    you'll get better. just keep making noise. feedback loops are what i first did when i got into noise as well but you'll come to find out that they're very unreliable and its very hard to get good original sounds out of them. but the good thing about contact mics is that the possibilities are really endless for what you can amplify. that clip contact mic seems pretty cool though. i pretty much always get my mics from Crank Sturgeon but also sometimes Verdant Weapons. Crank's are better imo because you can get more mids and highs, while with the Verdant Weapons mics, they're alot better for getting lows out of. You can never have too many contact mics though. but yeah dude, just explore the many realms and mediums of noise- junk metal, tape loops, field recordings, circuit bending, synthesizers, noise synths, etc etc. Personally i've been using lots of anti-records and junk metal mixed with other stuff. the possibilities with noise are endless, and new is always best.

      Yeah I agree, it takes a while to learn exactly what is doing what with all your tech and the more you got of it the more dynamics come into play. Contact mics for harsh noise to me are a must, I only have one and I also use a half decent spare microphone I have sitting around. Synths are also a huge part of it with me but I found just with various mic, junk metal, and a decent pedal set up, and a mixer you have all you need. Synths are really useful for introducing all kinds of tones and melody into it at will and have direct control over that. I have an Arturia Microfreak and though I'm keeping it I'm getting a more heavy duty one anyways because of all the possibilities and how full bodied the sound is. I found with lower end synths like the microfreak that are neat but are more toys than anything it can get quite loud but it just lacks thickness and variety to its sound that really makes harsh noise satisfying. All in all without giving too much away just get creative and don't be afraid to be as weird with it as humanly possible.

      Yes agreed. The best noise, in my limited and humble opinion, comes from musicians (I'm not one of them) wigging out experimentally with electro accoustic gear and fx.
      That said, use the whole spectrum of synths, diy, anti records, contact mics, diy strings with salvaged cheap guitar pick ups, bows picks, tape loops etc, dint spend loads of money, just invest your time. You'll find something that you feel confident with, engages and makes your work stand out.
      Peter Christopherson said about TG, anyone can make these sounds, it's the editing that makes it work. What gear you discard, what you keep. What sounds you keep to go into the studio recordings.

    I’m brand new, ani want to make harsh noise. Are you running this through a computer? Could I just run it through an amp?

    • @dorgsan
      @dorgsan  2 роки тому +3

      Yes, the mixer is sending signal to the computer. I think you can run it through an amp.

      Best run it through an interface, into a computer, until you know what you're doing, especially if you use feedback loops, you can cause damage to amps, speakers and ears. You could also run into a second mixer first before the amp as a buffer. Set the first one to full noise bastard output, use the gain trim and master output to a handle-able level and then your good to go.

    Do I need to buy a mixer like that, or can I simply plug my contact mic for example to my guitar amplifier?

    • @dorgsan
      @dorgsan  3 місяці тому +1

      I guess you can make some noises with guitar amp and contact mic, but for the full range of noise possibilities I'd recommend a mixer - cheap and noisy one, like Behringer. Besides, you can damage you amp with all these experiments, so I wouldn't try it in your place (the mixer can also break, but it's cheap so not a big deal)

    what kind of contact mic do you use?

      simple clip-on contact mic I ordered on AliExpress, but you can find them everywhere, like this one www.amazon.com/DLuca-Musical-Instrument-Contact-Microphone/dp/B00DR0CB0W/

      @@brax2574 This is some premium level contact mic. Any contact mic is gonna work for noise, including this. But with this one you can even make noise from the water, which is rad.

    xenyx mixers are quite good at this game bc they're noisy by nature. Go slowly and carrefuly when tweaking knobs and you'll get some really nice "sequences". These (expensive) pedals don't do anything more at this speed for this game, go slow and you'll get more frantic patterns than this clip for less money. That's noise not visual perf

      I actually would like to get even more expensive (because of their rarity) noise pedals, like DOD Buzzbox
