I fucking love this movie! Willa was also in The Fall of the House of Usher as young Madeline and she was also amazing in that show too. So happy she's getting roles like this. And I've been a fan of Kyle for about 20 years now and have really been impressed by so many of his recent movies. He was so good in The Passenger last year

So hyped to see this next week with my brother. This is Emma Duval meets Vince Schneider :D. Loved Willa since her MTV Scream days and she's cute as hell. You gotta see her in Blood Money and Desperation Road. People have been sleeping on her for far too long. Kyle's amazing as always and fits the more villain roles in modern days. He was good in Scream 5 but deserved more screen time. Amazing in The Passenger. The last time I was in theaters to see a movie was Scream 6. So that tells you something. Major horror fan here and I love Kyle and Willa so much.

I finally got to see this today now it’s out here! And omgggg I’m so in love with it. I haven’t stopped thinking about it since! I don’t want to say too much about it as I’m commenting on a spoiler free video, but wow just wow! Kyle Gallner is quickly becoming one of my favourite modern actors (shame he doesn’t seem to have much of a role in smile 2) and I was blown away by Willa Fitzgerald. First time seeing her. But she definitely has my attention. I feel like they really made the film special! I love how the story was told! How the film looked! The soundtrack! It was an absolute masterpiece. Also first time this year a film has made me question if I liked a 2024 film more than Maxxxine. Maxxxine has the slight edge. But it’s very close.

Hey DD! I just finished watching the movie and I'm so glad that I went in practically blind (as the few times I heard it mentioned on here it was thankfully with very little info, other than it's really good). I totally agree with the plaudits (including other reviewers), this thing had me from scene one to the very end. And the mark of a good/great film that I know I will be interested in, is when you have my attention captured in the first minute or two. It doesn't even have to be eventful, there just has to be that something that intrigues me, whether it's the cinematography, the music, the acting. The score and sound design add to the intensity and is it's own 'character'. I thought I knew where this was going, but honestly, I barely got it right! I think this would make an excellent double bill or companion piece to the also excellent Horror-tinged crime thriller, 'Love Lies Bleeding' 🙂

Damn, man. I'm torn between this and Red Rooms being my favorite of the year so far. This might take the edge, because it's a more fun and sexy thriller. Red Rooms is more get under your skin disturbing. This film is as if 70's/80's Brian De Palma did an exploitation film. It's very stylish with heavy use of stark colors and long takes. I hope this director sticks with this type of genre here on out. I'm keeping an eye on him after this. Willa Fitzgerald deserves awards attention. The best female performance of the year. Some deaths are like that in movies that just are a super buzz kill and destroy movie for me. Gotta say I already had a bad taste in my mouth after the trailers for this one. Stuck in between the usual horror movies was some bat shit crazy leftist lgbt whatever was a doc trying to say Lincoln was gay. Man, from that miniseries trying to show Cleopatra as black to the lies of Bridgeton the left's love of rewriting history shows no bounds. So I was expecting a real leftist's perspective for this movie and if that's what they were trying they failed. From the lead final girl secret serial killer who has to pontificate how hard it is to be a woman because men can be so abusive. Gee, let's check the cold hard facts. Women in lesbian relationships face the chance of domestic violence far more tha straight or gay men couples. Then near the end when 2 deputies show up at the final crime scene it's the young entitlled female officer who mucks up the crime scene. The older male cop tells her she's wrong and her response is just because she's a woman that he objects. He rightfully responds he was on his first scene when she was in diapers. The modern intersectionist 3rd or 4th degree woman is untolerable
So glad I'm near 60 and haven't had to truly deal with any of them. This is a real horror movie for any young man. Don't go for the wild chick. Look for a normal girl and you'll survive. Solid cast and well acted by the 2 leads. Liked that it was shown out of order. It wouldn't have been near effective if told sequentially. Thought the ending was a little flat. 2 ways would have been better imo. Either after she looks in the rearview mirror and we get that she's seen a demon so she then kills herself or the really crazy ending I was waiting for that a Sasquatch grabs her as she's walking down the desolate road. That would have been a wild ending but there were so many references from Ed Begly that I thought one might make an appearance and save the day at the end. One thing that annoys me in so many movies is the smoking. It's not the smoking itself but it's so obvious when someone is or isn't an actual smoker. You could tell male lead either was or still smokes. The female lead is just bad at smoking. That was the only bad scene Longlegs when Maika Monroe is smoking in her car. It was unconvincing that she smoked. It appeared like she hated having the cigarette near her face. It's quite possible that I'm overanalysing it. There's a famous review of a Michael J Fox movie that Roger Ebert lambasts his performance for and one if his critiques was how he smoked and how it was painfully obvious that Fox wasn't a smoker. In reality Fox was.and had been and had been a smoker for many years. Strange Darlings was good but not anywhere near the most inventive movie of the year.
