Your courses are amazing!!!! Thank you very much!!! I am a physician and I just recovered from COVID and I am determined to know everything that is out there regarding viruses!! God blessed you!
According to Wikipedia Franklin did a lot of work on tobacco viruses and their structure, as well as polio etc. She did a lot of stuff and used a form of Fourier transform or analysis. Sad she died so young.
Thank you for making your lecture available for public, it's make me learning and learning again eventho I'm no longer student or working in this area, but I do love genetic and virology knowledge.
As someone who once worked on characterising geminivirus infection and genome function, I was sad that these tiny particles, and unique structure, were not discussed, and how they cope despite their diminutive capacity, and their large effect on plants, from an economic point of view.
I've done x-ray crystallography. Though, what I've done is you rotate the x-ray sensor, around the outside. With the inside is the sample and the x-ray source. Really impressive and interesting. I have not done this to viruses, however.
I love these 2 comments. I'm "only" 52. My Mother used to have a decoration which had a Pennsylvania Dutch saying: "We get too soon oldt and too late smardt." I grow more curious each passing year and it's so wonderful I don't have to walk to the library to look things up.😁
My Father died on February 1st 2020 of an unknown virus at the time after going to the hospital. he had recovered from a virus and caught another one and died a week later on my Birthday of all days. I told the doctor that I knew he was going to die and that I wouldn't be surprised if he died on my birthday. He was already on the way out after already having Parkinson's and Alzheimer's he was 86. Thanks for the Teachings Doc, 4th video of yours so far and I watched the interview on Lex Freedman as well.
The T number nomenclature is a little vague or misleading here. I think it means the number of structural units, not protein subunits, on each of the 20 faces. This is clear if you consider T=1. Here there are clearly 3 protein subunits on each face giving a total of 60 subunits.
This is fantastic ! The best information about virology available on earth (amd beyond!). I had to walk (listen) to it a few times to understand it all. Thamk You for Your excellent work !!!
Professor Racaniello, in our lab we work with Lentiviral vectors. We call the outer nucleocapsid (a substructure since Lentivirus is enveloped, but which does not interact with the RNA genome) the "capsid", proteins denoted "CA" to differentiate it from the "nucleocapsid" aka "NC" = the inner protein that interacts with RNA genome. Is this incorrect? Are they both technically Nucleocapsids, if so, what would be the proper way to distinguish them? Thanks.
I found that these materials can be obtained like you ask by going for a few years back • Comparative java.lang.String vs StringBuffer you can spend eons determining just how data-typing in Collections occurs trying to do String.toString on what happens only to figure out that data-typing correctly is buried in a non-typed pointer ( spare me there is such a thing ) after $1,800 in books and 18 Month's study I put it all away realizing the overlords control just who does what ~ in this a form of "Who your friends are" degrades effort so $1,800 for a change of 18 words is not at all unheard of ▬ This-an extremely well informed proficient work-I can correct him in that size of DNA he gives actually is better studied via Proton MRI or similar they are Quantum Nuclear effects not the water-bag stuff we think it is After you realize StringBuffer setLength zeros the persistent we yet cannot determine if the OS has shifted something similarly "Globals" in Android may have shifted offset after something beyond the control of userland code
Thank you for making your lectures widely available. They are wonderful and informative.

My mind is blown again and again over the course of this lecture. So good!

In all my 70 years, I never thought I’d enjoy the study of virology and biology, I’m a carpenter

I'd be interested in hearing about these and other plant viruses too
Excellent lecture Vincent. what is the company to make the viral particle model keychain?

This student of yours is a 75 years old Surgaon from India 🇮🇳
I'm 75 too. But electronics engineer. Are we crazy or what?

Passion and wisdom... You have it all.. Thanks for sharing
Ångströms are not Angstroms, there's a reason for putting an o on top of the A, it changes the letter entirely. Å is said like oe in toe.

can you show me the paper demonstrating the existence of a replication competent virus with proper controls adhering to the scientific method. Thanks.
thank you for sharing. I decided to buy one of those key chains as well!
This is fantastic !

The UNiversity of Illiniois is in Champagne-Urbana in Illinois not Indiana, Vincent
Thanks Professor for these lectures. Love the way you insist on nucleocapsids ;) repetition is key!
Loved this lecture. Superb!
Thank you for sharing these lectures. How wonderful.

isn't the Buckyball Carbon molecule a Carbon 60?
Superb lecture! Thank you so much and all the best from Germany.
Does ultrasound break up the virus membrane?
Wow these rna virus have been here before life evolved they fantastic structures thanks Vincent best wishes from Glasgow scotland

Is there a way to get these books without having to rob a local bank?

websites like library genesis may help you.
incredible MAY ALLAH bless you with all his blessings.
Thanks so much sir God you save life
Thx
Such order. It was a math lecture.
