if Echo decides to swap to ranged class again it will not do much but he can absolutely take advantage of this if he wants to play Barb long term. Frozen heart is also a decent defensive 5 star gem. If Echo wants to maintain the same resonance of his character, I would recommend replacing the other two with Blessing of the Worthy and Frozen heart. I was actually surprised that he got rid of Bottled hope in one of his previous videos and I was hoping he could have got rid of the Phoenix Ashes instead.
That really depends on what you like to do in the game too though. Pve or pvp. Absolutely no need for defensive gems in pve. Waste of a gem slot imo to use blessing or frozen heart. Thats more of the same problem he just fixed here. Using a bunch of 5 star gems simply for high reso but ones that don't actually help your damage at all with their effects. And all gem effects are reduced 67% in pvp, so even at the unattainable rank10 for blessing of the worthy that gives 16% damage mitigation, you really only get 5.33% in pvp. 73 dupes and 4450 gem power for a lousy 5%. Why? Furthermore your base damage and life now gets nerfed hard in pvp as well with the new stat compression. Making resonance even less valuable. As an underleveled barb, it won't matter what his gems are in battlegrounds either. Whales or even just daily grinders are gonna walk all over this. I'd rather use like a rank10 pain clasp over a rank10 blessing of the worthy any day even though it could be 700 less reso. It's still more effective.
@@WhyTry321 I'm not saying to recommend those gems for pve or pvp but I suggested those gems for purely resonance if he wants to maintain his resonance. It doesn't matter what the effects are on those gems I suggested but they are decent although not that viable for both pve and pvp.
@TheJomz20 ah but that was part of the discussion in the video here. You don't want 5 star gems just for resonance. These 2 star gems, although less resonance, help your overall damage output more than the extra resonance that a 5 star would give. It's all about the damage multipliers. Your damage on the character stat page will show less with lower reso, but the multipliers you gain from these good 2 star gems far surpass that loss of base damage.
@@WhyTry321 dude I'm not talking about damage multipliers and what gems can benefit Echo's character with the most damage. I'm aware that the guy is recommending him to use these two star gems to do the most damage he can do and I totally understand the point of the video. Damage is not my point here it's to retain Echo's resonance. I'm in a different perspective here. I'm commenting here hoping that Echo might consider to get those gems I suggested to get his resonance back. That's all my point. Not talking about overall damage here. It's just my suggestion if he cares about retaining is resonance. I'm not against the point of switching his gems to 2 star or 1 star gem with damage multipliers since I'm an f2p and I also use 1 star and 2 star gems with damage multipliers as well.
@@TheJomz20 ok but the whole reason resonance is important is because it directly boosts your base damage by .05%. The only point of retaining resonance would be to boost damage. Which as you just agreed, multipliers are more effective in that regard. That's basically the whole topic of the video. Comparing damage from multipliers vs damage from higher resonance. Contradicting your own argument.
Narrowed the gap, sure. But as Lida himself said, the gap created was about 5% with a 3k reso vs a 7k reso. Anyone who tried to beat up on a 7k reso at 2-3k reso knows that those 5% won't be very useful
For the record, I just attempted to upgrade a Rank 4, 4-Star gem to a Rank 5, 4-Star gem. Doing so requires the use of one Rank 1 and two Rank 3 gems. All of the gems I used were 3-Star gems. To my surprise the game *removed a star* from the final Rank 5 gem!!! For me this ‘upgrade’ involved a significant amount of money so I was upset and extremely disappointed to discover that *Legendary Gems can go down in gem quality* when attempting to upgrade a gem's rank. So beware that it is currently risky, even detrimental, to use lower gem quality gems to upgrade the rank of a gem that has a higher gem quality (if you place any value on the gem quality of your Lengendary Gems.)
Is there anyway to determine if this is gonna happen or is it random because I highly doubt that’s the case but if it is then that’s a little concerning…
The thing about power and command though is that it cycles between primary attack and then all other skills. So for like echos whirlwind barb where a primary is rarely used, that means 50% of the time power and command does nothing. And ironbane being an armor break itself actually counts as a different type of damage modifier, opposed to just stacking higher damage%. Its more beneficial to have multiple types of modifiers versus having all your eggs in 1 basket. Not only that, ironbane makes enemies take increased damage from ALL sources. Making it even more useful in a party. Power and command may give you up to 24% dmg increase 50% of the time, whereas ironbane is a constant 15% for you and your 3 allies. The only time ironbane is not in effect is on like a raid boss that stays alive longer than the 6 second duration. Even then though, boss comes out, saders use holy banner, ironbane procs, and you have 4 people dealing a ton of damage. When it procs again 20 seconds later, same thing.
Lol he didn't just ask for advice on air to make content. Actually changing his gems around to see the difference. I would guess we'll see an upcoming video showing the "after".
I got my legendary 5 to level 5 until Magic Find then i stop and focus to S Tier leve 2 Legendary gems for awakening to add mo reso power and unlock gears be smart
It was nice to see another player comment on how most low rank 5* gems are not very useful beyond the resonance they provide. I'm a F2P who has no problem killing 3K+ players in vault PvP or BG with my 1.6k reso because I use mostly high rank 2* and 1* gems that synergize with my skills. I currently use BSJ and Starfire as 5* gems. Throughout my DI career I've crunched rank 3 Echoing shade and rank 4 Seeping Bile (yes you heard that right) because they did nothing useful as F2P.
@Exiled309 I noticed the same in my experience with echoing shade. Even as a dh for awhile. Everything pve dies so fast that by the time thr clones spawn or follow you, everything is dead anyway. The rare occasion they do attack, it's like just a casual 1 single shot here and there. Gem literally feels like just a cosmetic. Make clones just to look cool.
7 total, yes. You can see above that it takes 1 dupe to go from rank2-3, as well as 1 more dupe from 3-4. Add in the 5 to go from 4-5 and there's your 7 dupes in all.
@WhyTry321 oh ok than this is the same why try lol..why they said it's been slow there people leaving? And I tryed what you told me but yet to perfect it. I'll be back. Still doing that thing lol
Oh and if he has several 4/5* at r7 he's not a medium spender, definitely another bracket. Getting 5* to r7 is filthy expensive already. He never said his reso but I'm guessing he's a whale. Ofc there are bigger ones out there, but from what I heard he's a whale.
Echo linked our discord here where I go more into detail and show the math behind it as well. Damage multipliers from 1 and 2 star gems far outweigh the extra resonance from 5 star gems. It WAS only a close comparison in pvp where resonance directly boosts Damage and life but gem effects are reduced 67%, and now they've debunked that too with the stat compression update. Drastically reducing players sheet dmg and life, but multipliers on gems remain at 33% effectiveness.

The game is NOT about where you're going the game is about playing NOW
Mother's Lament and Pain Clasp are currently the best 2* gems in game.
Ugh I just scrapped my 2 mother's lament for fervent fangs
@@Chefrabbitfoot Luckily you can craft them 😅
Narrowed the gap, sure.
So basically up to $16k for to get one 5* gem to rank 10
Power and command over ironbane any day
The thing about power and command though is that it cycles between primary attack and then all other skills.
Dont get bottled hope. I’d focus on the 2 star gems
im newb.
a 3 star leg gem needs 3 star gem to upgrade? can i upgrade it using 2 star?
Sir u will see the difference after u use mothers lament + pain clasp thos two are OP
Stoked for it!
Nice episode
Thanks!
Love my power and command at rank 10 and finally got my fervent fang to 10 as well
Thank u bro lol
Echo really pulled out a pen for this😂😂
Lol he didn't just ask for advice on air to make content. Actually changing his gems around to see the difference. I would guess we'll see an upcoming video showing the "after".
I got my legendary 5 to level 5 until Magic Find then i stop and focus to S Tier leve 2 Legendary gems for awakening to add mo reso power and unlock gears be smart
hello id: zoroo 60(459) how to get that wing i searched a bit they say we need to increase the gem resonance but how I messed up a lot help...
What class are you playing? Echoing Shade is good for DH.
@@Seramics Wizard. The problem I had with it is the images did no substantial damage or anything useful in PvE or even PvP...
Why does WhyTry sound like MadSeason from WoW 👀👀
Feel like I need to go research who MadSeason is now 🤔 😆
@@WhyTry321 hahaha he use to make WoW videos on YT but I'm pretty certain he's retired now. You just sound oddly similar to him bro 🤣🤣
To make a 5 Star gem to rank 5 you need 7 duplicates, not 5
It's 5, but 2 more for rank 3 and 4 respectively. Many charts on the web are wrong, not just for that specific case.
7 total, yes. You can see above that it takes 1 dupe to go from rank2-3, as well as 1 more dupe from 3-4. Add in the 5 to go from 4-5 and there's your 7 dupes in all.
@WhyTry321 did you move server why?
@@leonkon649 nope, still on Arcane Sanctuary
@WhyTry321 oh ok than this is the same why try lol..why they said it's been slow there people leaving? And I tryed what you told me but yet to perfect it. I'll be back. Still doing that thing lol
Oh and if he has several 4/5* at r7 he's not a medium spender, definitely another bracket. Getting 5* to r7 is filthy expensive already. He never said his reso but I'm guessing he's a whale. Ofc there are bigger ones out there, but from what I heard he's a whale.
lets gO!
Not expensive to buy? Maybe not in the U.S. lol This game is the most expensive game I've ever played....for a mobile game...
2 stars are not F2P friendly. 😂 Maybe u can get 2 of them up to level 10 but after that I'll be bored of gone from the game
I hate this p2w system with gems and awakening :(
i am kinda new d4 player so i came here to see if i can know how to get 5 star gem
This is a Diablo Immortal channel guide not a D4 guide
5* gems give u 30GP not 32
Check again bud. It's been 32 gem power since day1.

That's very helpful, thank you!
