- Today I take a deep-dive into the scary yet tragic origins of FNAF"s newest foe; The Mimic! And try to definitively explain all there is to know about him!

Apparently there were "2" mimic models according to one of the epilogues (likely Epilogue -4 or Epilogue-5), the mimic that we saw in-game was the original mimic that Edwin created. And after Fazbear Entertainment got their hands on it's program, they made the mimic line to mimic not only human behavior, but a animatronic that was performing on stage, and one of them saw something "that it wasn't supposed to see" (likely the mci or dci.) So they stop producing and deactivated them, and that mimic that was used for AFTON was one of the endos that Fazbear ENT. Produced.
It looks similar to the original but it has some noticeable difference.
1. It was streamlined
2. It features a work mode
3. It has a rib-cage looking structure.
And most importantly,
4. It has springlock, nightmare, and glamrock looking parts.
Side note:
I know it can ShapeShift into any endo, but...
That doesn't mean that it can Shapeshift into a springlock, nightmare, glamrock-endo and most importantly,
a mechanical spider in the epilogues

I can refute your points in a few sentences.
If it looks like a duck and if it sounds like a duck, then it's a duck, meaning that since Burntrap looks like Afton and acts somewhat like him, then that robo-zombie is the child murderer! Also the Mimic has only one hand that matches Burntrap's, the other of the Mimic's hands has a mechanical thumb where Burntrap has a corpse thumb. And are you really saying that the Mimic was able to take off the corpse head that is INFUSED to its own head!?
Edwin was a neglectful father.
Because of his neglect, David died.
Edwin beat the mimic because the mimic was literally reminding him of his dead son.
The mimic was a creature of innocence and curiosity that was exposed to violence and abuse when it never should have.
The mimic is like a child.
What happens when children are exposed to violence? They commit acts of violence on others. They do what was done to them.

The Mimic, as described in the book, is a genuine robot. As in it has no emotions, no individuality, and no goals or desires beyond it's programming.
I don’t know why but the fact that the mimic genuinely believes that he is Gregory makes him way more disturbing. The fact that he is shocked and even angry due to Cassie not believing him to be Gregory is just so frikin creepy. I wasn’t too sure about the mimic at first but after playing ruin I think he might just be one of my favorite fnaf characters. I cant wait to see where the series takes him next!
I hope that in later games The Mimic has mimicked some many people it has become this hive mind of personas, and can’t pick which one to be - one minute it’s Afton, the next he’s Gregory, then David etc. Then Cassie would have to beat it by convincing it that it is in fact not a silly purple man with a knife or a dumbass kid that doesn’t understand cars.

Honestly I think "ThE MiMiC!!" has alot of potential to be a great villain for fnaf going forward lol
I don't, there are more characters in FNAF that actually have villain potential as opposed to the Mimic, Elizabeth Afton, Shadow Freddy, Cassie for reasons another person can explain, Maybe Eleanor, you get it. Even then, William Afton is the only character in FNAF that I can see as the series' main antagonist.
Isn’t his whole bit just following programming/commands and mimicry? That works for a minion but not a big bad.

Also I think them doing Willy again is kinda dumb, and would ruin the whole ending of fnaf pizzeria simulator. I like the Mimic as the new villain because I think he's a fresh idea, and he has a whole tragic story that makes him sympathetic.

I've actually noticed his head denting the metal a long while ago but NEVER noticed him just crushing the bars like it's paper, or how HE is the one to separate his arm. Also the Gregory cosplay comment blew my mind as I don't think I've seen anyone notice that

Personally, i think burntrap was vanny's plan that never ended up getting finished. Essentially, vanny put together the burntrap rooms with the charging station and such and planned to find afton's body, in the suit, to put an endoskeleton, maybe the mimic if she knew about it at the time, into the corpse and suit but she never got to finish and gregory's drawing could have been him trying to understand what the newley freed Vanessa told him about the plan, i figure greg would a few questions, and how he thought, or hoped, it might have gone if finished or something to that effect.
What do yall think? I feel like this makes a lot of sense, but there are probably better options.

@@Cubeytheawesome what do you mean? I'm saying burntrap never came to be because Vanessa was freed before vanny could put the body together and gregory's comic is just what he thought burntrap would look like with what he knows, and what he thinks/hopes would happen since the blob is in the panel.
I think Gregory wouldn't draw him that accurate but i see your point but i think burntrap is finished but he need to be charge but he never got charge enough to get strength the mimic got it can barely walk in true ending so in princess quest after we defeat Glitchtrap he was never get charge it'll probably make more sense which i think it's fit very well
In order to stop him, I would bring a ball and throw it to the Mimic and start a game of catch and then we could go to the store and pick out a plushie he would like. Most likely a white tiger plushie. Then we'd be friends. Easy solution.
The Mimic as a threat feels so much more…threatening than anything we’ve really seen in the series before and I am all here for it
I agree with you! His concept of being able to imitate anything he sees and hears is very good... it makes him more manipulative... and during the games, William Afton (as the previous villain) managed to be iconic... I hope The Mimic get to be a cool villain in the future.

He lost to an Elevator
@ronanawesomeness6160 Not really. Watch the cutscene again and you’ll notice that the elevator closing on the mimic caused the elevator door to dent rather than damage the mimic. It then rips its own hand off willingly to get unstuck, showing its durability, strength, and that it’s willing to do anything. It dents the elevator again when grabbing it with no effort as the door closes. So no, it did not lose to an elevator.
It's sad that the Mimic, which mind you was made to instill joy and happiness in the form of a companion, was turned into a murder machine. His story "Mimics" Afton's, but the difference is the Mimic never really had a choice, he was just programmed to mimic everything, Afton always had the choice of being better, they're both very tragic in different yet similar ways. But this was all William's fault still, his anger, lust for immortality, and refusal to accept, caused many to suffer, humans and robots alike.
William is tragic as much as he is just evil

@@MRSprings How I interpret the story is different. He had everything, he had a successful business that he always wanted, which presumably would be to make kids happy, a family. Then one bad day happens and he snaps. He had opportunities to stop but no, he felt that he was in the right and that he was doing this for his son. But that's just my perspective, you don't have to agree with it.

he was never good to begin with
I hope The Mimic copying people results in it becoming a hive mind of sorts, that is constantly switching between identities. This would play out in a boss battle similar to Mr. Freeze in Arkham City, where different ways of attacking it results in it switching to a different persona that can handle the situation better. For instance, if Cassie uses voice lures to trick The Mimic into moving somewhere it shouldn’t, it will cause it to mimic David walking into the road for the red ball, and once it has been damaged through doing this it changes to someone like Edwin or whatnot that wouldn’t be influenced by lures. Once each persona is defeated, The Mimic reveals its personal identity, which is this perfect blend of them all - Gregory’s tech knowledge, David’s love of plushies, Afton’s sadism and love of suits, Edwin’s rage.
Essentially I want The Mimic to be defeated via existential identity crisis lol
Imagine if this hive mind creates a cult of Rabbit-masked killers.
My original Theory was that someone in Fazbear Entertainment found the ScrapTrap suit really burnt. (like in the teaser photos) He went back to SL and grabbed the Dark SpringTrap suit and just thrown it on afton. (That theory of mine is really old btw.)
I think that could work for the mask. Because the mask is consistent with Dark Springtrap, while the rest of the body is consistent with Scraptrap.
But if you look at Burntrap’s right ear, it doesn’t have the top red ear wire that Springtrap has

On the mimic itself, I am still very mixed on how canon the books and games are here ( controversial I know lol )
I love his backstory but.. I just have my reservations still. But, I’m personally really excited for him as a villain going forward.
Hoping they ultilize him well unlike a certain someone. 😛
Also just a side note but.. I just have some issues if the books are indeed canon. It just means you would have to go to books for important lore. And.. I don’t like that. So hopefully whatever is next for the mimic going and anything else.. it’s explained through the games.

@@soomi5667I think the books take place in a different universe, like the Silver Eyes trilogy.
The main point is the lion costume in the Scooper ending.
In the Books, the Mimic is associated with a white tiger. But in the Scooper ending, the Minic wears a lion costume. I think this is the devs' way of saying that while parts of the games and books are similar, they take place in different universes, different continuites. A lion is similar, but not the same as a tiger.

@@lol-space that is true. But this is the Mimic's first proper physical appearance in the FNAF games (Glitchtrap not included, since they are a digital program). This id where the devs establish the character, the new main villain for the series. Afton had his Springtrap suit, the "Purple Guy" imagery, and British accent part of his image throughout the games. Surely a key part of the Mimic from the books, the white tiger, would show through in first appearance.
Yet it isn't for the Mimic. Instead, the Mimic wears a lion costume. Similar, but not the exact same. This was the guiding principle for the original Silver Eyes trilogy, another official FNAF book series. This is why I believe that the devs put this here. To show that the books, while having details that help us with solving the games, do not take place in the games' timeline

And yeah, I believe that the mimic definitely has a lot of potential as a villain, so your take on this mysterious character is very much appreciated :)
A small complaint I have about your editing is that the difference in volume between the normal volume and the "loud for humor" volume is a bit too extreme for comfort, especially because for the majority of the video, it gives vibes of "This is safe to listen to with headphones"
It jumpscares the listener, but not in a fun way, I'd say, and I keep my volume at the low end of still being able to hear things, as a way of bracing myself for the overtuned loud moments
I like the thoughts you bring to the table, though, and for the most part, your videos are easy to listen to 👍
I'm still a firm believer that the corpse on burntrap is Willy's solely for the fact that it's the spring bonnie suit in the location that we last saw him
In the books it's said the corpse is Kelly and there was an old roleplay area in the pizzaplex

As such I think it would have been a far better story if Because of Cassidy's hate and refusal to pass on and keeping Afton alive (like the man in room 1280) he was able to make one last comeback.

It’s backstory is a big mess due to the debate of if the books are canon to the games or if they are parallels or completely their own thing. What seems to be his appearances in help wanted and security breach are muddy and unclear if they actually are mimic. it’s just kinda a big mess. And I don’t think mimic is lazy, just like I don’t think using afton again is lazy

I'm so glad you made this! I dropped off the fnaf wagon shortly after SL came out, so when Ruin dropped the fnaf hyperfixation fires within me relit & I've been trying to catch back up with everything that has happened since 2016. The process has been somewhat... headache inducing BUT I'm really happy to finally know what The Mimic actually is + it's backstory.

I have a feeling that Burntrap is a mimic, but not the same one. There was a line of mimic02s released, so I'd say that Burntrap is the one from the epilogues and the mimic in ruin is the original one.

Im actually thinking the exact opposite of what you're saying around 16:15, i think them actively showing us the Blob, having the Blob be the thing that dug the tunnel out of the Mimic room, and implied to have caused the earthquake that destroyed the Pizzaplex is telling us "This guy is still canon, even though Burntrap is not" similar to how while Nightmarrionne's appearance in 4's Halloween mode is non-canon once they were made questionably canonical in UCN, Help Wanted and Security Breach had plenty more appearances to tell us that Nightmarrione IS now canon. I think the fact that we walk through Burntrap's rooms and hes not present in any way(not even in the charging pod) is explicitly telling us hes no longer canon
Yeah I’m pretty sure the reason he had an animated cutscene was because the team was being pressured to release it asap, so they had to improvise with comic panels for the endings but kept the burntrap cutscene because it was the only one that was fully finished.
Nightmarrioen isn’t canon. It was a character made by The Rogue Game Designer for FNaF 4, and was used in VR as it was an iconic symbol of the games. It appears in UCN likely as Cassidy is pulling anything and everything he can to torment Afton.
@@penguinproductions8829 the Rogue dev didn't finish FNaF 4, and even if he did, Nightmarrione's appearance in it is still non-canon. Nightmarrione's first canonical appearance is in UCN and then Help Wanted. I think the reason Nightmarrione's FNaF 4 appearance isn't canon is because Nightmare Fredbear/Nightmare represent Micheal's sin of killing CC, albeit accidentally, and since Micheal never hurt Charlotte, Nightmarionne wouldn't be his personal demon.
@@TheWizardMus yeah I had a theory that Nightmarrione is Michael’s subconscious image of The Puppet he has in the dream that is FNaF 4 (I think the house and events of the funtimes becoming nightmares with illusion discs did happen, the game is just a nightmare about them which explains Phone Guy’s voice and the IV Drip) that he has after seeing it.

I think having the mimic happen later on like years after afton and other villains would be better because it can give off the red herring of "oh shit! Vanny's back!" Or "oh no! Afton has come back after 15 years!!" But since it's the second villain it gives a multiple choice question with only one answer and it just makes it all boring

This shows that the Mimic had been listening to Gregory from the very start of Security Breach.
If Glitchtrap is a Mimic, recreating William, why would he want to escape the VR Game?
In The Mimic story, the endo that’s being described in the book can not only mimic the creator Edwin’s son, but can also react and think on its own.
So maybe when the mimic AI was recreating William, overtime it learned that isn’t in the real world, and that’s when it wants to escape. That’s more of an opinion than a theory, but I’d love to hear anyone’s thoughts on this idea.
Edit: Even in the game files, The Mimic is labeled as “Old Endo”. It’s possible that The Mimic is the result to when Glitchtrap isn’t brought to life. The Mimic was used as a base, and whoever used him to revive Glitchtrap, probably fixed The Mimic with a mix of new and old parts. But because the Afton Ending never happened, that would mean The Mimic Endo never got finished up to revive Glitchtrap, The Mimic is just locked away.
watching this video made me realize some thing about the mimic. The mimic is basically mephiles the dark from sonic 06, because number one they both get trapped somewhere mephiles gets sealed way in the sceptre of darkness 10 years prior to the events of the game by shadow the mimic get sealed in the underground pizzeria by Gregory and Vanessa they both manipulate the main character into things mephiles manipulates silver to attack sonic to make Elise cry, because Mephiles says that sonic is the iblis trigger the mimic tricks Cassie into shutting down M.X.E.S and setting him free and they both hate the person that sealed them away so much to the point where they basically become that character mephiles takes on the form of shadow after being accidentally set free and absorbs shadows shadow and takes on the form of shadow. The mimic makes a Gregory suit and convinces himself that he is Gregory. Also, another thing there is a character in the sonic IDW comics called mimic the mimic octopus, and he’s a villain

I know it might sound a bit wide of the mark under a lore talk video... But HOLY SHIT this Mimic guy is strong! Like, as far as I know, you is the only one so far who pointed all these strength feats. I knew about the forklift truck throw, but this metal bars thing is literally insane... Let's just say, the good old doors would not hold this guy down, ha-ha!

You missed the mark a bit Mr. Springs... The mimic we are told about and see in ruin can shape shift to fit comfortably in multiple different suits, but only in the sense of changing limbs and form like how it became a spider like creature. It cannot simply change around it's overall properties, the material is constant, so it'd be obvious what the mimic is made from, even if it did change size or shape. The books don't support that it can change into a completely different endo unfortunately. They are different endos. Sorry springs.. otherwise, fun theory, got my brain juices flowing. I can concede that Burntrap is likely a *version of the mimic, just in a different body model.
You know I hope, we get to see more of the 3 mascots cause they deserve more than just being lifeless, so I kinda want to see them appear in a game
The Mimic is such an intriguing character and I can't wait to see what the they do with him in the future, I hope to see him return as Glitchtrap in Help Wanted 2 which I think will be a prequel to SB where Cassie's dad is the MC, Or I could be wrong about that but we'll see. The fact that he's that strong and built like a damn stickbug is pretty interesting and also pretty funny too ngl lol, I also guarantee he'll return in another DLC or sequel to SB to continue where Ruin left off, Can't wait to see him again and what they do with him there, I also really hope despite him being very strong, I really hope he didn't kill Roxy and I really hope her and Cassie are still alive and they both come back in the future, I want to see more of those two so bad!

Frankly i don't like the mimic at all. I just have so many arguments on why he's the worst possible choice for a new fnaf villain but it's 3 am and I'm too lazy to explain lmao
They could have done Vanny they could have done Elizabeth hell they could have done Cassidy why this random robot that has no connection to anything has no motives no goals no desires and no personality other than mimicking other things that's not the type of character that becomes the big bad especially if all they do is copy the previous big bad

My biggest problem with mimic in help wanted is why it focuses so much on afton and not a character who is more present in the game. Like the player, or one of the animatronics. Why it goes so far to create(rather than mimic) a completely new design.
As far as the burntrap connection. I don’t think burn trap is real anymore. Despite being a cool way to follow up on ucn and old man consequences advice. his only appearance in ruin being in a comic points that he just isn’t a real being. Unlike the blob who makes a blink and you’ll miss it appearance. And it doesn’t make sense for burntrap to be mimic given it being sealed away for a long time according to Greg.
Hopefully if they bring it back thay can tune it up into a proper villain and not just a robot following code. Having a villain above him would do the job

Even though im a huge fan of the mimic and I'm so excited to see it in future games and books I don't think the plan all along was the mimic it was definitely still william especially cause in the help wanted princess quest the creature says i always come back but due to the backlash from burntrap i think they retcon the mimic into the story but idk maybe im just crazy
Looking at everything surrounding the character of burntrap makes me think it 100% is a retcon

Its when a story goes back and changes previously established elements to fit the changed story.
In the case of previous fnaf lore: The Puppet kid’s gender was changed from a boy to a girl to fit henry and Charlie into the lore.
So saying “Its just the mimic mimicing afton in this scene” is like me saying “The kid in SAVE HIM is a girl named Charlie” it adds nothing to the conversation about it being a retcon.

Here’s my question: if The Mimic is going to be a new character in the games…does it HAVE to be a new villain? Why can’t Vanny be the one who becomes the successor to Afton and The Mimic could become the game’s equivalent of The Stitchwraith? Or just let it be its own thing that wants someone to be with because he’s just incredibly lonely?
Glitchtrap was killed and Vanessa was set free from his control, she's a good guy now, she can't be the new villain anymore

yeah the mimic is strong like you said, he was used for the construction. basicly built to move heavy equipment and dismantling endos. Bros Built like an T-800 lol. i hope it evolves its programing cuz you also mention in the Vr game "Help wanted" it was learning, so hopfully it realizes "Rather than swaping endo parts why not bind them or create a better, more durable, more faster endo and fit for any constume. perhaps learning how to properly mimic voices perfectly. i truly can not wait whats in store for us.

this very unlikely but in this case maybe they try and repair the other animatronics to combat him (i am only saying this because despite his strength roxy held him off for a few seconds)

in the room where we can find Bonnie, there's an AR package with a Helpi plush. what if the mimic was in that room, and it tricked Bonnie to get in there and was killed by it. we see the one bellow the pizzaplex is incredibly strong, and the book did say it was programmed to tear animatronics apart.
I'ma be real, the AI plot was cool, until the Mimic appeared. William Afton is a maniacal person, of course he'd attempt to live forever, so him making a digital recreation of himself wasn't so crazy. But then the Mimic became a thing.
William isn't maniacal, he's more of a Asgore like figure

It ruined FNaF 6 though, which had a perfect death for Afton - he’s stuck in a maze that mirrors his life - it’s full of illusions and misdirections where something that should be harmless is made violent, or only leads to suffering. He’s always had a mastermind mentality, and now he’s weak and feeble, old and dying all too quickly for his liking. On top of that, he’s stuck with some of the people he hates the most - Michael, Henry and the missing children. Then, on top of that, he’s not given the dramatic, hero death he wants. He’s locked in a tiny metal room, burning to death whilst his worst nemesis reduces him from a titan that everyone should fear to a pathetic little man that no one wants to help. Then UCN is fantastic - he’s given the immortal life he wants, but it’s a twisted into a nightmare. He’s not running around with an endless youth, he’s malnourished and withering away as his worst mistake and also his son torment him for eternity with images from his past, even being killed by his own former self. All whilst something else takes his mantle, immortal and pretty much living the life Afton wanted.

Then I’d just start releasing canon books that tell the story of the games in full, finally explaining the lore from start to end in three full novels, written as if Henry had turned the events of the games into stories so he could cope with the deaths :
FNaF: The Bear and The Rabbit (Detailing how Afton and Henry met and started the company, ending in The Bite)
FNaF: Follow The Rabbit (Detailing the murders and the police investigation)
Five Nights (Michael starting to work at Fazbears, finding Elizabeth and going through SL to FNaF 3)
The Labyrinth of Lies (FNaF 6 and UCN, foreshadowing the idea of an Afton successor in Vanny)

The mimic was trapped underneath the burntrap area, which means burntrap was probably the mimic glitchtrap virus, and not the mimic endo.
23:13 maybe the reason the fnaf 6 locations has all these things is because Henry wanted to burn everything and also wanted to attract the rest of the animatronics, so maybe these things were just there so the Mimic just got what didnt burn

Sometimes for modeling, we have to use a lower Rez model. Sometimes it doesn’t match up to the original so please do not use that as a argument. Yes, I use probably part from Endo one sometimes there’s only certain pieces modelled when another modeller has to make something.
i think the "mimic endo is burntrap" is just such a weird and conveluted conclusion, we have a much better explanation for it, that we've had since the game came out
"burntrap" is 'glitchtrap' making a body for itself that resembles the persona its got going on, you defeat glitchtrap, so the body is just an empty husk. mimic endo is entirely seperate (although yes, they are both 'the mimic' since glitchtrap originates from the mimic AI program but with different data)
How is it convoluted exactly? I feel like having 1 Mimic Endo roaming around is a lot less convoluted than 2 separate Mimic Endo's roaming around in the exact same sinkhole controlled by different copies of the same AI
I feel like them being the same is just the better and more likely conclusion
@@MRSprings because the mimic isnt some sort of connected hive mind. its an AI learning model, which makes glitchtrap and mimic endo practically different "characters" since they got different sets of data, saying they somehow combined in a way that looks nothing like the mimic endo is just odd. i just don't see anything making burntrap and mimic endo physically related besides 1 generic nightmare endo hand, and i think transforming the mimic into burntrap, then de-transforming him back into the skinny endo is just convoluted aswell
(saying that burntrap never happened/doesnt exist does not follow with how alternate endings work in fnaf, burntrap existed, even if the ending where greg goes down there in SB does not)
@@MRSprings It just seems like the theory that mimic endo and burntrap are the same isnt really based on anything besides the preconcieved notion that mimic would become burntrap. we got the actual mimic in ruin, (semi)confirming that the books are canon to the games, and theorists who already thought that just took that confirmation to confirm the rest of their theory (that mimic is burntrap) despite them being rather different. it's just working backwards from a prediction that turned out to be partially true and not fully true

@@Sopsy_HallowI mean the Mimic in the Tales Epilogues is described as having a strangely burnt looking body and its head is said to have Rabbit ears. That's two very specific details for the writers to add if he wasn't meant to be the identity in Burntrap.
Plus we see in the Mimic's head there's a piece of cloth covering where the ears used to be.
